[redacted] came to our office 09/19/2016 for an office visit.  When he came in the office we asked him for his [redacted] card to scan into our system, he claimed he did not have the card in hand, and then explained that he had [redacted] as a primary insurance.  We explained to him that we...

are not in network with [redacted], our office opted out of the the network in 2015, and since we do not take his primary his secondary insurance ([redacted]) will not cover the visit.  We took him back to the room and he got his [redacted] member ID number off the phone and wrote it down for us, we got into the discussion again about how [redacted] is primary it goes to them first, and then to [redacted]  We explained that we would look into it and would file with [redacted] but we were pretty certain that they would not cover the visit.  This has all taken place before the patient has seen the doctor for the visit.  He then saw the doctor and they also had a discussion about the insurance situation.  The patient came up front and explained how it was a bit frustrating that he was not explained that before he came in for the visit, and we did apologize for that.  We are [redacted] providers and the patient is correct we do file with them regularly, however the patient when he came into the office initially for his routine visit, he has separate vision coverage with his [redacted] called [redacted] VISION also known as [redacted] vision and we are able to file for his routine eye exams with that insurance without being in network with [redacted] because it is separate insurance specifically for routine eye exams.  Vision insurance does not cover for any other office visits expect the yearly routine vision exam.  We are sorry for the confusion of the insurance,  we are going to wave the fee for the office visit yesterday.  If the patient has any other questions regarding this issue, please have him contact our office.
