Norato Construction Company, Inc Reviews (1)

Faulty installation resulting in damages that the company does not want to cover. In 2012 Norate Roofing installed a new roof at our house but put in the flashing around the chimney wrong, so that water was slowly leaking into the house. I noticed the damage after a heavy rain period this summer and contacted Norato. They came over and found the mistake they had made not even 2 years ago and repaired the flashing.I asked their sales rep to fix the water damage in our living room (stain on ceiling and wall) and more importantly to check the outside wall of the house for moisture and mold. I told the sales rep that Norato was liable for the damages and that is was their responsibility to make sure that there was no mold growing in our house after they did not install the flashing right. He did not want to be held responsible and came up with many excuses, but agreed to talk to his boss and to get back to me. He never did and every time I call their office, the secretary tells me the sales rep would call me back, but he never does.Desired SettlementFix the water stain on the ceiling and wall of our living room and paint one wall and the ceiling.Take off side panels and check for damages like moisture in insulation and sheet rook and mold. Repair damages and install side panels as they were before or replacements.Business Response Roof was installed on that property in December of 2011, when it was under a different owner. When the new owner contacted us about the problem on Sept. 8, 2014. The problem was immediately addressed and fixed within the same week. Regarding the stain on the ceiling from the leak, we offered to fix it and paint it, but customer wanted us to rip the drywall open and outside panels to heck for mold, when that would be totally unnecessary since the leak was addressed within the same week that she called the problem in. Mold is not a concern because in order to have mold it would have had to leak for a long period of time, and it's the homeowner's responsibility provide prompt notice of the problem, so that no further damage occurs. We offered homeowner to fix the small stain on the ceiling but she declined. We are willing to check for mold from inside of house. We would be glad to go and repair stain on ceiling, but her other demands are unreasonable and excessive, like removing the side panels of the house. Consumer Response The workers fixing the leak found a faulty flashing indicating that the roof had been leaking over a long period of time. It took a while and a lenghty rain period for the stain to form on the inside wall and ceiling. In this humid NC climate, mold can grow very fast and therefore my worry about mold growing in and on my home is not unreasonably. Since the company made the mistake from the start, I see it their responsibility to make sure that there are no long term damages on my home.It was stated that I declined the company's offer to fix the stain on the ceiling and wall, which is absolutely not true. Why would I decline an offer like that?Of course I want the stain fixed in a professional matter, so that afterwards you cannot tell that there ever was a stain. In order to that the ceiling and the one wall have to be painted, possibly some minor patching up with mud needs to be done as well. The company just offered to check for mold from the inside of the house, which is fine with me but I need to check with my own eyes when the workers are here to make sure that the check up is done right.Thank you and I look forward to hearing from as soon as possible. You should have my contact info on file.
