Nijah Development Reviews (1)

Review: My mother and I was told if we were to pay about $2000 for photos and for 2 years of representation Nijah would be a liaison for me to get auditions. I never got any auditions through Nijah, and they never connected me after I paid for the 2 years. They always recruited me for a competition with [redacted]. I was told that I would have to pay about $5,000 plus to compete in the competition. That everything was to go through them. In the competition I won honorable mention for 2 or 3 competitions where I was supposed to receive a award (metal or trophy) which I never received. I had some trouble coming up with the money. However, I was told if I came up with a portion of it I could still compete and they would worry about the rest later. I was told that any interest I got from an agency they had to deal with, and if I were or they were to contact them I'd have to wait 1-3 months. I thought that was odd, because how would the agencies remember someone they saw audition when the agencies had seen more than 2000 others audition. Therefore, I did what they said and waited about a month. I never got a response from any of the acting agencies, or from Nijah. I never got a call about the rest of the money I would owe. I know at one point they did talk about possibly waiving some fees. Never heard anything else about it after I came up with about $3000 worth of the money. In conclusion I called Nijah, to ask about everything about a year ago, about the agencies about the Trophies. I was told the agencies never contacted them after the competition meaning they had no interest to move forward with me. However, when I spoke to one of the agencies at the competition they had spoke to me about how they would like to move forward with me starting me in Philadelphia auditioning so I could add on to my acting credits and then to New York to audition for shows and Movies there. They told me to email them with a video of me acting and my information. I emailed them reminding them who I was and when they would respond I would send the video. However, after a month of waiting, because Nijah informed me that is what I had to do I never heard back from them. They also told me that the woman and her team who had worked for Nijah and who had recruited me had quit and they had all the trophies. I spoke with the woman Lisa, she is the one that recruited me, before or after she quit; I am not entirely sure. However, she said she was no longer working with them that she believed in my talent; therefore, if I ever needed any help I could call her. I only called her that one time. I have not been in contact with Nijah since. I believe that was a year ago. My first contact with Nijah was I believe in October of 2010. They have not called regarding my account or renewal or just to touch base with me.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund, because Nijah did not do anything they said they would do for me. I believe it was a waste of my money. I believe I was lied to about their services, therefore, my mother and I should be reimbursed.
