Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/10/05) */
We had originally looked at this roof and written up the contract in June - JulyWe received the $*** deposit on September 21stAfter picking up the check from customer we explained to him that they were in queue and as soon as we were
finished our current jobs and weather was permitting we would be attending to theirsWe had discussed this and *** understood and there were no further questions
We offered the deposit to be returned when we originally spoke on the phone and we sent both of the deposit refunds back last week as this is a duplex
We apologize for any trouble caused to *** but respectfully disagree with the impatience as the roof was leaky in June, we sent out the contract July 16th and got no response from them until September
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/10/07) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Vintage Roofing was originally contacted by our neighbour back in July Vintage roofing came out to their address as requested by our neighbour to provide a quote *** (my fiancee) happened to be home at the time the Vintage Roofing installer came *** mentioned he wanted a quote as well as we needed our roof done as wellSo the quote was done up with both ***'s name and the neighbour's name (***) The "contract" that he states was done up in June was a quote and Vintage never even sent us the quote Our neighbour forwarded it to us by email beginning of September! Vintage Roofing JUST sent *** the contract Sept 10/15! This email from them on Sept 10/is the first and only email we have ever received from them with regards to the price

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 16, 2016/09/06) */
We did replace an asphalt roof last year with my son's crew on an existing building that had OSB sheeting
There was a call regarding a leak this winter and we responded to it
The roofer of over years experiance attended it and found
the shingles were buckling in sections
I contacted the shingle manufacturer regarding this issueA representative from them, along with the regional manager who supplied the shingles accompanied me to inspect this roof
All of us met and greeted the owner at the door upon arriving as well saw her after our inspection and upon leaving, said I would be in touch!
We were surprised to find the shingles buckling and not adhered in several areasThe installation was confirmed to be done according to the manufacturers specifications
There was evidence and obvious signs of movement from below as on every four foot row -there was lifting and the shingles were not adhering or stuck together as they should and need to be
After speaking with these professionals about a product warranty
They concluded that there was an issue below deck unrelated to the shingle and its installation
I contacted the owners soon after and made an appointment for an assessment of the attic and structure
I came out again with the most experienced men from our crews and together we inspected the attic
We saw the largest section having minimal support and noted bent members indicating load bearing stress
I proposed to have an experienced crew with the supervision of a red seal journeymen carpenter come in the first thing the following week
The proposal was accepted over that weekend threw emails and on Sunday I consulted with my colleague regarding fulfilling the customers request for warranty and was advised not to proceed before getting an engineers report
This made complete sense and after some emails regarding this with the customer
It was decided to hold off on the proposed work
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 18, 2016/09/13) */
I WILL ANSWER BY LINE
OK
Yes in February 2016, I had to call a couple of times, because I was really worry about te situation, After the 2nd call the roofer came with an assistant
Yes
Yes
I do not recall the greeting on arriving, ut after quite a while that *** and the representatives were outside discussing, I went to the door and was told noting from reps But *** would get in touch with me later
n/a
I have to accept this observation I am not a roofer
Again I did not get a confirmation of the discussion from the reps at the time
Yes
If this is in regard of the conversation we had with him and ***, who was introduced to us has having a lots of experience with these situations his first opinion was that the "foundation" had something wrongMy husband at this time got involved in the discussion and later *** withdraw his observation "sorry I should not have said that." Then it was the fault of the attic structure When they mention this I said that means we should have an engineer or inspector checking the attic Both answered "don't do that, it will cost you a bundleWe can help you fix this I asked how much would this costIt started at $*** ***s and went to *** There were exchange of e mails I kept asking for detailed info on labour, material for this new repair That never came Then I realized that even with the repairs the warranty was not valid for leaks
(And all the way down the page) This is when I asked a years experienced contractor/builder to assess the atticHe came with a roofer In his report *** said "they (*** and him) noted bent members indicating load bearing stress" I am told by this contractor and the home inspector that those have nothing to do as support for the beam but were "helpers" for the construction people This report was not good enough so I had a home inspector coming and his report is also enclosed in my complaint with Revdex.com Nothing wrong with the structure The past moisture intrusion is why we had our roof redone in and the reason why we had our roof redone in is because we had a leak in North side of the house and East side of the house We pointed out to *** at the time of signing the contract that the Nside was our main concern Now we have a leak exactly at the place.!! And I am told that the " osb was damage from water ingress" Well if this osb has water ingress and the new roof was install in May No rain from May to beginning of October my question is: Why was'nt the structure checked before they installed the new roof? And why was'nt the osb replaced at the time of getting the new roof like some other osb replaced at that time Many questions unanswered but bugling? Because now I believe that the problem with the leak in the Nhas come from this osb not being replaced at the time of the construction of the new roof and I should not have to pay for the replacement of it nowThe buckling has disappear and the roof is completely satisfactory right now
Final Business Response /* (4000, 24, 2016/10/03) */
This roof and its supporting substrate has a lot of movement that's apparent when walking over it
We installed an *** shingle on the existing deck as contracted
When the roof was torn off there were a few sheets of OSB noticed to have been rotted and they were replaced with the same dimensional sheets and charged as a small T&M extra over and above the original **k
We did not include any re-sheathing in the scope of work as the previous roof had been fully sheeted therefore not required
If the crew found soft rotted existing OSB they would of needed to replace these in order to have a solid nailing surface to fasten and hold down the new shingles
I had *** representatives come out with me and go over the entire roof
They found no issues with the installation but did discover that the shingles had moved directly over the areas in line with the OSB sheathing below
This means there's movement going on and it was evident from how the roof moved when the of us were walking over to inspect it
This is why the manufactures warranty was voidedThis was their decision based on what they found
They inspected the this roof in its entirety and found it to have been done correctly and according to the manufactures specifications
Best to have an engineer look into this to give his report and recommendations
Final Consumer Response /* (2000, 28, 2016/10/24) */
After the heavy rain and wind last week, I had a big leak in the north side of the houseA friend came and found that the vent was defective or installation was faultyHe put a tarp over the roof and the leak stoppedI then sent a email to *** and he sent independent cosultants whom also observe the problemThe got in touch with *** and he sent his crew to repair the areaHe then came himself and inspect the roof and vents again and found that the problem of last year had receded and he gave me my warranty back, offer to inspect the roof once in a while, repair the paint in the leak area

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2017/01/26) */
*** contacted me several weeks earlier in September regarding a roof in *** that was needing immediate replacementI send my son out the same day to measure and scope the roofAfter several lengthy telephone conversations between
*** and myself we came to an agreement in price, materials, colours and starting this work immediately as requestedI juggled our busy work load / schedule to start this job immediatelyWe agreed to meet the next morning and sign the contract and proceed with the work*** asked for further reductions in price and to vary our payment terms from our standard third to a $***deposit
This was also agreed to and the next day after I made all the arrangements required to proceedI was informed by *** that he was not prepared for us to proceed
The next week I heard back again from ***
He was inquiring further about our work procedures and whether his roof world require re-sheathing, colour and price
After further discussions we agreed to meet and sign the contactOn October 3rd I met with him and went over the contact showed him material samples and colour
He wrote a cheque of ***as deposit towards this job that was now in cue along with several other fall / winter bookings
*** called several times after inquiring further as to when we would be starting his job
Again I made allowances and pushed his job forwards ahead of other earlier bookings that signed and made full depoilsits
Then I received some text messages from *** about a house he drove past and liked to look ofHe didn't give me the name of the materials or an exact address of this building-only some general area it was in
I suggested that if he wants me to look into providing him with another material then I would need more information in order for me to do soAt this time I also provided *** some driveby addresses of the colour he selected and contracted us of the shingle to install on his building
I received further texts from *** that he was not satisfied with the colour of shingle he selected after driving by a house we roofed with that colour
I also, received a message from this client in *** thet he was comfortable referring us but didn't appreciate potential customers coming around their house disturbing them late at niteHeard back again from *** that he's really not happy with the colour he selected and that he wants another optionI suggested a few colours with addresses for him to explore further and get back to me
At that time I put the job on hold until further notice abd upon confirmation of shingle colour
The weather in October did not support us in getting to slit of our work load and when I heard back from *** further about shingle colour being decided and that it being November and that his roof was leaking so needing his roof done immediately or he would get someone else
I sent out an imergency crew to with tarps inspect and secure the building from water ingressThey went up and did some minor repairs and reported back that the roof had several layers and was not leaking
This was in late November and December was another month of difficult roofing weather
Currently, ***'s job is in cue with three other jobs that were contracted in late September with full deposits paid!
We try hard to satisfy all of our clients needs and we worked hard for ***
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2017/02/01) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
trust issues are huge with this roofer.I refuse to hire his service and I ask for my $*** refund immedialtely
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2017/02/03) */
Trust issues were the problem long before *** started his rant about refunding his deposit
As an owner of a family business in Victoria for decades with an A rating with Revdex.com I'm appalled the have to deal with these sorts of issues
I've spent much time dealing with ***'s continual questions and concerns-treating them with the same respect and diligence given from any other inquiry
At a certain point when repetitive questions that have been answered numerous times get repeated and continual phone calls become disturbing or harassingthat's when we suggest contacting us by email*** had never once emailed us but has contacted us by phone several dozen times a month since last fall
We did attend to all his requests as well responded to his concerns about a calls / texts regarding his roof leaking
I did dispatch my men to address his concern and have records of this that will be followed up upon my return from vacation next month
