inventory and found that seat is in a separate box as the manufacturer told me. When Mr [redacted] first contacted me I told him to bring the toilet back for inspection. He did and when I saw the damage I had a clue to what may have happened. The crack ran directly through the anchoring bolt hole at the base of the toilet. This fact coupled with the facts of the toilet seat was mounted and there was evidence of the wax ring on the underside led me to think that the toilet had been set and the anchoring bolt over tightened causing the crack. What he claims as defensiveness was actually hesitancy because of the nature of the damage. I told him what I surmised and he became quite irate which is I suppose understandable in the circumstances. I told the manufacturer would have to make the final determination. We called them and explained the situation and they asked us to send some pictures of the toilet. They concluded that it was installed improperly thus causing the damage. Mr. [redacted] became even more angry. He consequently called the manufacturer and they told him the same as they told us. The day Mr. [redacted] returned the toilet [redacted] was off and thus had no knowledge of what had occurred. Saturday morning Mr [redacted] called and talked to [redacted] and told him that he had purchased a defective toilet not telling him anything of the previous activities. [redacted] said to come and they could try to work something out. After the conversation with Mr [redacted]  [redacted], an employee who was there the previous day and knew the circumstances arrived and told [redacted] of all that occurred. [redacted] immediately called Mr. [redacted] and told him there wasn't anything he would be able to for him regarding the toilet.  He came into the store and proceeded to yell at [redacted] calling him a liar and a cheat. [redacted] calmed him down and sold him a new toilet at a reduced price in an attempt to smooth things over. Yesterday (11/18) Mr. [redacted] called me and wanted a meeting between with [redacted] and myself in order to explain how [redacted] lied to him. I told him that coming in would not be productive. Later the same day he called [redacted] yelled and swore at him and called him out to physical fight and said he would take care of him. I find these actions disturbing and inappropriate. I believe Mr [redacted] attempted to take advantage of [redacted]'s lack of knowledge of the original situation and now somehow blaming [redacted] for cheating him. I think Mr [redacted] should take responsibility for his actions. This is no reflection of his abilities as a contractor. You would be hard pressed to find a plumber who has not broken a toilet in a like manner. It happens. Nor do I wish to vilify Mr. [redacted]. It is just that the situation has got a bit out of control. An apology to [redacted] would also be nice.                                     ... [redacted]                                   ... Review: I purchased a toilet that already had toilet seat installed on it. (this is not how they come from manufacturer), didn't notice any defects at this time so I proceeded to install the toilet in question. After setting the toilet on the wax and over the anchoring studs, not putting any washers or nuts on yet, I noticed a crack on the toilet base. I explained all this to the owner ([redacted]), he then became defensive right away and spoke to his vendor like I was at fault. I asked him to call me before the close of business on 10/23/15, which he did not ,but I did call about 10 mins before closing and he then told me they were not going to warranty the toilet but would try with the boss on Monday. I called back the next day 10/24 because I was very upset with the service. I explained everything to employee([redacted]),he told me to come down and he would take care of it. Taking him at his word I headed down there,(now live about 30 mins. away), while driving ther [redacted] called me back and then told me he would not be able to keep his word. He then promised me that by purchasing another toilet(same) he would then be able to send back the old one and refund my money a few days later. I called back on 10/28 and then [redacted] stated that he would not be giving me a refund.Desired Settlement: Refund for defective toilet like I was promise by employee [redacted]
