Nick Reams Construction Services, Inc. Reviews (2)

Revdex.com, ***
I received a follow up response from Nick Reams Construction Services which does not satisfy my dispute nor was there an attempt to terms related to my complaint.
Nick Reams continues to state that wrong measurements on door size door for both existing framing, as well as the actual replacement door is an acceptable practice in constructionI was verbally told by Nick that *** (perhaps subcontractor for Nick Reams Construction) measured inaccurately not the plant manufacturer as noted in responseA primary requirement for a construction service is measurements and one that does not falls short of a reputable business's mission and value statementPassing on there inaccuracies in cost to the consumer is unacceptable. Also, Nick Reams states in his response that I was given the option for a lockboxThere was never such conversation for this option nor is there documentation that suggests otherwise.
Furthermore, on 4/27/after I sent a letter to Nick Reams regarding my dissatisfaction, I received a notice for 2% finance charges and a threat of charges from a lawyer when they send my bill to collections To date there has been no issue resolution to my consumer complaint.
Thank-you for your attention to this matter,

Review: Had a front door replaced a 1 yr ago. During the process, after I picked out the type and style of front door another outside vender arrived the next day to measure. A few days later the door arrives and the old door was removed. The construction team attempted to install the ordered door. Due to gross negligence from the outside vender the measurement was wrong I had to coordinate off times from work and with this obvious mis -measurement I had to take off another day of work (now am losing more money). Wrote a letter to the company discussing these barriers, which was not well received. One month ago they sent me another total bill with added charges.

They are passing on the cost for their incident to me. I had to be at my home during construction work.Desired Settlement: My request for resolution would be to lower the bill for my extra day that I had to take off work which was 215.00. Also, to remove interest charges associated with the bill that they say was sent out (never received). The first bill with charges arrived via snail mail 2-3 wks ago.

Response:

On January 13, 2015 [redacted] signed a contract with Nick Reams Construction Services, Inc. (NRCS) to make repairs to her home per a Nationwide Insurance claim. The final cost was to be determined by NRCS and Nationwide Insurance. Ms. [redacted] was responsible for her $500.00 deductible. Included in Ms. [redacted]'s claim was the replacement of a door. The door was a special order, which was measured and ordered by a manufacturer's representative. When the door arrived it was the wrong size. The mistake in door size could have been made by the representative or at the plant during manufacturing. Unfortunately, such errors occur and are not due to any "gross negligence" as stated by Ms. [redacted]. The door was reordered and installed as soon as possible. Ms. [redacted] was not billed for any additional cost. As is NRCS's normal practice, Ms. [redacted] was encouraged to use a lockbox on her home which would allow workers to enter the home if Ms. [redacted] was not present. The use of lockboxes has proven to be a safe practice in our business. The lockbox would have made it unnecessary for Ms. [redacted] to be at home or miss time from her job while repairs were being made. Ms. [redacted] chose not to use the lockbox. Nationwide Insurance paid the claim, minus Ms. [redacted]'s $500.00 deductible. During the first week of August, 2015 NRCS received a check for $250.00 (1 \2 of the deductible) from Ms. [redacted] along with a note stating that she was not paying the remaining $250.00 because she had taken a day off work for the installation of the correct door. NRCS advised Ms. [redacted], in a written letter, that the $250 payment was not acceptable as payment in full since it was her choice to not use the lockbox and to stay home while the work was being completed. She was also reminded that her contract allowed for finance charges to be accessed to the unpaid balance. Ms. [redacted] has been billed numerous times since August, 2015. Finance charges began accruing in December, 2015. She was also informed that the account would go to collections if unpaid. Ms. [redacted]'s balance due is $250.00 (balance of deductible) plus $48.32 finance charge for a total of $298.32. Because she is delinquent in her payment and apparently refused to pay, on May 11, 2016 we sent her account to our attorney for collection. We are sorry for the inconvenience the repairs caused Ms. [redacted]. We do; however, believe that the repairs were made in a timely fashion and met all industry standards and contractual commitments. It was Ms. [redacted]'s choice to stay home while work was being completed and her choice which cost her lost time from work and possibly lost wages. In order to settle this account Ms. [redacted] must pay the $250.00 deductible balance as well as finance charges and collection cost including attorney's fees and court cost. Respectfully submitted, Nick R[redacted]. President
