Not only no but hell no!

Third time doing business with Durante over last few years including widows for two homes and a composite deckWas completely satisfied and remain so with all aspects of work and pricing, however, on the most recent set of windows after deposit I was given a balance to be charged at completionWhen windows installed two were wrong and back orderedBefore back ordered windows came in Durante called me and asked if ok to run balance throughI trusted them and said to go aheadThe balance quoted at that time was $less than I knew my balance to be and told them soI was then told that because of my problems that I was being given a break in price which made me even happier with the company.after the last two windows were installed I was called by Durante about my balanceI explained what I was told and they explained that now that would not be honored.Paid the balanceNot the money that upset me but being misled. Not the best way to treat repeat customer

As homeowners, my wife and I were extremely excited when we decided to remodel our deck. We talked with several different companies that specialized in deck construction. We reviewed websites and read many articles on what wood to use and railing systems and even lights. We did not rush into a decision so when we did choose, we were excited and ready to start.
We chose Durante to remodel our deck. We discussed our wants with their salesman and because of what and how we wanted our deck, we had the owner himself to come out along with their project manager assigned for our project to review and sign the contract.
We liked the crew. They were professional and courteous and very patient and honest with our questions. Though new with Durante, we liked the project manager. He was extremely nice, but any promise dates he gave us, we found never to be true nor was never met. Unfortunately this is where the positive stops and the negative starts.
The way the contract was written was that Durante used a lending company and would draw from our loan and upon completion, Durante would draw the balance and any money owed, we would provide with cash or check. This is important to remember in the series of events that followed.
1. Contract with additions and subtractions was signed June 17th, 2015. We were told the project would last about a week once started.
2. Based on my conversation with Jason D[redacted], the remodel was to originally start 7/28 and complete 8/8. I know this to be true because I was planning to take off to be at the house during the process and placed on my calendar during the conversation.
3. Actual work started 8/10; completion 9/2. We were told that the guys would be working from 8:00am to 3:30 or 4:00 every day. They left most days at 3:00 only to go to another job to work on. I know this because I asked Durante's lead guy. Lack of material was another reason they left.
4. Durante's crew had to wait on multiple occasions for material that were supposed to be at our house waiting on them.
5. Upon one of the walkthrough's, we had to ask for Durante to replace a blemished board, which should have been caught by the crew. At another time we had to ask them to rework the stair rails because the way they were finished. Once again should have been caught by them. The downspout guy put the wrong color downspout on. Durante is supposed to provide paint to match existing spout color. We have yet to receive the paint. The ceiling facing had to be replaced because the way it was originally installed. The wood used, we felt would buckle over time. We had to tell them what to use and how to install. We should not have had to do that.
6. As stated earlier Durante used a third party for a loan that we secured for them to draw from. The first draw was done in June. We were concerned with the draw because of our interest free loan and the amount of time involved. This required us to revise the dates with the loan company. DURANTE DREW THE BALANCE OF THE MONIES WELL BEFORE COMPLETION AND FINAL WALKTHROUGH WHICH IN OUR EYES IS A BREACH OF CONTRACT. The balance of money was pulled from the lender 8/19. We called the lender and they told us there was no way for them to confirm completion.
7. Because of the way the original contract was written and with the additions and subtractions, it created confusion on total contract price. We asked for a revised contract but never received. When the project manager came back for the final check, we were surprised that the final price was more than what we thought and what was discussed through texts. We had to pay additional money than what was expected. The project manager was even distraught to the point saying he was sick. He knew the final price was wrong and continued saying he was sorry. The owner was rude when confronted with the confusion of the original contract and basically that was the end of the conversation.
Lesson learned...never start until correct contract was in your possession. The office manager wants to do a case study and review for their website and even a commercial. That probably won't happen!!
As for my review for this job: 10 = good and 1 = poor
Materials & Workmanship = 7 (didn't feel we had to point out their mistakes)
Salesman = 8 (courteous but unsure with answering our questions, or quick to give correct answer)
Project Manager = 7 (liked him but depended on too many people to get good information; his downfall)
Owner = 0 (was great when selling the job, but a total jerk when job completed)
Satisfaction = 5 (TOO MANY PROBLEMS, CREATING A UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE)
Would we recommend Durante to others?
Not only no but hell no!
