RE: [redacted] project This letter is to respond to the recent complaint that was filed against Advanced Renovations concerning the [redacted] ProjectWhile I agree that this job has taken much longer than a kitchen project should lastThere are some circumstances that are not immediately recognized in this complaint To explain how our relationship with [redacted] has been set up will hopefully shed some light on some of the comments made in the complaint In our partnership with [redacted] we are contracted to do the remodeling work while [redacted] supplies the productsWe are responsible for the installation of the supplied products and we are dependent on time schedules of when materials arrive to job siteThe procedure that occurs is that we will wait until the materials arrive to demo the area to be renovatedThat way we are not taking a working kitchen or bathroom and leaving it unfinished for a longer duration that is neededOnce materials are delivered from [redacted] we usually start a week or so after that point This was the case with the [redacted] jobWe did the kitchen demo and began to install the supplied products in the manner agreed upon by the customer and [redacted] The original set of cabinet drawings were reviewed and signed by the homeowner before the ordering ever took place At the very beginning of the project, Mrs [redacted] changed the cabinet layout and there was a reorder from [redacted] to the supplier The turnaround time for cabinetry is 4-weeksSo from that point on we were in a delayed period of limbo, we could not continue without the cabinets in place And as a standard practice in almost all of our kitchen remodels we set up a temporary kitchenThis usually consists of a temporary two bowl sink, sink faucet, stove and microwave and the refrigeratorAll of these appliances being operational, and that is what we did for the [redacted] From the start of the project there were several incorrect items supplied that needed to be reordered due to breakage in shipment or wrong productWe had the tile floor installed and then set cabinets There were a couple of changes made in the process by the customer and [redacted] This created a wait period for those replacements to be delivered, cabinet fabrication and deliveryThere were at least two times this occurrence happened on the project, creating a much longer delay than normal When the counter tops were templated and then fabricated the granite company installed them on the kitchen cabinetsThe granite company [redacted] cut and fabricated the wrong granite colorAnd even though the granite was the wrong color it did look great with the cabinetsThe homeowner acknowledged that the granite looked greatBut they were the wrong color Advanced Renovations was not involved in this phase of the project Once the counter tops were in there were many conversations about how to move forward or work around the wrong color so that we could continue to move forward with the project.Mrs [redacted] wanted to wait for a few days so that she could look for new tile for the counter backsplashesWhen there was a selection made we installed the back splashes with the product that was selected by Mrs [redacted] The tile that was installed created shadows when the undercounter lights were installed and she did not like that, so we tore it out and installed other tiles in its placeUnfortunately the tile that was delivered to us was not the same lot # and it did not match exactly to what was installed earlierSo we have been waiting for the new tile to be delivered so that we can install for the third time And as of this date 1/5/to my knowledge the homeowner has still not picked a replacement tile The toilet in the bathroom close to the kitchen we installed a new toilet that was selected by the homeownerOnce installed they complained about it not being what they wantedWe were not involved in selection of the toilet, we just installed itOnce the kitchen was painted Mrs [redacted] said that the color was wrongThis was the color she had picked out with the [redacted] representative and was finalized by Mrs [redacted] We experienced a number of occasions that Mrs [redacted] changed her mind on materials which caused delays in product being supplied As for the craftsmanship on the project that has been nothing short of beautiful As far as them not having a kitchen for six months is not an accurate explanation of what has occurredThe [redacted] could have been using the kitchen for at least two or more monthsWe had the kitchen functional a long time ago, they have elected not to use it, why I am not sureIt is all installed and ready to use, but they have chosen not toFor the complaint of not being able to use the kitchen is not accurate Several times we asked them why they were not using the kitchen and the response was we want it all finished before we move anything ineven though the cabinets, stove, refrigerator, kitchen island, sink, faucet, microwave, counter tops where all installed and ready to goShe would not even put anything in the cabinets to get it off of her den table While we agree that there has been a substantial delay in this project what needs to be considered in the delay does not fall squarely on Advanced RenovationsWe have tried to move as fast as possible with the materials supplied and the choices of the homeowner changing mid streamSince we do not provide materials but simply install them we are part of a team with [redacted] , the supplier, and we are dependent on them for supplies as they are dependent on us for installation We are doing everything in our power to close this job in as short time frame as possibleWe have tried to keep the homeowners in the loop as much as possible and we are certainly doing our best to finishWe value each and every customer and we do our best to provide what the customer paid for and expectedWe are in a partnership with [redacted] on this project and we are dependent on time frames that material is delivered While Mrs [redacted] statement of having paid her money to [redacted] is absolutely trueThat money has not come to Advanced Renovations except in designated draws as specified in the contract she signed with [redacted] We feel that these facts Advanced Renovations has enjoyed being A+ rated company in the Greer/Greenville area with the Revdex.com for many years nowAnd we worked very hard to get that designation in one of the toughest industries available, constructionbeing a small business owner I strive on every project to live up to that designation just as we are trying to on the [redacted] projectThis complaint is something we take very seriously and are working on the solution as best we can with our partners Alan B***owner
