The credit policy of North Bend Medical Center is and has been for over years, that if a new patient presents without health insurance, we ask that patient for a $deposita deposit is a down payment on the visit. Anything that is over that amount is billed to the patient, and they
are allowed to make monthly payments on the remaining balance. A subsequent visit for the same patient, we require a $deposit, again a down payment on what the cost of the visit will be, any balance above that is added to the patient balance
A deposit is a well used tool in the medical community to assure that the provider get's 'something" for their services, as a new patient with no health insurance has not established any type of credit with us. Also it is a well known fact that a policy is established due to lessons learned, and prior to the policy we would see uninsured patients, not collect a deposit, and then it would be the last that we see of that patient. Many services that I am aware of require a deposit or payment in advancesuch as a prescription being paid for in advance and dental work. I know that our neighboring clinic, Bay Clinic also requires their non insured patients to make a down payment/deposit
North Bend Medical Center has one fee schedule for our uninsured patients or insuranced covered patients. Our fee's are based on a small percentage over what insurance companies pay us. We feel our fee schedule is fair and competitive with other medical clinics. I have no other obligation to justify our fee's
The patient was seen for a general adult medical examination and a problem focused exam for medical problems found during that exam or brought up by the patient that are not part of an adult physical
This patient might be eligible for a reduction based on her income. The Myrtle Point clinic where the patient was seen is a part of the National Health Services Corp, where we can offer a discount based on the patients income, and number of people in the household. I have never spoken to the patient, and I have just made the new staff in our Myrtle Point office aware of this program probably week ago. I will mail to the patient a short application and postage paid envelope to return it to me to be reviewed.
Any questions or concerns, I would be happy to address
Sincerely,
Liz G*** / Billing Manager
