Open a [redacted] 36 to 59 month certificate and cloesed account. My 1099 statemnet is incorrect and the bank want correct the error they admitted to.I opened a [redacted] certificate that mature and the bank sent a letter for me to roll it over or close out the account. I closed it out. I got my 1099 statement and had my taxes filed at[redacted] and was told the 1099 was incorrect. I was only supposed to pay the 10% early withdrawal and not have the full amount withdrawn added to my gross income which the bank stated a form 8606 needs to be filed. I contacted the bank several times to get this corrected with no luck. Also the information on the account is misleading. 1. Its being called a [redacted] which if this is the case taxes are taken out up front. 2nd its called a certificate which matures at 36 to 59 months which it was in for that amount of time. I'm not getting the benefits as a [redacted] or certificate. Now I'm having to pay taxes on the full amount which $8K was my initial amount to open the account which mature to $9494.44. The bank admitted that the gross amount $9494.44 shouldnt be added to my gross income on my taxes. But I dont have anything to reflect what there saying to have my taxes admended. I am not getting anywhere with the bank and I'm getting the impression they just hope I stop calling. This is false misleading advertisement. Either its a [redacted] with [redacted] benefits or a certificate. I couldnt contribute to this account, if its a [redacted] I should have been able to contribute to this account again misleading. This is costing me money. An early withdrawal penalty was assess on an account that matured and I got a letter from the bank asking me to roll it over or have it taken out. This misleading information favors the bank, whatever rulles apply that benefits the bank. Desired SettlementI want a corrected copy of my 1099 and the cost of possibly consulting a CPA which the bank wants me to seek and ignore the advice of a well establish H&R Block company that has done my taxes with no problems for the past 5 years.Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted] CEOContact Phone: [redacted] ex [redacted]Contact Email: [redacted]We can not discuss a member's information with an outside party due to Federal Privacy Regulations.
