Going to Norman HVAC is probably the worst decision I have ever made, and I smoke a pack of cigarettes a day. One year ago, I mistakenly called Norman HVAC to fix a part for me. They saw this as a business opportunity to rip off broke college students. I at first had to pay around $350. A little less than one year later, I had to pay them another $350 to fix the exact same thing they told me they “fixed” the year before. It seems that they are in the game of charging people an extreme amount of money each year to fix the same fricking thing each year

Unfortunately the manufacturers warranty is something we cannot control. Norman HVAC had made amends and refunded the money that I paid. They are not so bad after all.

I called Norman Heat and Air for a repair of my AC unit on 7/4/2018. I notified them over the phone that I was just needing the capacitor on my AC replaced, and since the stores were closed for me to purchase it from that I was needing them to do it for me.
I was notified that the holiday pricing was $120 for the service call + parts. I thought that was reasonable for an after-hour/holiday rate.
When the technician showed up to replace the part I was then notified that they sell the capacitor was $213. Since capacitors routinely sell for $15-$25, that is a $200 markup. I felt pressured to then buy the part since I was at that point already stuck with the $120 trip charge just for them to tell me that they have a 1,000% markup on the part I told them I was needing.
I believe this is a terrible way to do business. Get the customer stuck on a fixed cost for the trip, then price gouge them for the parts they requested over the phone.

Thank you for your review and we are sorry that you felt it was a negative experience. We did show up within a few hours on the 4th of July. We did inform you of the $120 trip and diagnostic charge for the holiday and that repairs would be an additional charge. While you may find similar parts online cheaper, our repair price includes a made in the USA part with labor warranty we provide plus the labor, licenses, tools and knowledge to make the quality repair. Our pricing is very competitive and would be in line with any other reputable company. Once again thank you for your review. We appreciate your feedback.

I did acknowledge that the $120 trip charge was reasonable in the review above, however what was not reasonable is the part cost. The similar part was from my local Locke Supply, not the internet. The cost of the part is $19.19 at Locke Supply and is also a quality Made in USA part with a manufacturers warranty. The $200 difference between the part costs is very steep since the replacement of the part consists of removing 3 screws and 3 wires.

I used Norman Heating and Air for the first time today when my air condition stopped working. They were very customer service friendly and our technician Cody was very professional! I really appreciated the promptness of the service!

I did some extensive research before calling this company. Excellent service! I would definitely recommend them and they are the only company I will use from now on!

Steven came for the initial inspection. He was patient and attentive while I showed him what I thought was wrong. He then explained what he was doing while I watched (I like to learn) and he told me what he found. He was very patient with my many questions and obviously knew exactly what he was doing. (And yes, I was correct in my assessment... lol.)

The next morning two gentlemen came to do the repair and Steven joined them later. They were quick, efficient and very courteous. (Forgive me for not remembering their names.)

Steven had suggested a spray to treat the vent covers and I failed to write it down. I called their office later and they got a hold of him to find it out for me, as well as another question or two. Brian and Brandi were also very patient and considerate, making sure to address my questions and concerns throughout this process. Most places I've called in the past were blunt if not rude. These folks know how to treat people, as well as how to do the job. So glad I found them!

Terrance came out, looked at the heating unit in my home for 20min., told my wife who was home alone that the unit was leaking carbon monoxide, and had to be shut off by law. Terrance showed my wife pics. of a heat exchanger with holes in it saying this was the issue with our unit and where the fumes were leaking from. He texted me the pics as I was at work and explained to us how he did not wish to take advantage of someone that did not know about heat and air units and that it was uneconomical to not buy a new whole house system. Depending on options this would have cost about $6200-$7000. I decided to get a second opinion and found out from another HVAC service that my blower motor was bad and that the pics I had been sent were not even of a unit the same size as mine. I now have a working unit for $350

We take any complaint very serious. Our technician correctly diagnosed the heat exchanger and sent pics to the home owner of the issue. The pics sent were from the homeowners unit. We have offered to go to the home and show the homeowner exactly the issue and where the pic was taken to verify they are correct. The company that came out behind us said they were fake pics from another unit. That was incorrect. We are refunding the trip and diagnostic fee for coming out since the customer was not satisfied. We are hoping the homeowner will let us come verify the pictures to prove we were correct and that we were looking out for their best interest and not trying to scam them or rip them off.

I was promised a service call fee would not be charged but was charged for it. I have written emails and made three telephone calls requesting a refund. Each time I was promised the refund was forthcoming. Although 6 weeks has passed since the charge I still have not received the refund.

We did tell the customer that he would receive a refund for the $84 trip and diagnostic fee. It has not been six weeks since we told him that. We talked to him less than a week ago and sent the check out the next day. That has been less than a week ago. Not sure if he hasn't received the check or not. I'm guessing it has not arrived since he filed this complaint. Will try to make contact with him today to verify he has not received a check and get him another check if necessary. We have worked with him every step of the way.

I am rejecting this response because: The business has consistently acted in an unprofessional manner. Their response is only an extension of refusing to take responsibility for the entire episode. The refund should have been by all rights forthcoming with no action at all on my part. That would have been the honest thing to do. Yet I had to call over and over at two week periods to request the refund. First, Brandy (office worker) told me me that the credit card service they use couldn't perform a refund. I find that extremely suspicious excuse. They told me on two different dates weeks apart that checks had been mailed either that day or in the previous week. If those checks had been mailed as they said they were I would have received at least one of them. Yesterday, over six weeks following the initial service call, the firm sent a technician to hand deliver a check to me.

Therefore, although I reject this response as disreputable and dishonest, as this was all I ever expected from this business, I now consider the matter closed.

However, I strongly urge the Revdex.com of Central Oklahoma to lower the rating for this business until such time that they can demonstrate above board honesty and proficiency in positive customer relations, and show they that understand that by refusing to treat their customers with the respect they deserve Norman Heat and Air Conditioning will continue to erode trust not only from their enterprise, but from all related businesses in the vicinity.
