on March 7, 2019 North American Builder's, its president *** and I agreed on a contract for him to build a terrace attached to my property. Mr. requested that I pay him 20% up front to get the permit and plans taken care of and then 50% once construction would start. I have paid what was asked and Mr. has not lived up to his end of the deal. He has a total of $17, 000.00 out of $24,000.00 total project, and is refusing to complete the work unless I agree to pay him additional funds on top of what is owed, there is maybe 10% of the work completed. He claims he has spent all the money paid to him on the project, however I recently received a Notice to Owner from a company in which he still owes money to because of materials he ordered but has not installed yet. He claims he had already paid these funds in previous emails. His license was suspended before the work began and he hid the fact that it was suspended and started the work regardless of the fact he was not licensed and did not inform me. He has abandoned the job and has not come to work in over 60 days.
Refund I would like for North American Builders and *** to refund me my money as I have had to hire a different contractor and am having to pay more for the project because of his refusal to complete what is written on his contract that I signed.
I was informed about this complaint one week ago by email. I will be contacting my attorney if any derogatory remarks were published without a proper investigation which has been conducted by the state of florida and I have not violated any building codes . This is a civil matter and Mr. defaulted on our contract.

Mr. is falsely claiming that I was in default of my contract but in reality he is the one who defaulted on the contract. I paid for a service and he did not provide the service he agreed to. He received 70% of the money to build a terrace and he completed less than 10% of the work. I have had to fix the mistakes he has made.

Mr. contract which he signed noted a patio roof extension for 500 sqft when it was proposed. Mr. did not meet the set back requirements so we submitted for a variance and it got approved . When plans were approved and *** and he approved the noted changes to commence construction immediately as he had a timeline he wanted to meet. We began construction and layed out with spray paint the foundation plan and Mr *** deviated from the approved plans dimension. In total the footprint of the revised smaller area was 200 sqrt more of construction work and he did not want to pay anymore than the contract agreement we agreed upon . I presented him with a proper change order as our agreement had noted but he refused to pay this after the work and material were on site and foundation and steel structure had already been erected. I offered him to split the cost to pay for addition material involved and I would do the labor at no additional cost.. Mr *** got hostile and threatened to ruin my licenses and business if I did not do the additional 200 sqft at my expense.
" I dont care if you loose money , You need to take a second mortgage on your house to pay for this" that's when the harrassement started and never stopped. Relationship soured and he did a change of contractor and finished the project without paying us for the steel work that was completed. N.A.B has been a licensed construction Company for 20 years and have been reliable and customer service is our priority. Check out our history I belive this is our first .

Mr. did not listen to anything I asked him to do and I had to correct the size of the terrace I was the one who asked for a 500 square foot terrace and he proceeded to begin a terrace that was much bigger than what I asked for. I had to stop him before he began excavating to correct his mistakes. Now he wants me to pay for the mistakes he created and wants to call them a small change order for over 33% of the total cost of monies we agreed to. You can check his lines as he has more than one complaint on his license for the same reason. It seems this is a trend for him and his business.
