Worst lead source that I have encountered in 20 years of practice. Just drivel. You would do better randomly calling people from a phone book

At least for attorneys looking for lead services, Nolo is absolutely horrible. Terrible leads, and they don't honor their refund or credit policies. Just avoid them at all costs.

I used Nolo to start an LLC. Instead they filed for a corporation with the state. They are blaming me and said they will do nothing about it. At the beginning of the online process the first thing you select is Starting a LLC. I do not know why it was filed as a corp but my guess is that there is either an error in the system or UI issue that I didn't see.

Nolo is sorry for the confusion. We do take any complaints very seriously and take pride in our products.

There are two completely different interviews on our website, one for Corporations and one for LLCs. They look different, start different, ask completely different questions and we have not had any issues with any other customer in regards to this. We have had our programmers check, and there is no system error.

While we are sorry that this customer is unhappy, we have spoken to him multiple times. We have provided him with the simple conversion form (California has a form to convert a corporation to an LLC, or Vice Versa). Nolo cannot file this form on his behalf as the state requires it to be mailed with a check, which we cannot do). We covered half the cost of the conversion form, and refunded $75 back to his credit card account on Feb 10, 2020. The conversion form is $150, and must be mailed in to the California Secretary of State's office along with a check, which we cannot do on his behalf.

We are not sure what other steps we can take in regards to this matter at this time.

Sincerely,

Nolo Customer Support

I am in the third month of losing money. I can scarcely wait until the end of the billing period to let this go.

I used Nolo before for advertising for Bankruptcy, we lost money TWICE.
The way it works is NOLO shares leads with other attorneys so it is first come first serve, so many times before you even call a lead, another attorney has called and set up an appointment. The sales person we signed up with made all these promises that NOLO has changed, the representative that we worked with does not work there anymore, the salesperson said there are all these leads and they don't have enough attorneys to fill them, this is the line I was given. Why I fell prey to NOLO again, I am still baffled about it.
Why NOT to Hire Nolo
1. Most of the leads are poor quality, either they are spam, picking your brain, have no intentions on hiring an attorney, want to do it themselves, make appointments and never show up, or just have no money to afford an attorney.
2. You are one of a few attorneys who receives the lead
3. When you receive spam leads, you have to be quick about getting credits, it is another accounting task and takes more time away from you generating business.
4. Read your contract NO REFUNDS, they will hold you to the contract no matter how dissatisfied you are.
5. Waste of valuable time, time calling bad leads, time emailing bad leads, time setting up appointments for bad leads and time wasted for no shows.
I looked up all the leads we received with other attorneys to see if the leads did retain a Bankruptcy Attorney and filed Bankruptcy and most did not that clearly in my opinion is a good indicator that they are mostly bad leads.
With NOLO think about it, you spent countless hours chasing down leads, some are completely bogus, most are just calling to pick your brain, very few hire you, just think of how much time you have wasted when you could put your time generating leads that are NOT SHARED.
There will be no third time for me, shame on me for even considering them a second time.

This was the worst thing I have ever done for the practice I work at. My company spent about $1,500.00 to get charged $50 a lead. The leads that came in were completely irreverent to the practice areas we provided them. One lead was for suing their partner for changing genders.. We are a personal injury office... Warning any and all firms do not go with NOLO. They are a scam and take your money.

I contacted Nolo attempting to find a lawyer in Florida to assist on a real estate transaction in Florida. The site indicated I cuold get a no-fee consultation. My intent was to give a outline the particulars and then ask if it was the sort of thing they might undertake. Instead, I was connected with US-wide firm. The total of the free advice I received was "Send me a $300 retainer."
Of course I did no such thing. When I complained to Nolo abaout what happened, they weaseled out of all responsibility for actions of their partners.

Judgment obtained against ***Nolo Legal Marketing Network. After I contracted with ***Nolo Legal Marketing Network to obtain leads of potential clients, it quickly became evident that the leads I received were not of the quality, which I was led by the marketing rep to expect. Not a single lead provided to me resulted in a paying client or any other benefit. After complaining with no resolution, I sued the company and obtained a Judgment, including treble damages under the South Carolina Unfair Trade Practices Act.

I completed their form, giving them all of my contact information and then I get a notification that there is no one that can help me in Nolo however I can purchase their texts to figure it out myself! Really?? What a scam!!

I made 2 purchases with NOLO. Less than 24 hours after I made these 2 purchases they had their President’s Sale where they were offering 40% off. I used their “Contact Us” that I was requesting a refund. All I was going to ask for was the discount refunded to my card.

I waited for several days hoping someone would contact me. After 8 days I called in and talked to Customer Support. I explained that I. didn’t want a full refund, just the 40% discount amount back. She said she could give me a 30% discount but not the 40% since I didn’t contact while that was going on and not they were still having a President’s Day sale but the discount was only 25%.

Then for some reason the phone call was cut off. So, I called back and got the same Customer Support rep. So, I told her the date their email to me was sent and she said she couldn’t find where I had contacted NOLO. Then she said she couldn’t find the email they sent to me. Then she told me the copy she was seeing was blank.

So, I forwarded her the email I got that was dated 8 days earlier that started out with:
“Thank you for your inquiry. We are sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with your purchase.”
? snip?

I cc’ed a copy to me and I got my email but the Customer Support person said she hadn’t gotten her email yet.

So, I hung up and told her I would contact her in a bit. I called back and she said she still hadn’t gotten the email where I forwarded their reply. So, I forwarded the email 4 more times.

Then she emailed me and said that I had gotten a 15% discount when I made the 2 purchases and she couldn’t give me any additional discount.

So, we went from, there is no record of you contacting NOLO for a refund, to she couldn’t find the email they sent to me, to what she was seeing was a blank email NOLO sent to me. 2nd, she offered me discount of 30% and then she changed it to she couldn’t give any discount. Her story was constantly changing.

I believe the correct reply should have been:.
“I see you got a 15% discount but because we gave a 40% discount less than a day after you bought your products, we will make up the difference and give you a refund of the difference between the 40% and 15%. Thank you for being a loyal NOLO customer.”

Thank you for sending this Revdex.com complaint, and sorry for the delay in responding to this compaint.

Nolo actually refunded the ENTIRE AMOUNT on both Order # *** (14.87) and *** (57.18) in order to appease this customer on Feb 27, 2017. We refunded in full, including shipping and

told him that he could keep the books or donate them to his local library.

Nolo took this step in order to appease this customer, however we are not refunding an additional $20 to account for any time lost. We feel that this matter is settled, and appologize for

any confusion or hassle.

Best regards,

Nolo Customer Service

Revdex.com:
NOLO did more than I was requesting, I was asking for a 25% refund and they refunded the total amount. They did send an email telling me that I did not have to return the books.

I don't think NOLO realized I contacted the Revdex.com on this matter before they refunded the money and sent the email about the books.

I consider this matter closed.

Sincerely

Took my personal information, then sent bogus lawyer information. The lawyer could not be found and phone number was not in service. Beware....

I have an agreement set up with Nolo Advertising for attorneys. They supply me with Long Term Disability leads. I pay per lead. The leads that I pay for require a few items: 1) that the person actually purchased an Long Term Disability policy from their employer, 2) that the person not currently be receiving Long Term Disability, and 3) that the person not be working. However, I repeatedly received leads where the person did not purchase a Long Term Disability coverage policy. This makes the lead a Social Security Disability lead. I would submit the lead for credit, ask them to re-use it as a Social Security lead and send to attorney/customer who wants Social Security leads. Also, since August, I requested that my campaign be paused until we could work out my credit requests and stop sending me leads that do not meet the above mentioned criteria. Instead, they continue to send me leads and continue to charge me. This has been going on for 45 days. I have repeatedly submitted written requested to pause the leads, but they keep sending and charging me. I would like them to reimburse me for the leads they submitted to me over the last 45 days because I told them to stop. I also would like my deposit back of my remaining money. I have repeatedly asked to speak to a supervisor, but they will not speak with me.

Nolo Response

Attorney *** signed up with our lead generation services buying Social Security and Long Term Disability leads in May 2016. At that time we provided a welcome call that reviews accessing his dashboard (reporting interface), best practices for success and our lead credit policy.

In February 2017 he removed the Social Security leads from his campaigns, leaving only Long Term Disability that he mentions in his complaint. We have numerous email communications and phone call notes from calls he's had with his account manager *** recording the amount of pause requests we honored, lead credit policy questions, lead volume adjustments and more.

Attorney *** even increased in Long Term Disability lead volume, at his request, in March 2017.

The complaint was filed a year and a half into his program with us, and nothing on our side has changed from the way the leads are presented and the data points included. Attorney *** knows how our program works and that not all leads delivered will be viable cases. Additionally, he's been receiving Long Term Disalibilty leads from consumers that do and don't have a policy since the inception of his program so this is not a new phenomenon. Our lead generation program is built on being able to keep the cost per lead low because we don't filter any leads based on how the consumer answers the question set.

Additionally, in July 2017 Attorney *** contacted *** with the following notes showing that we've already extended him courtesy lead credits and a partial refund of $435 back to his credit card in good faith to continue the relationship:

Attorney *** has $153.60 left in his account balance which is again currently paused from 10/20-10/31. Once the pause is lifted we *** deliver the remaining leads to satisfy the terms of our agreement. His account with us will deactivate once that $153.60 is exhausted.
