We reviewed this patient's account and she did indeed still have an outstanding balance of $520. Due to some system issue the patient did not receive another statement after the 4th one was generated to her. It is customary that the hospital keeps in frequent contact with our patients
when they are making good faith payments on an account. I do not know why this didn't occur with this account. At this time the patient has been contacted and given a 20% discount on the balance owing and the collection agency has been contacted and closed the claim.
