NJ Grass Choppers Reviews (1)

Review: I had been used NJ Grass Choppers always dealing with Chris C[redacted] who is no longer associated with NJ Grass Choppers, and that is when the problems started my lawn was beautiful till this season when Greg D[redacted] took over he promised the same service as the past, , I am sorry I stayed with this company. From the beginning the service was awful but I had a contract, I was constantly charged for services they never performed, I would call the day I received the bill stating I was charged for services you did not do, no one called back but they would show up the next day, that was in March but it continued and I was still being billed for services they did not perform and even with a phone call they would no longer show up to do the work they only mowed. At the beginning of August after my lawn looked like a weeded dustbowl, I called them again since I was again billed for services they never did and was screamed at by Greg and I fired them. Each bill I sent them copies of checks that I had paid and circled the services they never showed up to do. My back yard was kept locked because I wanted to know when they did show up since they became so unreliable. I fired them in August sent them a check with all that was due again itemized with copies of everything I had paid including payment for the 1 time they came to mow in August which was clearly written on the check. Today Sept, 4th I received another bill stating a balance was due for the August mowing which they were already paid for and more due for I have no idea since they did no other work. Someone is always home and I had started marking down the dates they showed up because of the awful service. They were paid in full for the season and were fired on Aug. 7. I had to hire a different company who was stunned at the disaster my lawn had turned into, and they came and did all the treatments that NJ Grass Choppers failed to do. They are even incompetent in doing their billing, this is harassment.Desired Settlement: I want an apology plus I want them to stop sending me bills for services they never performed. I have copies of all the checks with the dates they were here including and copies of all the bills with notes of what they did do and didn't which I sent them each month. This is harassment already or incompetence. I want no more contact with them other than an apology for their billing and destroying my lawn, I sent them photos of the lawn.

Response:

Customer did not pay for an entire season as stated. Customer was billed on a monthly basis. Customer did not deal with Chris C[redacted], however she dealt with Justin S[redacted] who is the fertilizer technician and is still employed at this company. Chris C[redacted] left on his own accord. I did not "take over." It was a 50/50 partnership that got ended abruptly the end of last year. Furthermore, during a conversation that customer had with Justin S[redacted] earlier this year, the customer cancelled the fertilizer treatments. I was present during the conversation when she cancelled the fertilizer back in May, but was keeping the flea and tick applications which were supposed to be a 3 step program. We had only done 1 treatment to her lawn, which was done before her sprinkler system was turned on that she was billed for.Other than that, we were cutting her lawn on a weekly basis. She was billed a total of 1 fertilizer application, and then 2 flea and tick applications. She is disputing the 2nd flea and tick application that was done for a total of $69 and change after tax. I removed the cut that she had already paid for from her bill, but after I received the payment, so it was still showing in the system for the current billing cycle. Since the bill was printed, that charge is no longer showing on her account. She called and left several messages overnight and I called her back the next day and was then screamed at and called a liar several times as well as some other choice words. Her lawn is a dustbowl because it has not rained almost the entire summer season, and without a sprinkler system running a minimum of twice a day, most lawns are just dried out. Nothing fertilizer can do for that. If all the applications that she missed were done by a company in August to September, that is in violation of DEP regulations as she would have needed a minimum of 3 applications, which must be spread out. Someone telling her several applications were done at once is being deceitful. There is no harassment as the billing is sent out on a monthly basis. I spoke to [redacted] about the application and she refused to pay for it even though it was technically a late payment since she did not pay her July bill until August. It clearly states on all billing that there is a late fee penalty for bills not received after the due date, but I typically do not put those charges on customers accounts. Again, the only disputed amount I sent the bill out for was the one flea and tick treatment. Never once did I raise my voice to her or call her names as she had done to me on the phone after she accused me of not calling her back, when we were clearly speaking on the phone. I am sorry her lawn looks the way it does, but I cannot take responsibility over someones lawn if I am not doing the treatments, nor is my fertilizer specialist there to let her know if she needs to water her lawn more. I would not purposely skip fertilizer applications on a customers lawn, because then I would not be making any money. She called and spoke to Justin to cancel her services.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: the response is a complete fairy tale, first of all I did not call anyone names and Greg actually started screaming at me that he was a liar, I never called him a liar I guess he knows himself best, that was when I hung up on him after firing the company because I don't deal with people who scream and yell and don't do there job. As for doing flea and tick treatments they did only ONE, Justin was supposed to call me the day he was coming so I could unlock the back yard and take the dogs in, he never called and he never showed up to do it so the back yard was locked so unless he hopped over the fence and ran into my two dogs one who Justin was afraid of I would like to know how he went in the back yard with the dogs there and the gate locked. My mother is also home 24 hours 7 days a week. I marked all the days they showed up on a calendar because they were proving to be unreliable. I did not cancel the fertilizer service because I would have just fired you in July after the bad service since the beginning of the season, and the 1st fertilizer was not put down before the sprinkler was open it was put after your dates as usual are wrong because your service man who opened the sprinkler was shocked that you hadn't done anything for the season that day and opening the sprinkler was late. I did not receive a bill in July and , I called them in July to ask were the bill was but no one ever called me back, so I would dispute any late fee too because of your not sending a bill. I have always paid my bills on time and full. I also always signed up with Chris his name is on every contract I have, Justin only came to do the service in past years and knew he had to call to get me to open the gate, that was not a new thing, it has been going on for years even the mowers knew that I would be there to open the locks. I do not owe this company anything and if I continue to receive bills for services that were never performed will take this matter further. As for the watering my lawn now looks beautiful with the new company so that is ridiculous too.
