I went to this company's location in Havelock, NC on Halloween night with my 2 nephews, aged 5 & 7 to do trick or treating & to have their faces painted. I purchased two (2) full price tickets totaling $87.54 to cover whatever we might come across. Their website is VERY misleading as to what is offered that night. I was under the impression, per their website, that their would be loads of trick or treating sights for my 2 nephews to go & get their fill & a spot where I, as an adult, can get something to drink, nibble on & rest while they trick or treat & get their faces painted, which is what I basically paid the full price for, the FACE PAINTING. Upon arrival, I find a little rinky dink sized walk through mini haunted house with 5 or 6 people handing out a very small amount of candy to my little trick or treaters. The whole walk through took about 10 minutes tops to walk through (& it took me half an hour drive's just to get there). At the end, my nephews say to me; "Is this it [redacted]?". I even asked a guy there about my expectations and he said; "There's absolutely nothing here for kids their age BESIDES what you just did". No face painting, no chairs, no drinks, nothing. Everything else, pg-13 & up doesn't start until after 7:30 pm, 2 hours after we finished the mini haunted house. The website didn't say that. I e-mailed a complaint asking for my money back, and I get a call from a [redacted], the co-owner of this branch at 3:00 am yesterday & leaves me a pompous message blaming me for misreading his website and for me to call him back at ([redacted]) [redacted] & he will explain "how things are done around here" while never addressing my refund concerns. That's right, you read correctly, HE CALLED ME AT 3AM, waking my family up!! Our website clearly states "This year, we bring you even more FREE entertainment and fun for the whole family on Halloween!" followed by, "Parents, bring your kids to trick-or-treat through our "FACTORY" attraction for a safe and friendly time on Friday and Saturday from 5pm-7pm." Multiple posts on [redacted] also stated "FREE "Lights-On Trick-or-Treating" thru the "Toxic Warehouse in 3D" for KIDS and adults from 5pm-7pm."As you can see, there was no cost associated with the FREE "trick-or-treating" you participated in. The other services you mentioned, "Face Painting" and "Snacks", were not a part of the 5pm-7pm "trick-or-treating" event, and there is no reference to those being offered during that time frame on our website.What you decided to purchase tickets to was the Haunted Attractions that opened at 8pm on Halloween night as clearly stated on our website, the Online Ticketing web page, and other social media posts.While you were at our business, I personally seen that you were carrying printed online ticket receipts and tried to stop and explain what was going on, find out why you purchased online tickets, and would have gladly refunded your money at that time had you not walked away from me while I was trying to talk with you.Although it is clearly stated on our website that we do not provide refunds, we value ourselves as a honest, veteran-owned local business that cares about our customers and their experiences. It is unfortunate that you misinterpreted our website in regards to the "FREE lights-on trick-or-treating from 5pm-7pm", resulting in a unnecessary purchase, a bad experience, and your inflammatory posts to our [redacted] page. Despite your actions, and since you purchased tickets to the wrong event, we have refunded the $87.53 back to your account and request you immediately mark this case as closed. I had a nice talk with the owner & I apologized profusely for my actions as I was overly hasty & didn't reach out first before complaining like I did. He refunded me as promised and even offered to show me around the next time I get around to going there when he's open. I saw, upon re-reading his web page where I misconstrued what he was saying about the offerings and when each event would occur. We are on good terms as of now and I look forward to meeting him and his crew in person one day. Please visit them if you're into being scared to death!!
