Initial Business Response /* (1000, 6, 2016/05/11) */
This job was a complex build, that other contractors had refused to take it onWe were really excited about this project, because it was a challenge and we knew we would do an excellent jobThe finish product is one we worked hard on and are
really proud ofTo accommodate our client's budget, we came down on our end to meet themAll materials were bought and delivered to site, with no cost to the client, and the project was finished weeks ahead of schedule
When the deck was completed it was stunning, we cleaned the whole area, the client had nothing to say about the work and was upset that our company did not accept credit cardsUp until this point we had not accepted credit card payment, in our years of operationIn an attempt to accommodate this client's strong request to pay by credit, we went out and purchased the means to facilitate this transactionAs the payment of credit was not discussed at the time of the initial quote, when our research showed that an additional 3% would be tacked on for a major credit card serviceWe let the client know that there would be an additional charge to use credit, but, if the customer chose to pay via, cash, cheque or interact Etransfer the original quote would standAs we have never worked with credit before, our initial response was unaware of the additional 3%To set up for this service is another fee as well, which we were looking into specifically for this customer, as before mentioned, we have never used Credit as a payment option, and many retailers add on the additional percentage tacked on by the credit serviceAn estimate is an estimate only, and it subjected to change when the costs ariseOn our end we received an extra cost for this requested serviceThis 3% will become standard practice for our business and be outlined in all future contracts, and will only apply to credit transactions
Our view of the client's behaviour has been money motivated to reduce costs of the bill in any aspect possibleHis most recent attempt to reduce the bill was in an email sent me that he would retract his Revdex.com complaint if we would accept his lower offerThe money he is withholding is for a project that is complete *** *** *** In this case, we went out of our way to work within our client's budget, and had come down again on the price outlined in the final invoice, we also agreed to absorb the 3% credit chargeClient requested additional work on the deck, we accepted his request based on a complimentary extra provided by the company, as a credit to the work we doThe client also asked that we including fence posts which we added on the invoice for $100, which is actually at a loss for usThe additional work was never completed, it was scheduled for the next day, but following the dispute the project came to an abrupt halt when the finances were with-heldThe charges for the posts have been removed from the invoice, the remaining balance is $+gstWe were then at a stand-still for that work day, as we were scheduled to be on his site

Our desired outcome of this situation, which has been our stance since the beginning is to be paid for the materials and installation of the deck for this clientWe came down from the original $quote and put forward $3900+gstAdditionally, we told the client we would absorb the 3% cost of the credit transaction for his convenienceConsidering the work that was done, the quality of the materials and the construction, as well as the quick turn around time we feel we are owed that amount for the workIt really is unfortunately when quality craftsmanship is unappreciated, especially for this unique structure we build in this caseThis is our first and only complaint in years of quality construction and we are proud of the work we do in Edmonton and the surrounding area, so we would like to resolve this amicably and promptly
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 8, 2016/05/12) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
This job was a complex build, that other contractors had refused to take it on-

- This is also not true - the initial estimate from alan for the deck only before we even talked money was $(I have this in email)
When the deck was completed it was stunning, we cleaned the whole area, the client had nothing to say about the work and was upset that our company did not accept credit cardsUp until this point we had not accepted credit card payment, in our years of operationIn an attempt to accommodate this client's strong request to pay by credit, we went out and purchased the means to facilitate this transactionAs the payment of credit was not discussed at the time of the initial quote, when our research showed that an additional 3% would be tacked on for a major credit card serviceWe let the client know that there would be an additional charge to use credit, but, if the customer chose to pay via, cash, cheque or interact Etransfer the original quote would standAs we have never worked with credit before, our initial response was unaware of the additional 3%To set up for this service is another fee as well, which we were looking into specifically for this customer, as before mentioned, we have never used Credit as a payment option, and many retailers add on the additional percentage tacked on by the credit serviceAn estimate is an estimate only, and it subjected to change when the costs ariseOn our end we received an extra cost for this requested serviceThis 3% will become standard practice for our business and be outlined in all future contracts, and will only apply to credit transactions-
***, we asked Alan specifically when he met us times that he took credit cards and he indicated that he did and that he just started taking them (*** *** *** *** ***), we would not have moved forward without this*** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** As we told Alan both ** and *** prohibit these fee's) My wife and I would both swear to this under oath that regarding Alan indicating he took credit *** *** *** *** ***
Our view of the client's behaviour has been money motivated to reduce costs of the bill in any aspect possibleThis is also not true, we have provided the payment to Alan for the whole amount to get him out of our lives, we just wanted him to apologize for the way he spoke to me, swore and yelled at meI resent the implication that I am trying to get out paying, Alan is trying to justify his action and has never addressed that he is not allowed to charge the fee or even mention my complaints about his behavior
His most recent attempt to reduce the bill was in an email sent me that he would retract his Revdex.com complaint if we would accept his lower offerThe money he is withholding is for a project that is complete and is for future projects pending on these financesIn this case, we went out of our way to work within our client's budget, and had come down again on the price outlined in the final invoice, we also agreed to absorb the 3% credit chargeClient requested additional work on the deck, we accepted his request based on a complimentary extra provided by the company, as a credit to the work we doThe client also asked that we including fence posts which we added on the invoice for $100, which is actually at a loss for usThe additional work was never completed, it was scheduled for the next day, but following the dispute the project came to an abrupt halt when the finances were with-heldThe charges for the posts have been removed from the invoice, the remaining balance is $+gstWe were then at a stand-still for that work day, as we were scheduled to be on his site
- ***, the original quote was approx$3,as per the email he sent me, the final quote was $3, with the posts and at no time was any change or change order indicated

- I have provided the credit card number to alan for payment of the whole bill even though there has been no apology, *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** ***
I would spear under oath to everything I have said here and on all my correspondence and about our meeting as would my wifeYou have the CC number Alan take the payment and never come near me or my property again
