North Coast Photographic Services Reviews (6)

I was not satisfied with the scans of 120mm film I received from North Coast Photography Services and this is the response I received from the owner Michael, I am the owner, and generally speaking I stay out of my general managers correspondence, however in this case I'm going to make an exception I'm going to cover a couple things here and I hope you consider what I'm saying and rethink your position First off is you purchased 2-$scansBasically the price of McDonalds Quarter Pounders with cheeseSo let's be realistic about expectations Second would be, if you wish to be heard, do not insult us with things like your quote "I have an old Polaroid film scanner that unfortunately is out dated with today's computers but it provided better quality scans than what your equipment does" I have invested years as owner of North Coast Photo and have spent over $1,000,dollars on top of the line equipment On top of that, I earn 90% of my living since as a professional photographer When I see you basically sell ink jet prints, do not talk to us about quality I see you have had about K visitors to your site, while that is great, we have 15,unique clients in the past year alone using our services from around the world Now, to move forwardPlease refrain from ever using my lab again in the future and I hope you can find wht you are looking for, which to me would be cheap, but great, scans

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. On January, 7th, 2015, I purchased a scanning service based on the oral contract with the manager, specifying that there would be no cropping of my photography, except for a possible hairline on the top and/or bottom of the image. Before paying, I specifically asked the manager of North Coast Photo if it was possible to scan my cut negative film without any croppingThe manager assured me the only cropping involved would be "maybe a hairline on the top or bottom" (exact words from the manager). I agreed to a possible "hairline" of cropping and to pay extra for special film mountingI received significantly cropped, worthless scans, around the entire image frame (photos attached)I have never purchased or requested "uncropped scanning of cut negative film" from ANY business, including North Coast PhotoIn 2011, I placed an order of standard positive slide film scans, without any special requestsThe only credit I was offered was to pay an addition $(approx.) toward a more expensive scanning service; using the $I have already paid + an additional $out of my pocket, for scans done correctly without cropping, as I had originally purchased and not received

In the matter of this case we are not willing to continue to pursue any further actionWe were trying to come to a compromise with the customer, and her husband came in and threatened our owner and our staffDue to her husbands physical and verbal violence, we will not be working with this
customer any furtherWe threatened to call the policeThe only reason we did not was because we no longer wish to have any communication with the complainant and her husband.
We were trying to come to a compromise which would please all parties involved, but once her husband physically touched three of our employees (not including the owner) the communication is now permanently endedIt took three employees to hold Mr* back as he tried to approach the ownerHe was yelling things such as, "Come outside I'm going to kick your ***", "I want my *** money back", and "You want to hit me old man." We have plenty of witnesses of this encounterWe do not offer refunds when the customer has the actual product at home alreadyThe services had been rendered, therefore, we could not give a refundWe have spent hours trying to please her, but in reality, her expectations exceed the capabilities of the machineThe manual labor which went into her order cannot be undone.
She had the same service done years ago, in which she had no issue.
Respectfully,

Michael, I am the owner, and generally speaking I stay out of my general managers correspondence, however in this case I'm going to make an exception.
I'm going to cover a couple things here and I hope you consider what I'm saying and rethink your position.
First off is you purchased 2-$2.25 scans. Basically the price of 2 McDonalds Quarter Pounders with cheese. So let's be realistic about expectations.
Second would be, if you wish to be heard, do not insult us with things like your quote "I have an old Polaroid 120 film scanner that unfortunately is out dated with today's computers but it provided better quality scans than what your equipment does".
I have invested 38 years as owner of North Coast Photo and have spent over $1,000,000.00 dollars on top of the line equipment.
On top of that, I earn 90% of my living since 1971 as a professional photographer.
When I see you basically sell ink jet prints, do not talk to us about quality.
I see you have had about 22 K visitors to your site, while that is great, we have 15,765 unique clients in the past year alone using our services from around the world.
Now, to move forward. Please refrain from ever using my lab again in the future and I hope you can find wht you are looking for, which to me would be cheap, but great, scans.

Review: On January 7th, 2015, I was promised a scanning service that was not delivered as described and promised by the manager. Before purchasing, I specified that I did not want my photography film negatives to be cropped when scanned, that I wanted the entire frame showing. The manager assured me they would not be cropped. I proceeded with the service, the scanning of 49 film negatives, and I was given significantly cropped scans back. I was refused a refund for this service.Desired Settlement: A refund of $145.53, the amount of the promised service.
