Initial Business Response /* (1000, 9, 2016/08/09) */
[redacted],
I am sorry that you have been subjected to a frustrating series of events. We pride ourselves on responding to our customer's concerns very quickly. So what you have experienced is inexcusable. From my understanding, you have received...

several tattoo sessions free of charge. Due to the fact that you never expressed unhappiness while in the shop, we did not know you were experiencing anything other than happiness with your tattoo. If you are unhappy, I would love to work on your tattoo myself. I wish you would have came to me, rather than going to another shop.
Here is a response from Megan, the original artist that did the work.
My name is Megan Franklin. I'm a tattoo artist at Ink Ink. I first tattooed [redacted] sometime before August 2015. She wanted a few cherry blossoms tattooed on the inside of her forearm. After I tattooed her the first time, she loved her tattoo and had no complaints. [redacted] loved her tattoo so much, she came back the first week of August 2015 to get more of the same cherry blossoms added to her arm. She said she wanted to have an arm band of cherry blossoms going around her forearm. I wasn't available, as I was in Oregon at the time, but Nikki was available to tattoo her, and [redacted] was okay with Nikki tattooing her. Nikki tattooed an arm band of cherry blossoms. Nikki and I being two different artists, Nikki did her best to match my style and did a good job at it. [redacted] left the tattoo shop happy, but came back later saying the two parts of the tattoo just didn't match up. Our customer service at Ink Ink is utmost important to all of us. Since [redacted] was unhappy with the new addition of her tattoo, I went over the entire tattoo to match my style, for free. Most tattoo shops wouldn't work on another artist's work for free if the customer needed a touch up or something "fixed," but that's our policy at Ink Ink to keep our customers happy. After I went over the entire tattoo, [redacted] left Ink Ink happy. [redacted] eventually came back to get the tattoo touched up, because she wanted to add more pink color to the flowers. Usually with a "touch up," we don't add on to tattoos; we only touch up the color that is there on the skin. [redacted] insisted she wanted more pink, so I did that for free for her as well. [redacted] was happy with her tattoo, but the next time [redacted] came back, she said she didn't like the tattoo at all anymore and that she wanted her entire tattoo covered up, but with some of the cherry blossoms showing and more cherry blossoms added onto it. She was wanting cherry blossoms still, but a different concept. We ended up doing an entire forearm half sleeve with black and grey shading in the background and pink cherry blossoms. [redacted] asked her husband if it was okay to get this big tattoo on her arm, and he apparently said it was okay, so we got started on the tattoo. [redacted] came in a few times to get this new tattoo worked on for free, as it needed touch ups and she wanted more color again. At one point she asked if she should do more colors than just pink. I gave her my opinion, and said that cherry blossoms are pink; not orange, yellow, and purple. She took my advise and we went ahead and made the cherry blossoms pink. Each time she got tattooed, she loved her tattoo, until she went home and for some reason decided that it wasn't enough for her and would want to add onto her tattoos. I worked on [redacted], for free, at least four times and at least five hours to try to make her happy. We tried our very best to give her what she wanted. A few months later, we received an email from [redacted] saying she went to another shop to have her tattoo fixed and she attached photos in the email. It looks like she got her black and grey touched up and different colors added to her tattoo. In her email, she insisted that we pay for the services she had done at a different shop. We called her and told her we would not pay for the services she had done at the other shop, but that we would work on her for free again until she was happy. Unlike her email, she was very nice to us over the phone and said she we consider it and let us know. We did not know what she had decided until she turned in her official complaint to the Revdex.com.
I extend my own apologizes for the incipience this problem has caused you. Please accept my sincere apologizes, we will make every effort to see that this never happens again.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 11, 2016/08/09) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
While I did appreciate the offer of trying provide me with a free tattoo after considering you offer I did decline it due to the fact that I no longer trust anyone in your establishment to work on me. I informed you of this via email. You then informed me via email you were still not willing to pay for the repairs nor you were not willing to give me a refund. I then responded you to informing you that I was sorry we could not come to an agreement and I would have to use other venues to work this out. This was done PRIOR to making a formal complaint with the Revdex.com.
Megan is not telling the truth about what transpired. My complaint was never about the tattoo style. As I stated in the beginning the colors did not match. I only allowed Nikki to work on me after she assured me she could make the colors match. When the tattoo healed the colors did not match. Megan did try to fix the color free of charge, (I did however tip her) but it did not work. I came back after it healed and let Megan know. I asked her to change the color of flowers on the existing band. She told me the pink could not be covered, it would not work right. She informed me the only way to cover it would be by using black and grey ink. I was hesitant but agreed. As we spoke further and talking to my husband we all agreed to turn it in to a half sleeve. I asked Megan if we could make some of the new flowers different colors. She said no because the pink was spaced to closely together. I let her do the half sleeve with pink flowers and a black and grey back ground. It was done in several sessions that I absolutely paid for! The only tattoo work I received for free was the single attempt to matching the colors and touch ups as needed as it is included in the price of any new tattoo work. The entire half sleeve was done hastily with no detail. There is large areas of splotchy and missing ink even after touch up. I want to make it very clear that each session of Ink that added to the original flowers was paid for in full. Never was any of that free of charge.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 15, 2016/08/16) */
My name is Kelsey Rogers, and I am the owner of ink ink. When [redacted] first contacted us it was through our business email roughly a month to a month and a half ago. This was the first time that I had heard of [redacted]'s opinion of her tattoo. When I received the email, I emailed her back telling her that I was sorry that she felt this way and that I had no idea and gave her my personal cell number and to call me so that I could do anything I could talk help her. After I talked to her on the phone, which she was very pleasant to talk to, I told her that I was so sorry that she felt this way and I offered to come in on days that we were closed and days that Megan didn't work so that she didn't have to go through that awkward interaction and I offered to tattoo whatever she wanted free of charge. I was never addressed or spoken to by her prior to her getting tattoo work elsewhere, I told her that I could not pay for her new tattoos, but would gladly devote my time to tattoo her to keep working on her arm that Megan did, or any new tattoo she would want and would do whatever I could to make her happy. At that point she said that she would think about it and appreciated my offering to help and thanked me for taking the time to speak to her personally. After a few days of no contact she told me that she was sorry that she didn't want to be tattooed with us.
After receiving her email and before contacting her directly, I went and spoke to each of the artists and receptionists that had direct contact with her to better understand what had caused her to be unhappy with her tattoo over 6months after it had been finished. Each of the artists told me about how she never voiced that she was unhappy with it, she continued to come back and continued to ask for Megan to tattoo her. Each time she would want to add more, or tweak this or that. Never did she come to the boss to ask for help or concern. Megan charged her sessions, per usual larger tattoos like this, and After many paid sessions she then proceeded to give her free touch ups until she was completely satisfied. She never came and talked to me prior to this interaction to express to me that she didn't like her tattoo. She was happy with Megan, and Nikki, the receptionist and other artists.
[redacted] states in the previous response that Megan is not telling the truth on this matter. Megan is not lying, Megan is simply stating her opinion as an artist. In the tattoo industry, there is never a "right" or a "wrong" in regards to tattoo design. As an Independent Contractor at Ink Ink, Megan has an artistic opinion and the customer chose to work with Megan because of her artistic ability. When a customer comes into Ink Ink they tell us their design idea that they have in mind. Some want their tattoo to look the exact way in a picture that they show us, while other's want the artist to work with them and put their own personal touch on the piece. Which [redacted] repetitively asked for Megan's opinion and never asked for help or opinions from the other girls. After an artist and their client agree on a design, the customer signs a consent form, which [redacted] did, consenting that a tattoo is a permanent decision and that all our customers questions are answered to their full satisfaction. And finally, the artist preps the customer and the design before tattooing them and begins the tattoo process. Megan did exactly what [redacted] had asked for. She tattooed her correctly, and safely. And our customer, [redacted], left happy each time and expressed to Megan that she had done just what she had asked for.
Each time [redacted] would come in she would pay for a session. With that being said, each tattoo comes with a free touch up. When [redacted] would come in for her free touch-up she decided that she wanted to add more. And each time Megan worked with her to make sure that it was a tattoo that she really loved, and that is exactly what [redacted] expressed while in the shop. There are many witnesses that saw how much she loved her tattoo as well. She never once expressed discomfort or hesitation. Nikki saw how much she loved her tattoo. And while [redacted] was checking out with the receptionist, she told her how much she loved it.
Our previous response to the issue was from Megan personally, and since I was not present every moment in which [redacted] and Megan interacted I cannot say what was exactly said. At ink ink we are all in the same room, with other artists and multiple customers around at all times, if anything inappropriate or disrespectful was ever to be said to any customer, a Manager or myself would have stepped in. But, speaking to the witnesses of every interaction that [redacted] and Megan had, they were both pleased and happy. As the owner and another tattoo artist, I was in the shop multiple times during [redacted]'s Visits and [redacted] never talked to me about any of the issues or unhappiness she was feeling.
After talking to her directly on the phone after we received the email, [redacted] told me that she never thought that her tattoo looked bad or unfinished until months later when another artist from a different shop told [redacted] that they could do better, then that is when [redacted] started to have an issue with her tattoo from Megan. From our side, Megan is an artist and has her own artistic opinion, the same goes for another artist from the other shop. That artist has their own artistic opinion and may or may not like another shop's work. We experience this a lot in the tattoo industry, where a customer may not be sure if their tattoo is to their liking or not and doesn't have second thoughts about it until a negative comment is said to them. Then swaying the customer to change their opinion about their own tattoo. Changing your opinion is understandable, we as tattoo artists and as people who get tattooed, we do the same thing and change out minds on tattoos that we have gotten then cover it up with another one later. This never means that the original artist is wrong.
Megan is an independant contractor that works at ink ink as an artist, and [redacted] asked and continued to use her as an artist for multiple sessions. No displeasure was voiced to Megan or other artists and especially not to the boss until months later. Tattooing is a subjective media and there is no way to black and white say what design is right or wrong. As a business, we assure that all of our artists are performing at their best ability with routine meetings, evaluations, and exams. All of our artists are licensed in the practice of tattooing and most of the artists hold Associates and Bachelors in Art and digital media. We assure that every customer concern is addressed in a professional and efficient manner. And we are inspected, licensed and regulated per tattoo industry standards. We have the best system of checks and balances a Tattoo studio has to offer. We have managers that oversee tattoos and customer relations, we have PR reps, we have receptionists and personal assistants to make sure ink ink can function at its highest standard. We perform our careers at the best way possible. Since this incident Megan, Nikki, and the receptionists have been spoken with to prevent such incidents happening again by having even more eyes and ears on situations to make sure each customer is 100% of what they want and if they are satisfied.
It is unfortunate that [redacted] does not trust Ink Ink's artists anymore. But, due to the fact that she never expressed anything but love for her tattoo until the other artist put their opinion in, I cannot pay for [redacted]'s work from another shop. If [redacted] would like to take up my offer on tattooing her tattoo free of charge, or fix Megan's work I would be more than willing to, but that is all that I can offer [redacted]. We do not offer refunds to our tattoo clients but are always more than willing to rework and tattoo until the customer is 100% satisfied and my offer still stands.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to respond to Ms. [redacted]'s complaint. Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any other questions or concerns.
Respectfully,
Kelsey Rogers, Owner

Ink Ink Branson
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 17, 2016/08/17) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I must start by saying that I do agree with Kelsey in the fact that I did not let anyone know how unhappy with the work that was being done and continued to return to try and have it fixed. I did this for a reason, I do not want anyone I have just showed my displeasure with be allowed to permanently put more tattoos on me. The mere thought of that scares me more than sending back food at a restaurant for fear of them doing something to your food. I furthermore did not go to the owner due to the owner and Megan being best friends. I am offended at the notion that ANYONE convinced me my tattoo needed changing. I am the only person who wears this ink 24hours a day, the only opinion I care about is my own. I did sign a waver when I got my first tattoo there but did it at the reception desk prior to speaking to any artist about agreeing what would be done.I stand by my claim in it's entientirety however have already seen discrepancies in the responses from Ink Ink as far as discussions that were had and monies that were paid. I was told that the colors on my tattoo could not be changed. That fact remains untrue as it is being done. Again my complaint stands.

The customer paid a $60 deposit which at time of booking was informed that this fee is non refundable as it is store policy that a non refundable deposit of $60 is taken at time of your appointment booking. This policy is also stated on our website. The customer cancelled and rescheduled her...

appointment multiple times and we have even reached out to the customer since her last phone call offering to get her back on the schedule with no additional deposit required

The response is full of false information. Nobody in the shop has reached out to me, and no offer has been made to reschedule the appointment.
