[redacted] Insurance didn't do what they were supposed to do which resulted in a vehicle that your company insures getting towed$of my hard earned money went to the cityThe policy was effective 11/22/but the car get towed 12/6/for not being insuredSomething has to be done about this

RevDex.com: I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # [redacted] . . I am correcting the incorrect information given to bbb by the Dedham and Norfolk ins company.1-They claim that I , the daughter, received the forwarded mail. "It appears as though all mail was being properly forwarded to the policyholder’s daughter as requested, but apparently, no action was taken until the collections notices were received" I in fact never received ANYTHING FROM THEM, no policy, no bills nothing until I received the collection notices. I did receive an e-mail from [redacted] saying they were no longer insuring my mother's address. It was not long after that I contacted the insurance agent who told me N+D was covering my mother's home. I researched the company and based on their very poor reviews asked for the policy to be cancelled and another company to be found. They was November. Only then was I asked if the house was vacant and told that the N+D policy would not have covered any claim had something happened to my mother's home because they did not offer vacant home policies. Still never received a bill and assumed the policy had been cancelled. The agent found a company that did provide vacant home coverage and received a bill with a policy from that company in dec 2016. TO THIS DAY I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE A BILL OR POLICY FROM N+D. I paid the bill and I have no clue what I was payed for. I have to take their word that I was being properly charged? Who in their right mind would pay a bill they never received on a policy they never saw??? They told me to contact the agency to get copies of the bills and policy and was told the bills came from the insurance co.2-They also falsely claim they would have paid a claim if something had happened to my mother's house when they were insuring it. The head underwriter I spoke to said she could not tell me if the claim would have been paid because the claim would have gone to a different dept.I AM POSITIVE THEY WOULD NOT HAVE PAID ONCE THEY LEARNED THE HOUSE WAS VACANT. 3- A representative of the ins co went to the house to inspect it , so I am told BY THE UNDERWRITER and didn't notice it was vacant??? There was no furniture in the house and a FOR SALE sign. Regards, [redacted]

[redacted] Insurance didn't do what they were supposed to do which resulted in a vehicle that your company insures getting towed. $100.00 of my hard earned money went to the city. The policy was effective 11/22/2016 but the car get towed 12/6/2016 for not being insured. Something has to be done about this.

At the direction of the policyholder’s independent insurance agent, a homeowner policy was issued on 9/15/16 with an effective date of 11/16/16, intended to replace the expiring policy previously issued by [redacted] Insurance Company. Consistent with Massachusetts laws and regulations, the new...

homeowners policy was delivered to the agent for mailing to the policyholder. The bill was mailed directly to the policyholder. A reminder notice was mailed to the policyholder on 11/21/16.An intent to cancel notice was mailed to the policyholder on 12/01/16. The policy cancelled for non-payment of premium effective on 12/29/16. On 12/29/16, an earned premium letter was mailed to the policyholder advising that $293 earned premium was due on the policy. On 1/26/17, a second earned premium letter was mailed to the policyholder advising that $293 earned premium was due on the policy. On 1/23/17, the agent did send in a change of mailing address but the policy had already been cancelled effective 12/29/16. The agent called on 4/14/17 to see if the cancellation could be revised back to 11/16/16, the effective date of the policy since the insured risk was vacant. Thereafter, the agent sent another e-mail on 4/19/17 advising that all mail sent to the policyholder’s address was being returned with a request to forward all mail to a forwarding address, which appears to be the daughter’s address. The agent indicated that he had been contacted by the policyholder’s daughter who advised that the policyholder had been in an assisted living facility since 2015 and also that she received a notice from the collection agency for premium due in the amount of $293.00.  The agent asked N&D® to waive the earned premium of $293 since dwelling had been vacant.  Upon management review, it was determined that we could not revise the cancellation or waive the earned premium since our policy was inforce up until the cancellation date and did afford both property and liability coverage.  The Norfolk and Dedham [N&D®] would have been liable for any claim presented during that time [other than vandalism and malicious mischief, since this type of claim is excluded when the property has been vacant more than 60 days]. It appears as though all mail was being properly forwarded to the policyholder’s daughter as requested, but apparently, no action was taken until the collections notices were received. The daughter of the policyholder called N&D® directly and spoke to the supervisor of the personal lines department.  She was advised that N&D® was not able to waive the $293 earned premium. The supervisor explained that coverage was afforded for 11/16/16-12/29/16 and even though vacant, covered perils other than vandalism and malicious mischief would have been covered by the insurance policy. The caller was encouraged to call the agent to discuss any other options she might have.
