Review: on February 18 2014 I sent a deposit of 2,560.00 dollars for a rebuild of a 140hp outboard motor , I was told then I would have this motor by early spring time and I could follow the progress of the rebuild on there website this never took place after sending them emails and making many phone calls I always got a runaround on the progress of the rebuild , I then drove down to there location on June 6 and spoke to the owner and asked him for a refund of my deposit he agreed and asked me to call him on Monday June 9 , when I called on the 9 he said give him until Friday the 13 to put the money together , did not hear from them until the 23 and was told he mailed me the refund of my deposit on the 22 , today is the 28 of June and I still have not received it , I wonder if I ever will .Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of my deposit of 2,560.00 as promised by the owner

Review: PURCHASED USED OUTBOARD MOTOR AND IT HAS BROKEN DOWN 8 TIMES....4X IT WAS THE COMPUTOR...THEY REPLACE IT WITH USED PARTS...1 TIME THE POWER LIFT MOTOR FAILED.... 2 TIMES THE PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD FAILE... 1 TIME THE STARTER FAILED....EVERY TIME THE COMPUTOR FAILED I TOWED IT 25 MILES BACK TO THERE SHOP AND EACH TIME THEY WOULD KEEP IT A MINIMUM OF 2 WEEKS, THIS TIMES THEY HAVE HAD IT FOR 6 WEEKS (MORE THAN 1/2 OF THE SUMMER) I ASKED FOR MY MONEY BACK AND THEY REFUSED...THEY GAVE ME PARTS FOR THE OTHER REPAIRS WHICH I DID MYSELF. I HAVE PAID $3500.00 TO KEEP THE BOAT AT A MARINA AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO USE IT. HE IS NOW KEEPING BOAT UNTIL SEASON IS OVER BECAUSE HE KNOWS THE WARRANTY EXPIRES WHEN SEASON IS OVER ....HE WILL NOT RETURN MY CALLS HELPDesired Settlement: MY FIRST CHOICE IS TO HAVE THE ISSUE FIXED....THEY SEEM TO BE UNABLE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE...SO I WOULD LIKE A WORKING REPLCEMENT OR MY MONEY BACK

Mr. [redacted] has a computer controlled engine that has continually failed for us. We have replaced the computer four times at our expense under warranty. We've used used computers and they have failed everytime. We have elected to use a company called [redacted] to remanufacture a computer for Mr. [redacted]. [redacted] has had the computer for over a week and a half. We have called them on average every other day, faxed, and emailed and gotten no response. As far as we can tell [redacted] is one of the few companies in the country that remanufactures these computers and have a great reputation for their work but not their communication. We are waiting for the ECU unit to return and when it does we will gladly extend Mr. [redacted]'s warranty.

Review: During April 2013 I talked with the owner of this business (phone [redacted]) about a [redacted], complete trim... I needed at this time for my boat This person told me that he has the part but he has to test it to be sure it works properly... A month later he called me to let me know that he f tested the part and it is is in good condition, ready to be shipped... I paid by Credit Card the sum of $515. and after the payment he shipped me the part where I was at this time in [redacted] INVOICE No [redacted] May 15th 2013 When I received it, I paid for the installation but the PART was DEFECTIVE and WORST than the one I had uninstalled to put this new one !!! I called the owner again to return it and Have my money back... He said that he could send me another piece, but I did not want to make business with a non reliable company..., so he agreed to pay me back when he will receive the part... but he REFUSES to pay for the fees of the return shipping... I argue, telling him that I paid for uninstall my part, I paid for installing his defective part , and also I paid to remove it ( I have also to drive 30 miles to send it back !) so I believe he has to pay the return shipping because it was not my fault if the part was defective (bad condition) ... He refused and still I have the part with me, packed , waiting to return it WITHOUT FEES and have my money backDesired Settlement: That the Company pays for the fees of returning shipping and having my money back

Response:

We have a record of this transaction. I have no idea why this customer has waited over 2 years to file a complaint.

All of our used parts have a 90 day warranty. We do not pay return shipping as per our policy. We have received no calls or emails from this costumer since the transaction that we can recall.

Review: Last year on Sept 14 2013 I filed a complaint against the outboard exchange because the used out board motor I purchased from them quit 4 times and a used computer was installed each time with poor results. on Sept 16 2013 you (Revdex.com) submitted the complaint to this business and on Sept 18 2013 they agreed to repair the motor again because it was almost out of the warranty period . the boat was put away because the season was over. In the spring of 2014 the boat was put back in the water and after 20 minutes of running it quit. We have to drive the boat in through a breach way to get to our marina and the water is rushing very fast and within 15 seconds the boat will be in contact with the rocks. I was left with no choice, because my family was in danger, but to purchase a new motor and I asked them to evaluate the old motor for a possible trade. They called me back and said the motor had been pieced together from at least 5 motors. The computer showed the motor had 300 hours but it also showed the motor overheated at around 400 hours. They told me that they did not want to give me anything for the motor because they could not sell it. So I called the outboard exchange and talked to [redacted] about he buying the motor back. He did not want to buy the motor but gave me a phone number of someone that needs a motor. With all the problems with this motor, I cannot with a clear mind sell this motor to anyone. What rights do I have as a consumer? Is small claims court my only option? cost of used motor $5000.00 I puchased a boat slip for two years at the cost of 2600.00 per year and the boat could not be used for several months.Desired Settlement: I would like the motor bought back as I cannot sell it knowing all the problems.

From: [redacted] Sent: Sunday, April 19, 2015 8:22 PM To: [redacted] Subject: outboard exchange llc [redacted] On 9-20-13 and 7-22-14 I filed complaints about an outboard motor I purchased from the Outboard Exchange in Waterford Ct. After the complaint was filed [redacted] owner of the Outboard Exchange called me and discussed a plan to resolve my issues and take care of the problems I was having. He has since then kept his promise, stuck to his plan and resolved my issues in a timely, professional and favorable manor. Could you please remove my complaint from your website or amend the complaint saying that my issues have been resolved. [redacted]
