Free dried and sealed never opened 2 years later I had 10 pouches of each that were all soggy trash. North Bay said the bags must have gotten a hole in them they blamed it on me.I took them out of there shipping box and put them in 5 gallon buckets the day they arrived.
I have had freeze dried military fruit 30 years old and it was always fresh and crisp.
No refund No replacements.Buyer be ware.Don't buy there fruit.

Review: I ordered butternut squash from North Bay Trading Company on 6/16/14. When the product arrived, it looked nothing like the picture on the website , which shows vibrant orange squash and nowhere mentions that it is filled with skins and pebble-like pieces of stalk. When I re-hydrated and fully cooked the product as directed, I discovered the problem. The skin and pebble-like pieces of stalk are throughout the product and since, the product is diced very finely, the entire product is inedible. I nearly broke a tooth trying to eat it and later had a stomachache. I would never have purchased the product had I known the truth. I have been eating butternut squash my whole life and don’t know anyone who eats the skin (which contains all the pesticides) or the stalk.

In the morning of 6/17, I called the vendor to explain the problem, assuming it was a problem with this particular lot. She said they were no longer selling this lot. Yet, when she reported back to me by email on 6/18, she said that this lot was “typical” and “nothing out of the ordinary.” Obviously, she had not seen the product her company sent me. When I look at it now, I can see that it is filled with light colored skins and pebble-like pieces of stalk (which explains why the product doesn’t resemble the photograph on the company website). [redacted]’s email said the company cannot take back food products and merely “apologized for the inconvenience.”

I called [redacted] again on 6/18, explaining that her email was unsatisfactory and that I expected the company to rectify the problem. I spent a lot of money on this squash ($319.50) and expected an edible product. I told her the company website is deceptive – the photograph shows bright orange butternut squash and nowhere indicates that it contains skins and stalks. She put me on hold for a few minutes and then a man named [redacted] came on the phone. I reiterated the problem (which he seemed to be familiar with) and he asked me what I expected them to do. I told them that I didn’t expect to pay for a product when it had been misrepresented and it was inedible. He merely repeated what [redacted] had stated by email, that the product was “typical” and has not received other complaints. When I told him that, if he would not rectify this matter, I would have to take other steps to do so, he became hostile and abruptly ended the conversation.

I am now left with a product I have to throw away. If not for the misrepresentation, I would not have purchased it. I was induced by the company’s deceptive photograph and failure to provide material information about the product – Had the company mentioned that it looked nothing like the photograph and contained pieces of skin and tiny pebble-like pieces of stalk, I never would have purchased it. I am now requesting a refund of the purchase price ($319.50).

Response:

Both North Bay Trading and North Bay Trading's vendor carefully checked the lot representing this product for appearance, taste, and texture. These characteristics were found to be within typical standards. This seems to be a situation where the customer dislikes the product versus a situation where there is something wrong with the product. Our website asks customers to order small sizes for product evaluation before ordering large bulk sizes. This customer ordered the largest size possible, which is 50 lbs. We also offer 8.8 oz, 2.5 lbs, and 15 lbs. Since customer has opened and used product from the bulk 50 lb case, we would not be able to return this product to inventory. Does both the Revdex.com and customer feel a 100% refund is a fair resolution? Or can we meet in the middle on this by any chance?
