NJ Self Storage

Review: On 1/27/2014 my storage unit flooded due to a pipe bursting. The pipe is located in my unit, which is located outside and the largest unit that Extra Space offers. I was called to come see the unit. My fianc met me there also. once we arrived to the unit, we were greeted by staff. We all went to see the unit together. The pipe that busted was the sprinkler system. the whole unit was wet with this water. The water had risen high on our things. The staff member did not know when the pipe actually busted. The staff member explained all the things that he did before contacted me. The staff member took pictures and advised us to call our insurance company. We asked to see our policy. The policy only covers up to $2,000.00 worth of damage. The articles in the unit are worth much more than 2,000.00. I explained to the staff member that I was advised to take the lowest policy because nothing happens. Since this was the first storage unit that me and my fianc have ever gotten, we believe in the staff member. I wanted to speak with the store manager, who advised me to contact the district manager. The district manager [redacted] advised me that I must follow procedure first before extra space can compensate me on my lost. I contacted the insurance claim department and filed my claim. My claim was completed on 2/28/14. I spoke with extra space staff in regards to billing for the month of February. I was advised that I would not have to pay anything until my claim has been settled. I received a phone call from a extra space staff member advising me that I will have to pay for the month of February and that since I was told wrong information, I will receive $50.00 off my bill.My belongings are still In the damage unit. I should not have to pay for the month of February. In regards to March, I feel if I would have to pay for March then I should be moved to another unit. Please HelpDesired Settlement: I should be compensated for my lost and not be charged.
