Nicholson's College Cars Reviews (9)

Review: On April 28, 2014 I called Nicholson's College cars and spoke to[redacted]. I advised him that I did not have much money to put down and that I was in desperate need of a vehicle to be able to get back and forth to work. With $500 down, I was able to get a 2000 Chevy Impala. The car was a little beat up on the outside but the inside was in near perfect condition, plus the a/c worked perfectly. I was happy. Total financing was about $4,744.83. That includes the extended warranty and other insurances. Full coverage was $146.00. The fuel gauge did not work making it hard to know how much gas was in it. The next morning I woke up with a flat tire on the passengers side. A couple weeks later I began noticing the car running hot and it was a little hard to steer the car. Had a mechanic check the fluids and put in power steering fluid. He said the fan was not coming on. He fixed the fan problem. The fluid fixed the steering problem for a few days. Next it started making a loud popping noise when I steered right. On May 30, the a/c went out. I had the same mechanic check the a/c. I also advised him of he steering issue. He advised me to bring the car back to[redacted]. I went in on June 2 to advise [redacted] of the problem. He advised me that I needed an appointment and he put me down for Tuesday of the following week June 10. On June 10 was headed to the dealership to drop off the car. I stopped to use an atm about a block away from the dealer. I could hardly steer the car because the wheel was so tight plus the awful loud popping noise. As soon as I pulled into the street to head down to the dealer, the steering gave out completely in the middle of traffic. Had car towed to dealer. They said they would not fix it because I wrecked the car. The rack and pinion is broken and steering column I never wrecked the car. They refused to contact the AUL warranty people. They demanded that I come and get the car and call my insurance. Now I have no transportation for work. They took advantage of a working single momDesired Settlement: I want my money back so that I can get another car from someplace else. I want the $500 downpaymet. I want the first car payment of $200. I want the money I spent on insurance so far $325. I am in a rental right now so I also need that money back as well. So far I have paid $258 for a rental. I have missed time from work due to stress over this.

Regards,

Review: I am currently financing a car with this car dealership. I had the car less than a week when first issue occurred. The car has no ac/heat or defrost. The car operates on a switch to turn the fan on to cool the engine. It should turn on by itself to cool engine. I was told by Johnny the owner that I was going to have to pay for some of the repairs because he is losing money with me. This car should have been in working order before given to anyone. I was told to come back later for repairs. Every time I went back I was told they were to busy. Next week the car won't start. The car sat in my drive way for 4 days before I could get it to start to drive it back. Finally they took the car. And I was told by [redacted] that my car was still under warranty. Now the story changed once again. I'm being told by the mechanic [redacted] over the phone that I'm going to have to pay for the repairs after I was told I was still under warranty by [redacted]. Every time I call to speak to [redacted] he never returns my call and I'm told he is too busy once again.

These are the things wrong with the car:

Fan and ac system operates on a switch and makes a loud noise.

Ac/heat doesn't work.

Starter was going out.

When I called and checked on the status on the car I was told by [redacted] that they fixed the starter and put freeon in the ac. But he stated he was not told to find out where the noise was coming from or to correctly fix the switch that is operating the ac and engine fan. The car should not be operating on a switch to turn these functions on. Every time you speak to someone it's a run around. The day I dropped the car off one of the mechanics said to another mechanic that my car never was looked at on the rack. He didn't think I heard him. They are trying to let my warranty run dry so they won't have to fix anything.Desired Settlement: I want another vehicle with the same value or fix the car correctly.

Review: I bought a vehicle from nicholsons in July and they advised me that nothing was wrong with the vehicle. While driving the vehicle home I noticed when I would turn it was making a noise. I called them so that I could get it fixed because I thought I had a warranty to only find out that it was never put into the system. I had to reschedule to have it fix in September of this year is when I finally receive my warranty paper work. I brought the vehicle in and they fixed the strut on the passenger side. Two weeks later I started having problems with the transmission. I brought the vehicle to gmc to have repairs done and I was advised that my warranty was no longer available do to being over the milage by 130 miles. I have only had the warranty for a month and I only drive 10 mins to work and home so I know I did not exceed the 3000 mile mark in a month. I had gmc take down the transmission anyway to see what kind of repairs where needed and for everything it's going to cost me 7000 dollars to fix when I only paid 12500 for the vehicle. When I called nicholsons to see if they could waive the 130 miles they told me no that they didn't want anything to do with me and began using profanity towards me. This business is a ripoff and some liars.Desired Settlement: I want my vehicle repaired at no cost to me and I want the business shut down.

Regards,

Review: I purchased a car with a warranty from Nicholson College Cars on February 2 2015.in June the ignition switch went out and I had to pay $194 because they said it wasn't covered. On August 5 my car stop running, they came and picked it up. They did not start working on my car until August 12. They couldn't find the problem. They then sent it to Ray Brandt Dodge who also hasn't figured out the problem. Every time I call to get an update I get the run around. The salesman told me I can go pick up the car because there isn't anything he can do. I explain to him that my car is still under warranty, but he claims that it's out of his hands and I need to speak to the owner. Every time I ask for the owner whose name is Johnny, they say he isn't available. They are suppose to supply me with a rental, and I still haven't gotten it. The finance company says that I'm still responsible for the payments. I'm not paying for a car I can't drive.I feel like this company took advantage of me. My down payment of 2500 wasn't even applied to car I purchased. I didn't find out until after. These people are not giving me any information.Nicholson College Cars are a rip off and scam artists. I just want my money back.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund.

Whenever I call they tell me that they are still working on my car.

Review: My daughter purchased a 2000 Honda Accord from this dealership on Saturday, September 6, 2014. Everything was fine as long as she was on the lot. However, once she left the dealership with the vehicle; the transmission starting slipping. She called the dealership and informed them of what was going on. They gave her a phone # for a towing service. They pretended to look for another vehicle that she could purchase when, all of a sudden the computers were locked. She was told she would have to wait until Monday, September 8, 2014. Well the towing company picked up the car on Sunday, September 7, 2014. It is Monday, the 8th of September and now they are refusing to refund her money. Every time she calls, they hang up on her. The owner, Johnny Nicholson, calls but, blocks his phone number out when he does. The last conversation he had with her, he stated that he was busy studying for a test and did not have time to deal with her issue!Desired Settlement: He needs to refund her the funds she gave him on Saturday, September 6, 2014 without any deductions for anything. He also needs to apologize for the extremely poor customer service that he and his staff has shown her.

Review: I purchased a vehicle from this dealership on 9/6/14. I left the lot and maybe an hour later I started having transmission problems with the car. I called the dealership and informed them of the issues that I was having and they sent a tow truck on 9/7/14 to pick up the vehicle. I explained to them on 9/6/14, that I nolonger wanted the vehicle and I wanted a refund of my $1500 cash down payment. I spoke with [redacted] on several occassions on 9/8/14, by phone and basically was told that I couldn't get my money back. I went back to the dealership on my lunch break that same day and the owner wasn't in the office but another employee was. I was told that the owner [redacted] wasn't in the office but they could have him contact me. He called from a blocked phone number and was very arrogant and rude. Explained the same thing that the previous people had already explained and I told him I nolonger wanted the car, just my money back. He finally stated that I would get a refund at some time today (9/8/14). I asked what time because I would have to find transportation over there again. His reponse was I don't know, I'm studying for an exam. I informed him that wasn't of my concern, all I needed was a time to pick up my check. His reply was well since you feel that way, you will get it when you get it.Desired Settlement: I want my $1500.00 cash back before Wednesday, September 10, 2014. I shouldn't have to wait or be treated in such a way because he sold me a bad vehicle.

Review: I bought a 2001 Acura Integra LS, cash, from Nicholson's College Cars April 1, 2015. After the test drive and reading the Carfax report, everything seemed okay. Yet, only a few days after I had the car everything that could go wrong, started to go wrong. I knew it was a used car and that it would have some issues but I never dreamed it would turn out like this. The first issue was, though I payed cash, these people delayed giving me my titles. The key to the car did not open the drivers side door. Unfortunately we did not notice this until after having the car locked overnight at home. A mechanic friend told us the car had probably been in accident and had the door and side panels changed, but that was not on the Carfax report.Nevertheless, the first major issue I noticed was an overwhelming smell of gasoline inside the car, not just when I drove it but even when the car was not running. The alternator went out (typical for a used car) but then the mechanic repairing that noticed loose wires in different places under the hood. We also inquired about the gas smell and after being put on an analyzer it was suggested that I buy a new gas cap, however, this did not solve the issue, it got worse. A problem with the Catalytic Converter was mentioned as well. But before we could resolve that issue, the worse and most dangerous issue happened on Friday, May 22, my final day driving the car. While bringing my cousin home the brakes to the car failed. Someone got in front of me abruptly, causing me to have to slam on my brakes and that's when I noticed they weren't right. While slowly driving on a little further and pressing the brake pedal to the floor, I realized the brakes would not stop the car, only slow it down enough until I could put it in park. The next day, when the mechanic investigated everything, his first words to me were "YOU NEED TO BRING THIS CAR BACK!" He had not only discovered that I had NO emergency brakes, but that the brake lines (AND FUEL LINES) were so rusted they were crumbling.Desired Settlement: I would like Nicholson's to take this car and give me my cash back so I can go and purchase another car elsewhere.

Review: I purchased a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 from Nicholson's College Cars, LLC on 09/12/2013,upon buying this truck I also paid for a warranty through Superior Protection Plan because it was an older model truck. The warranty was to cover the truck for 24 months or 24000 miles whichever occurs first. After driving the truck for a week it started running bad and I had to return the vehicle to the dealer. They changed a lose spring in the motor I got the vehicle back from the dealer in Oct.2013. In Jan.2014 during a cold front the truck with no signs shut down after only a 10 mile drive. After trying to restart the truck it then showed that it was running a hot temp. I had to call for help to push the truck a few blocks to my sister house. The next day I checked the truck water to see it was low because it could have been the cause of it running low but it was ok. I then started to truck and it started then made a funny noise like something was lose then shut down. I checked under the hood again and tried to started it but this time it wouldn't do anything. I called the dealer to let them know what happen and they got a towel truck to pick the truck up two weeks after me making many calls to them over the two weeks. Over the following two month I talked to different sale reps. and Head Mechanic for the dealership and was given the run around about when the truck would be fix. After being given the round so much I got my girlfriend, a buyer of this truck, to call the dealership during this call she was told that the truck was not fixed yet because the driver ran the truck with a busted radiator and the warranty company denied there repair clams. I called the dealer rite after that call and was told [redacted] that he couldn't tell me anything about the truck until they talked to the owner of the dealer who was out of town and was coming back in later that day. The next morning I called the warranty company to see why the clam was dined and was informed that there was no clam other then the clam from 2013.Desired Settlement: I lost my job because this was my only transportation to work. I'm stuck paying on a truck that no auto shop will touch because they don't think tell will get paid from the warranty company. They warranty company is saying they cant do anything about it until a clam is filed. I keep getting calls from the bank about payments that I cant make because it hard to find a job without a way. I think this dealership should refund me the money I put into this truck and the amount the bank paid for it.

Review: I was approved for credit through credit exception on September 6, 2013 for a 2006 Infinity G35. On September 12, 2013, the dealership called me to return the vehicle because my credit was later denied. I put a down payment of $2,000 and additional $367.42 for insurance. Since I was denied credit after having the vehicle for one week, I am requesting my down payment of $2,000 plus the insurance $367.42. I also spent $187 replacing the windshield. The total reimbursement I am requesting is $2,554.42.Desired Settlement: I am requesting my full reimbursement of $2,554.42
