Night & Day Dental Reviews (1)

They lied to me about accepting my insurance and have ran up a large bill and refuse to make it right. It's really to much to try and put in 4000 characters but here is a general overview.June 18thI called to see if they were in my insurance network. A worker took my insurance info and called me back saying that they were and scheduled me for an appointment.June 20thI go in for my initial appointment and they check my insurance info again and tell me that everything is fine and that my insurance will pay 100%. They said I needed a lot of work done to my teeth (fillings and extractions). They gave me a sheet saying that my insurance would pay the first $1500 and I would be responsible for the rest. I told them I would do as much as I could this year with the $1500 and then finish the rest next year once my insurance started over.July 5thI go in for my scheduled teeth cleaning. They tell me that my insurance is paying 100%. Before I leave we put together a plan to get fillings for my teeth that need it the most and will roll the other ones over to next year. We decide to schedule 4 cavitys to be filled soon.July 7thI go in to get the 4 cavitys filled. Once I am in they inform me that I am scheduled for 6 teeth to be filled. I told them that I didn't mind as long as my insurance was covering it. 2 employees go check to see and come back to tell me that yes my insurance will be covering 100%. As me and my wife go to leave and schedule my next appointment the employee working the desk tells me that I have a $92 balance and that I shouldn't have had any work done until it was paid. I question her because I had people check before anything was done and they said everything was 100% covered by my insurance. She says that my insurance didn't cover it all from my initial visit on June 20th. I inform that I would need to talk to billing so we could figure it out.July 8th-14thThey inform me and my wife that they are not in the network and what my insurance has payed them isn't there standard price and thats why I owe bill. We inform them that they were the ones who told me they were in the network and that my insurance was covering everything. We also begin questioning them as to why they didn't say anything after the initial visit but continued to allow me to run up a bill while telling me that my insurance was paying everything and that I would owe nothing. They never answered just kept saying we need to set up payment plan. We were never able to get office manager on phone or meet with her even though we left several messages that we wanted to set up a meeting with her because we didn't feel we should be responsible when her employees told me they were in the network as well as continued to allow me come knowing I wasn't while running up my bill and telling me that I wouldn't owe anything. The office manager did finally email me on the 14th just telling me to set up payment plans and that no one in her office would have told me that.Desired SettlementI would like for them to accept what my insurance paid. They told me they were in the network and it's not fair to me that they continued to run up my bill while telling me that I wouldn't owe a thing and that my insurance was covering everything. There own employee said I never should have been seen until I paid that $92 from intial visit and yet they cleaned my teeth and filled 6 cavitys after that while telling me that I wouldn't have to pay anything.Business Response Thank-you for allowing us the opportunity to explain. We, as a courtesy to our patients, will bill insurance plans that we are not in network with. If we chose not do this our patients would have to pay the full amount at the time of service. It would then be entirely up to the patient to seek reimbursement from their insurance plan. It is the full responsibility of each individual to know the details of their insurance plans. Prior to the patient's appointment we contacted his insurance company and we were told that they would cover 100% of reasonable and customary fees. We have no contract with the patient's insurance plan and therefore have no knowledge of what their allowed amounts are for reasonable and customary fees. It is possible that they would have covered our fees at 100%. This information was relayed to the patient. Unfortunately, when we told the patient "yes we will file your insurance" it was misinterpreted by the patient that we are in network with your insurance. We have never been in network with [redacted] We billed the patients insurance for his 6.20.2016 visit and they paid us on 7.7.2016. This was the date of his appointment and also the date we notified him of the balance. The patient signed a notice of agreement with our office that states insurance coverage is an estimate and he agreed to remit payment for any amount not covered by his insurance. Regretfully there was a misunderstanding along the way and because of this we have chosen to accommodate the patient by allowing him to make payments. This is an exception made specifically for him, we do not allow this for any other patient in our practice. If you have further questions please do not hesitate to call our office. Consumer Response I am sorry I do not agree or accept this. There was no misunderstanding. I asked and was specifically told by an employee that you all were in the network. Each time I visited a different employee checked and told me that I would not have to pay a penny. Also you my insurance mailed the "EOB" on June 28th from my first visit so you knew when I sat in the chair on July 5th and 7th that we had an issue. Both visits I had an employee check and then come back and tell me "oh you insurance is the best you won't have to pay anything." Also I have called the office 9 times and left messages trying to set up an appointment with the office manager before I filed this complaint. I really feel like there should be no issue with me because my insurance paid $2,253.00 of the $2,503.00 bill. I wish you all would accept that and deal with your employees for lying to me.
