North County's House of Motorcycles Reviews (4)

Review: I visited North County’s House of Motorcycles on Sunday afternoon, August 11, 2013, and was looking at motorcycles. I was told by the financial loan agent I could get a loan if I put down I had a job at UC San Diego where I attend college. I had mentioned I usually get a campus job during the school year, but that I was currently unemployed. The loan agent knew I did not have a job.

It was closing time and the loan and paperwork were hurried through and I was told I was approved for a $10,500.00 loan and could take the suggested motorcycle. The next day I returned the motorcycle and put the keys on the General Manager's desk and told him I was rushed into buying the motorcycle the day before. My girlfriend was with me and witnessed me returning the motorcycle. I called about the loan from the dealership and told them I had returned the motorcycle and I did not have a job and that I had been encouraged by the loan agent at the store to state I had a job on the application. I was told the loan would be cancelled. I received multiple letters stating I was not granted the loan. Then, I starting getting statements from Capital One requesting payment. I followed their directions on the back of the statement for filing a dispute, and I was waiting to hear back (the response may take 90 days).

Last week I received a letter from the loan company, Captial One, stating they repossessed the motorcycle (must be from House of Motorcycles), on November 14, 2013, and they were going to sell it after December 8, 2013 and that I was responsible for the difference of the loan and the price the motorcycle was sold.Desired Settlement: The loan officer knew I did not have a job and the motorcycle was returned the next day. The House of Motorcycles should not be charging me for the motorcycle that has been in their possession since August 12, 2013. They should cancel the loan that was unethical to push through since they knew I did not have a job. At this present time, I am a student at UCSD and do not have a job.

Response:

Mr. [redacted] vehicle was abandoned at our dealership shortly after he purchased it and we have expressed to him that we will have no choice but to notify Capital One of the voluntary repossession as the transaction was completed and he has taken physical delivery of the vehicle the day prior, thus making it a used vehicle when he attempted to cancel the transaction and return it because he changed his mind about the purchase. At the time of the purchase Mr. [redacted] utilized an existing Capital One credit card loan he already had established prior to his visit to NC House of Motorcycles and our dealership did not secure the loan for him for this purchase. This information was relayed to Mr. [redacted] as he attempted to return the vehicle and was also advised of "no cooling off" terms for new vehicle purchase prior and after his purchase. We did however provided him with sell options that he refused to discuss and simply abandoned the vehicle near our property.

Review: I took my bike in to get the carburetor cleaned the motorcycle ran fine, they called me back and said they could not start the bike and I needed a new engine, I spoke with the manager and a girl named [redacted] , I told the manager I just took it in to have the carburetor cleaned, the manager stated that the mechanic said I needed a new engine and I told him that was impossible the bike was running fine just needed carb cleaned . He said ok well since I got the carburetor cleaned it may have effected another function in the engine. They made me pay 206.00 for the cleaning and now my bike does not work. The manager told the mechanic to put the engine back together and when I went to pick up the bike the mechanic left out a o ring from the engine and told me ( this came off) why wouldn't he put it back together ??? So now I have a part from my engine that I cannot put back in and no running bike but just paid them over 200 dollars!! I would like to sue them for the damage to my bike unless they fix it!Desired Settlement: I want them to fix my bike or give me the Kelley blue book value for the bike

Response:

It is disheartening to hear that we were unable to provide the level of service that Mr. [redacted] was expecting and we have taken every measure to review in detail the situation at hand to see whether another course of action would have had more satisfactory result. Although we understand and feel Mr. [redacted]’s disappointment we have found that due to a severe degradation of internal components of his vehicle there isn’t any more that we can do without a major overhaul and our actions did not cause any mechanical malfunction.

The minor repair (carburetor clean up) originally requested by the client unfortunately only highlighted and magnified the true issues related to his 1991 KX250 dirt bike. As a courtesy and per his authorization we have made in depth diagnosis of the internal abnormalities at no charge to him. We had been in contact with Mr. [redacted] though out this process and kept him advised of the found condition and the measures necessary to rectify the problems. Per his request and denial of any further work to be performed we reassembled the motor and kept the already broken parts out of it to prevent any further damage to the vehicle.

We have discussed this already with Mr. [redacted] and would be glad to go over the details again. We have also made an attempt to schedule a time where we could answer any additional questions but Mr. [redacted] failed to meet us at already prearranged time of his convenience and we have not been able to reach him since through multiple phone calls. In addition despite of no fault of our actions we have further agreed to reimburse him $206 for the repairs originally requested and performed, addressing separate minor tune up to the carburetors that were independent to the mechanical issues identified later but have not heard or seen Mr. [redacted] since.

Should you or Mr. [redacted] have any further inquiries we would welcome the opportunity to discuss them and can be available at his convenience.

Respectfully,

General Manager

Review: I could only select one issue under "complaint type" which is unfortunate because at least 3 apply to this situation. Without any frivolous material..basically their employee [redacted] in the finance department is the most rude and condescending person to have ever spoken to me. He harassed me into purchasing a warranty which he made it sound like it was required with the bike, and he constantly pushed me into buying the gps system. I had to wait a day to pick up the bike for a family funeral in which some unexpected expenses came up. I then called [redacted] and told him I could not longer afford the gps system or warranty and he responded by raising his voice in an inappropriate manner saying how I could not refund the gps as it is a physical item. (the bike has not left the lot at this time) He refused to help me out even though I told him I wanted to keep our business going and I would pick up the bike the next day. He made me feel very uncomfortable and we could finish our conversation only after he hung up on me out of frustration and called me back 5 minutes later. So I go in the next day and he greets me by saying "your here to pick it up right" and did not want to help me with any questions I had. He refused to give me a new sales summary with the warranty cost now deducted off the final price and said "it takes 6 months for the warranty to cancel". He then harasses me and keeps questioning "whats an extra 16 dollars a month for the warranty" as if he has the right to question what I will and will not pay for. He scowled at me the entire time and made me feel EXTREMELY uncomfortable about the entire deal. less than 24 hours later....exhaust pipe falls off the bike. I call them and they tell me to call fun bike center for a tow....I complained and they finally got someone out to me 90 minutes later. I told the sales mananger about the whole situation and she said I could come in after the holiday as she would "make things right" yet she was not scheduled to work that day.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund on the entire gps system and the exhaust pipe replaced with the same one on the bike. I was guaranteed a 152 point inspection before pickup but apparently during the PDI they did not check the exhaust bolts/clamp. When it fell off it got all scratched up. I would also like new paperwork including a new sales summary with the new final price. Again I cannot reiterate enough how badly I was treated in this shop as a first time buyer from [redacted]..

Response:

I short we have resolved all issues for Mr. [redacted] and cleared any misunderstandings quite some time ago and well before this was even sent to us. Please remove this compliant as there is no complaint and Mr. [redacted] received everything as per his request upon contacting us so there is absolutely no need for Revdex.com to be involved or keep this in your records.

Thank you,

Review: I purchased a used motorcycle, agreed on a price put down a down payment and finances a small portion of it! I sat down w finance and they wanted to sell me a warranty and LoJack. I declined the additional purchases! The lady helping me had kindly added them to my financed price without advising me or discussing them, I asked her where the extra close to 2 k was coming from and it was warranty and LoJack. I asked for them to be taken off and reprint the papers then I would sign them and my amount financed was suppose to be 3500. I signed them and left w my bike! I reviewed my bill in the mail and it was over 5k! I politely went in and brought it to her attention and she- I guess it was a mistake and she would refund it to my credit account! She said it would take a bit to proc as! I have been back 3 times and asked what was going on ! I have called many times also to try to get to the bottom of the situation. I have not received any credit back for the purchased she purchased for me without my approval! Now after many months I hate to have to bring help in but there was more than enough grace time to take care of my situation am let me be a happy customer! I am to the point that all I want is my account credited for the money I don't authorize on my card and mabe the interest I have been paying on this money ! That's all! Thanks both parties- sorry we had to come to a 3rd party to resolve this but seriously 10 chances is more than enough!Desired Settlement: Money credited and the interest I have paid for purchases I did not make
