Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
So based on the response from [redacted] in his letter dated February 19, 2015, NJ Home Services will continue to have their customers wait a period of over two (2) weeks for an appointment to have any plumbing issues...

addressed?  As far as the repairs listed in his correspondence provided by NJ Home Services, you can see that the the "Technician" is constantly returning to my home to repair issues that were not addressed correctly the first time.  Do you think a "Flapper" on a toilet should only last less than 2 months?   Is that the consumers fault?  Are the "Technicians" just that,  and not actual licensed plumbers as stated in the contract? These are the issues that need to be addressed, not the fact that a plumber needs to keep returning to my home and repairing a job over and over again.  If NJ Home Services reviewed the comments/complaints from other customers regarding time frame appointments and poor qualify, they should rethink their replies to their customers and to the Revdex.com.  Please forward my response to [redacted], in addition to [redacted].

[redacted]

Hello, I appreciate the Revdex.com's assistance in helping consumers with issues from businesses they patron in which the business itself is being uncooperative or unwilling to help until the Revdex.com intervenes. In the case of NJR Home Services, although they did not respond to the Revdex.com as noted below, they...

ultimately contacted me directly in an effort to repair my appliance (in this case, a central air conditioning unit) and are currently working with me to fully resolve the issue to my satisfaction. To that end, at this time, I would like to give the benefit of the doubt to the company and remove my complaint at this time. Kindly notify me when this has occurred. [redacted] thank you for your time and help.

Review: I had a service contract with this company for 3 years, since I bought this home. On July 2 I had my annual home service done on my AC, furnace and hot water heater. I have the senior contract that I pay $26.19 on my monthly bill to [redacted] On July 4,1013 my AC stopped. I waited until the next morning, July 5 to call this company at7:35 AM.[redacted] put me on hold and then told me they were booked and he put me on stand-by. They would call me. At 11:50AM Icalled again because I waited to hear from them but no call.I was put on hold again and [redacted] told me someone would call me. I decided to stay in my not AC home with the 90s temp. outside because someone was going to call me.Desired Settlement: but no call so at 5:40 I called again and [redacted] checked the schedule and said they probably wouldn't get to me until Mon. so I went to the movies to get some Ac. Noone ever called me so I had to get my AC fixed on Sat. for $282.45. On Mon. July 8 at 8:20AM my gate called to say their truck was here...too late! I never got a call so I called again to say I want to cancel my contract and do not want to pay any monthly fees AND THINK I SHOULE GET MY$282.45 REFUND FROM THEM SINCe THEY DID NOT HONort

Review: On 9/2/2014 at 10:05am I spoke with a gas company representative in regard to a $31.61 contract charge. I was told by the representative that this was a contract carried over from the previous owner of the house and I should have received a letter. I did not receive a letter and have looked at my bills for at least three months upon moving into the house before just having the gas bill emailed to my phone giving me the amount I owe and I pay it on line. The representative said she could credit me 2 months but would have to get a supervisor/manager approval to credit me the remaining amount. They have been charging me $31.61 for a full year on a contract I NEVER authorized. Incidentally the heating system and the air conditioning system had to be replaced shortly after I moved in. I was not aware of a contract by NJ Natural gas, this is very sneaky and unethical to slip a charge to a new resident from a PREVIOUS owner. Please help. $31.61 x 12 months is a lot of money to me. I have been calling the gas company for three weeks, hearing the same thing" I need a managers/supervisors approval and they will call you back" and I have not once received a phone call back from them.Desired Settlement: I think that they should refund the money they charged me for this "contract" I never authorized a contract.

Response:

Thank you so very much. ljust received a call ( at 3:34pm 198ept 2014) from a person by the name of [redacted] identifying herself as a manager/supervisor at NJ Natural Gas. [redacted] stated that she will credit my account the 12 months and send me out a new statement to reflect the credit. She asked me if it is possible to withdraw my complaint and I said yes. Do I withdraw now or wait until I receive the credit?

Review: I am New Jersey Natural Gas customer with a service contract which apparently is serviced by NJR Home Services (thru "[redacted]). I am generally a satisfied customer with this arrangement due to past experience. The present issue involves that, before leaving for a period I shut the hot water heater off. My wife returned to the house before me and not realizing the heater was off, called for service on 7/12/2013 and a tech responded that afternoon/evening ([redacted]) and immediately suggested a new unit due to age. My wife asked if he could get the unit working for the short run and he said he probably could (note it just needed to be turned on). He apparently replaced a part in the ignition box, but then also pried open a panel holding the pressure switch on the fan/blower assembly and "broke it". He said he could order the part but it would take a week or more if it was available and the quickest way to get hot water was to replace the unit. He gave her a price of $2100, said he talked to [redacted] and gave her the business card of [redacted]t NJR in sales.

I called NJNG service and explained the situation; a tech came out 7/14 and really was non-committal and was peeved he was sent out and left without giving his name or number.

I sort of resolved myself that at that point the unit should be replaced, but was certainly uneasy having NJR[redacted] do it. I tried getting technical information as to the specs of the units available particularly venting (power venting over 35 ft likely necessary0 but couldn't get past the salesperson [redacted] she said that would be addressed at time of installation, at additional cost.

I eventually (8 days later) had a correct unit installed. No hot water for 8 days.

I have photos and the damaged part. The plumber who replaced the unit said the electronic control box with the pressure switch should not have been opened (and there's a label) that broke the pressure switch which prevented ignition. It is apparent the job was "spiked".Desired Settlement: I'm not sure what is appropriate. Should I contact the Board of Public Utilities/Consumer Protection? Was this a "Sandy" caused situation? I contacted [redacted] complaint thru email twice. I'm angry and mostly disappointed in the performance of a service I previously trusted. Certainly this should be addressed by the Public Utility company.

Review: I just sold my home and I received my final bill from NJNG. On the bill, was the final meter reading for gas and also a $150.00 charge for a NJR Home Services Contract. I did have a service contract with NJRHS which ran about $18.00 a month so this was abnormally high. When I called and asked about the charge, I was informed that my "contract" had expired in 08/13 and it was "renewed"; if I am to cancel my service, I owe the remainder of the bill. I asked that the charge be terminated or adjusted and was told "no".

Here are my issues with this charge:

1. When I purchased the home in 05/2006, the NJRHS contract was rolled over onto my bill (from the previous owner) which ran about $18.00 per mo. I never signed a contract with them for this service, however I always paid my bill and never defaulted on it.

2. I never received any renewal notice regarding this contract, again it was something that was always on my bill.

3. Since 05/2006 to 12/2013 is 93 months, even if I paid an average of $15.00 a month (I'll round down) for 93 months, that is a total of $1395.00 that NJRHS has received from me, to attempt to charge me an additional $150.00 for service that I no longer require is unfair.Desired Settlement: I wish for the $150.00 to be removed from my bill. I will even be reasonable and be willing to pay the $18.00 NJRHS would normally charge on my final bill.

Review: The logo used by NJR Home Services is identical to the logo by our utility company [redacted] Although a disclaimer that NJR Home Services "is not the same company as the [redacted] is included in fine print, the 1 inch logo is blatantly displayed 3 times on the ad. This is deceptive to say the least since a consumer will gravitate to the logo and read further believing it is a promotion offered by the [redacted] their utility.Desired Settlement: To change the logo for NJR Home Services to reflect that it is not the same company as [redacted]

Review: My issue is with the automatic renewal of the heating services contract. I was unaware I had to cancel within 30 days. When I received the bill from NJNG I just paid the gas charge. I should not have to proactively call to cancel. I called when I received a cancellation of my gas service from NJNG, which I have been paying, and was told I have to call NJR Services to address the heating service charge since they are not associated with NJR Services. I called NJR Services and was told of the auto renewal and the 30 day cancellation policy. I believe both policies are unfair. I was not told there would be an auto renewal and that I only had 30 days to cancel.

And if NJNG has no association with NJR Services, why are they threatening to cancel my gas service when I have been paying that?Desired Settlement: Remove the charge of $196.69 from my NJNG bill and do not shut off service.

Review: I contracted with NJR on 7/5/2012 for premium a/c and heating service which included a yearly inspection and maintenance. This was performed in the fall of 2012. In July 2013, no one showed and it had slipped my mind.

I called on 5/23/14 to complain that there was no service in 2013 and was told that they had from 7/5/13 to 7/5/14 to complete the service. They also advised me that it was necessary for me to call them. They do not call and schedule. I was told I had an annual contract, but it appears that if I don't call them, they just continue to collect my monthly payment for no service.

To me, an annual contract insinuates the the service will be performed annually. This is not the case with NJR.Desired Settlement: I will be leaving their service after I have had time to check out other suppliers.

Business

Response:

The terms and conditions of the contract clearly state that it is the responsibility of the customer to call and schedule the annual inspection.

Review: HAVE A CONTRACT WITH THIS COMPANY FOR OUR HEATING SYSTEM-WHEN CALLED FOR SERVICE ON DECEMBER 9,2013

WAS TOLD WE COULD NOT GET ANY SERVICE UNTIL DECEMBER 26, 2013. OUR HOME IS RIGHT NOW WITHOUT HEAT AND

HAVE A 90 YEAR OLD AND TWO 79 YEAR OLD PERSONS IN HOME NOW. WE WERE WITH OUT HEAT ALL NIGHT. WE NOW HAVE TO SEARCH FOR ANOTHER

HEATING COMPANY TO COME IN TO FIX OUR HEATER. I ADVISE PEOPLE NOT TO CONSIDER THIS CONTRACT AS THEY DO NOT

LIVE UP TO THEIR ADVERTISEMENTS. THE TEMP IN HOME IS UNDER 35 DEGREES OUTSIDE TEMP NOW IS 32. THIS CONTRACT IS USELESS.
