The company listed told me was a finalist to win a 1,000,000 dollar sweepstakes, and a 500 dollar gift card if I signed up for their magazine offer. They said I could cancel at any if I was not satisfied. I would receive the gift card within 7 days of signing up.I payed them 19.95 in March and signed up.I waited a few weeks and received nothing. I became suspicious and called to cancel their offer in April, I talked with a female who told me I was to late to cancel the offer. I had to pay them the money anyways, but she could make me a deal for less money but there was no way to get out of my contract because it was recorded. Reluctantly I took her offer. She asked for 39.90 to change my contract.I payed feeling I had no other choice. This was payed in April. A few more weeks went by and I still receiver nothing.I called back and talked to Eric.He also informed me I could not get out of my contract, but he could offer me a better deal. Once again I reluctantly agreed. This time he said if I agreed I could get out of my contract for three payments of 79.80.If not , I owed the original amount of 1,197 dollars. So feeling trapped I once again agreed. In June they took 79.90 out of my account. Now they sent me a litter telling me I owed them 877.80.I have called several times to try and resolve this with no luck. I get a recording saying they are training and to call back.I want nothing more to do with this company. I want out of my contract and would like my money back.Order_Number:[redacted]Desired SettlementI had no idea this was a contract by recording me.I want out of my contract and would like my money back. I do not want any contact from this company. They need to be shut down before they take advantage of anyone elseFinal Consumer Response North American Direct contacted me by mail and said they would let me out of my contract. No further payments. Thank you for your help, [redacted]

They called me, said I won and said for $29 I could also get some magazines. They said nothing about more charges every month. They lied to me.They made the initial contact. I did not call them until I figured out they wanted more than the first $29. I then called them and told them to stop taking money out of my account. I went to my bank and changed my debit card. They then started sending me harassing mail saying I owed them $867.10 and said they were sending my account to a collection agency. Then I started getting harassing letters from [redacted], Inc., a collection agency in Minnesota. I told them I was going to file a complaint against them with the attorney general but they still sent me harassing invoices.Desired SettlementI want the initial $29.50 back because they lied to me about winning anything and I want them to stop sending me harassing invoice letters and notices and the collection agency to also stop harassing me as both companies are a giant scam and not giving prizes or anything to anyone, only taking money out of people's bank accounts. I did not even get any magazines in the mail even though they said I was getting some magazines in a few days.

The company advertised itself as [redacted]. Received a phone call from collection agency collecting for magazines not agreed to.Received a phone call from a collection agency stating that one year's subscriptions was due for magazine purchases. This is the first that was heard since the initial phone call. What was agreed to was a 3 month subscription to increase odds of winning, and was already paid. Never was a one year subscription agreed to. The collection agency Total Customer Service, Inc said that it had to be resolved with North American Direct Services, who we had never heard of. Placed a call to them about the issue, said someone would have to get back with us, never did. Explained that we did not have a phone call with North American Direct, the individual we spoke with stated they were from [redacted]. Called [redacted] after contacted by collection agency, they have no records of processing the order or having anyone contact us. This was a total scam by North American Direct Services, from the beginning, stating they were calling from Publishers Clearing House. Now they are stating we agreed to a one year subscription in lieu of the 3 months already paid. Since it was false advertising from the beginning, not only should the collection agency be stopped but a refund should be issued, as it was sold to receive an advantage in the [redacted] drawing, which was false.Desired Settlementto have the collection agency stop it's process and if possible get a refund.Business Response Re: Complaint # [redacted], [redacted] for [redacted] Dear Sir/ Madam:Thank you for taking the time to forward [redacted]'s concerns pertaining to his wife [redacted] and her subscription service with North American Direct Services. I feel it necessary to clarify that North American Direct Services has no affiliation with "PCH". As such, North American Direct Services made no reference to "PCH" at any point during the presentation of our magazine service. I have reviewed our files, which indicate that [redacted] was contacted by a representative from our sales division and agreed to purchase this subscription service on March 31, 2015. The details of the subscription agreement were presented at length both verbally and in writing. With [redacted]'s continued acceptance, her final service agreement confirmation letter was sent the following day. The letter restated the magazine titles, the number of issues for each magazine, her monthly payment plan, and the total sales price. On April 21, 2015, we received a magazine change request from [redacted] through the mail. She wanted to remove Car & Driver and ESPN magazines and replace with Popular Science and Code magazine. The changes were made upon receipt. On June 1, we received notification that [redacted]'s credit card was in a decline status; therefore, her monthly payment could not be processed. Representatives from our billing department attempted to contact [redacted] to offer assistance in making alternative arrangements; however, they were not able to reach her. Subsequently, [redacted]'s account was transferred to another office for further handling. We were not aware of [redacted]'s concerns or misunderstanding of the terms and conditions surrounding her service until now. Please be advised that upon receipt of this information, [redacted]'s account was returned to our office and is now canceled. Be assured that [redacted] has no further financial obligation to our company and we will not contact her again. Very truly yours,[redacted]Client Service Supervisor

I was just contacted by a woman that at first claimed that I was a top finalist for Publisher clearing house million dollar prize... The caller ID, showed my own home state area code. Her call was very scripted, eventually I was to also receive 6 free magazines... I knew this was a scam... and eventually she said she was North American direct services... be very careful, this feels like a scam... I hung up ","neg-2

Be very careful when dealing with this company. The sales associate will assure you that you can cancel the subscription at any time but this is not the case. During the initial conversation with the sales person, I asked to have the magazine shipped to an APO (family member serving in the Army over seas) and after confirming it was possible, double checking with a supervisor and confirming the address, they ended up coming to my house. Also during that call I repeatedly asked in several different ways, if when the family member's tour was up in a year or two, would I be able to cancel the subscriptions, stop magazine delivery and have no further payments, penalties or charges to my credit card. I was assured, while they would prefer I didn't cancel, that it would be possible. My family member's tour was cut short and when I went to cancel it took multiple calls to get a supervisor on the phone who was very polite but would not let me cancel until I explained that the recording of the sales call would confirm that the sales associate agreed that I would be able to call and cancel at any time and no further charges or payments would be required. This is not a business I would recommend to work with as they pre-order magazines from the publishers and seek to resell the orders with a mark-up. This walks the line of fraud and I worry that people, especially the elderly, would fall prey to this company's practices. As a note, they did cancel the subscription and close the account without further charges, but I never would have signed up for the service if they had been honest about their terms.","neg-4

I got a call from North American Direct Services, saying I was selected as a top contenter of 15 people to win $1M. I was told that I was also eligible for a lot of other prizes, and $500 giftcard to use at [redacted], [redacted] or wherever.
They claimed they where working with [redacted] and that [redacted], [redacted], [redacted] and [redacted] was sponsoring this sweepstake. I was also told that I should pick a card I wanted to be my sponsor if I had multiple cards. In addition, [redacted] would provide me with four free magazines of my choice for the next 60 months.
It all sounded great, until I was asked to give my card number and expiration date (they already had my address), which made me concerned. So I asked them to stay on the line while I called [redacted] to verify that [redacted] was indeed participating in this sweepstake.
[redacted] said they had never heard of it, so this is a COMPLETE scam. Don't give these people ANY information! This is an illegal operation!

this company is charging more than what was initially made. first of all, it was discussed that the charges were to be $ 19.95 per month. I have come to find out, we are being charged $39.90 per month. my wife specifically ordered certain magazines, for which she did not receive a single one. instead, she received everything but what she ordered. garbage magazines about movie stars....come on. some men's magazines....I don't have time to read magazines and further more...they want $ 798.00 to pay off this so called debt. that is just not going to happen. This company misrepresents themselves when they contact you by phone. They tell you you'v that they can give you free magazines and a package of $500 in savings vouchers for paying a fee of $39.90. When asked if it is one time they lead you to believe it is a one time payment of $39.90. No one tells you that it is a monthly contract. I've paid over $500 for magazines I've haven't even looked out or ever wanted and today I talk to someone to complain and they say there is nothing I can do. They say they can give me a 10% discount. A discount for something I never wanted in the first place. They never tell you it is a contract for 5 years. This is a fraud. They misrepresent themselves.Desired SettlementI want the company to stop charging me and to d me each month and stop sending me the stupid magazines I never wanted in the first place. Sincerely,[redacted]Client Service Supervisor Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)I am completely satisfied if the company stops billing me. I'm tired of overpaying for magazines that I never read. I don't remember this company contacting me or me contacting them saying I was behind. Nor do I ever remember making a separate account. I think it's just a way for this company to con people out of even more money. I hope that I will be rid of this company for good. Thanks for your help.

This complaint is in regards to scam-like advertising services and failure to follow commitment initially made when I first signed up for service. My complaint is very straightforward and matches so many other complaints reported to the Revdex.com. This company basically called saying I was the finalist in some contest and that basically all I needed to do was sign up for there magazine service and then continue to lookout for a call on my status in the contest. Normally I am very smart and this should have been an immediate red flag of a setup of some sort, however that particular day I was persuaded successfully by NA Direct Services and signed up for the service because at the time it did sound extremely convincing. I was even promised that if I felt uncomfortable or didn't want to continue the service for any reason, I was free to cancel at anytime because this wasn't a contract related service. To no surprise, that was a complete lie as I realized I never heard anything further from this service for months. Late last year I attempted for the first time to cancel this service and suspend payment immediately, however I was then greeted with the statement that they company had already paid for the magazine service in full and as a result I could not cancel as was under obligation to fulfill all the payments. As one can expect, I was extremely upset with that response and told them what I was intially promised, however they said this should have been covered before I verbally gave authorization for the payments to commence. Since I have attempted multiple times since then to seize payments immediately with no success, and have so far only been successful in putting my payments on hold for several months at a time, I am now elevating this to the Revdex.com with hopes of resolutionDesired SettlementI simply wish for the immediate cancellation of all services with North American Direct Services, for the remaining balance to be immediately cancelled and to never be contacted by this company again for any related services as I do not trust nor agree with their business practices.Business Response Re: Complaint # [redacted], [redacted]Dear Sir/ Madam:Thank you for taking the time to forward [redacted] information reading his subscription service with North American Direct Services. We have had active and constructive dialogue with [redacted] on several occasions. On May 15, 2014, [redacted]t contacted our office and spoke with a representative in our billing department. [redacted]t explained that he was unable to make a payment at that time to bring his account current. In an effort to assist him, our representative offered to defer billing for 60 days as well as lower the amount of his monthly payment. [redacted]t indicated that this was reasonable and acceptable at that time.
