Company is not trying to fix home that was damaged due to a tree falling on it. The company sent out a check that will by no means cover damages. My name is [redacted]. My brother, sister and I own a home located at [redacted]. We have homeowner's insurance with this company. On June 20,2014 a huge tree fell on the home causing major damage to the home. On June 27th an adjustor came out to access the home for damages. He stated that there was a tremendous amount of damage, but thought the home was repairable. My sister received a check in the mail for a little over 35K and 29K is what my letter states that the damages and repairs are gonna cost. My name is on this policy also, but the Claims Rep refuses to talk to me about what is going on. My sister advised that the company wanted an estimate, which I got and it was faxed to the company. The Claims Rep is still giving us the run around on repairing the house. The Rep has also called the contractor that gave us the estimate and talk to him about going the "cheap" way out to make repairs to the home. The rep has also talked to the contractor and advised that there was "just certain things that they weren't going to pay for." Since June 20th, we have had numerous days of rain and more damages have been done because it has been raining inside the home. There has been excess damages done to the walls, ceilings and floors. There is also now mold and mildew located inside the house. I feel that the reason we have insurance with this company is to protect our property. In my opinion, this property is similar to that of an automobile...when a person has an accident either the vehicle is repaired or it is totalled. We were told that the house is repairable, but this insurance company is not making that happen. It has been almost 2 months and the house is still sitting getting more damage.Desired SettlementPersonally, I feel that with all the damages thatwas incurred on June 20th and the damages that have been done with all the rain that the house should be totalled. The longer the house sit, the more damage is taking place.
