Nick Viola Hardwood Floors Reviews (1)

Review: After reading the good reviews on [redacted], we called Nick Viola Floors to come give us a quote on redoing our wood floors. Nick Viola came to look at our job and give us a quote. His price was reasonable and he was available to come do the job.

Nick sent his son [redacted] to actually perform the job. It took two days, each of which I was expected to provide cash for that day's work so he could pay his team. This is extremely unprofessional and a sign of a very poorly run operation with inadequate cashflow and should have been a sign of the work that was to follow.

The Day 1 sanding went ok, though there was dust EVERYWHERE. Then on the second day, [redacted]'s team applied the stain and polish and we were to be out of the house, so we went away for the weekend so everything could dry adequately. [redacted] was not able to be on site for the entire day, so asked me to pay his guys in cash directly before we left, which, again, seemed very unorthodox and unprofessional.

When we returned, I was shocked. There was stain on all the mouldings that touch the floorboards and all the way up our steps on the kick boards and on each and every spindle. It was a colossal mess. Just as bad, the high gloss finish was applied unevenly, with some bare spots showing no gloss at all. After my urgent call, [redacted] showed up and he said he thought it was a "great" job and he had no problems with the dark stain all over my white trim throughout the house. He didnt offer to fix it, nor the splotchy gloss finish and was very defensive. I asked again for Nick to come and inspect and [redacted] said I wouldnt want to hear what he had to say as he would be very angry with my complaint.

I have since had to pay another contractor to come in and re-do the trim throughout the house, which cost me almost as much as Nick/[redacted] Viola's stain job. We would never recommend Nick Viola Floors to anyone based on our very bad experience with [redacted] Viola and would certainly warn anyone with an upscale home with fine finishes to avoid this contractor all together. But that wasnt the end of the story: 6 months later the floors look even worse, with peeling and cracking everywhere on these floors. It looks far, far WORSE than it did BEFORE we hired Nick Viola Hardwood Floors to refinish our floors.

I have contacted both Nick and [redacted] Viola to please come take a look at the state of our floors and make it right. Neither [redacted] nor Nick are willing to come out to look at the issues. [redacted] offered to take a look and charge us to fix any issues without even seeing how poorly his work has held up after half a year.

We have had to hire a whole new hardwood repair team to re-do this job because the flooring is peeling up. New contractor says Viola's team used the wrong products on the job, a common mistake for inexperienced hardwood contractors.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund of $2,000, which will be used to offset the costs incurred to hire additional contractors to fix the initial job by repainting all trimwork and the failure of the refinish to last even 6 months and need to be refinished all over again by a new contractor.

I would like this refund to come in the form of cash, not check.
