The bike rented by Ms [redacted] was in rental for 7 hours, 18 minutes and 42 seconds, resulting in usage fees of $56.00. This was not an overcharge. Ms [redacted] purchased a 3 day bike share pass for $10 from one of our automated kiosks on 8/21/2016.  This $10 charge would have taken place at the time of...

purchase. The charge for the $56 usage fee would have occurred upon expiration of her 3 day pass. Her pass entitled her to unlimited rides of up to 30 minutes in length with no additional charges. Rides over 30 minutes were charged additional usage fees of $4 per half hour. This information is fully disclosed on the face of the kiosk, as well as on the back of all printed receipts (see attached graphic from the front of the kiosk). In addition, all users are required to confirm that they understand and agree to usage fees as part of the purchase process on the kiosk touch screen. In cases of misunderstanding such as this, our refund policy for first time users allows us to reduce usage fees to $20.  We've offered to refund $36 of the $56 charge as a one time courtesy to Ms [redacted]. I have not been able to process the refund because the credit card associated has been canceled. Prior to this complaint we had no contact information for her. We will be in contact to update her credit card information and process the refund of $36.
