We regret that Mr. [redacted]
experienced challenges in resolving his wife’s hospital account.  The
hospital’s financial records indicate that Business Office staff has had
substantial communication at multiple levels of leadership with Mr. [redacted]
regarding his wife’s account balance for...

services received on 10/1/2014.
The Business Office Director personally spoke with Mr. [redacted] at length on two
occasions in attempts to resolve his concerns.
Mr. [redacted]’s insurance provider
was billed and paid the claim.   The patient’s responsibility
(deductible and coinsurance) on the account is $377.98.  Unfortunately,
due to contractual obligations with Mr. [redacted]’s insurance carrier, the
hospital is unable to offer a discount at this time.  However, the
Business Office would like to offer Mr. [redacted] an affordable payment plan that
works with his home budget.  To do so, please contact the Business Office
Customer Service line at (832) 912-3722.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.
From: Christine [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, October 14, 2015 6:13 PM To: drteam Subject: Re: You have a New Message from Revdex.com Regarding Complaint #[redacted] I appreciate the business' willingness to offer a 30% discount but I feel that due to the fact I should never have been admitted to the hospital for "heart concerns".  They did use "scare tactics" with the promise of other additional types of cardiac testing if admitted. Again the testing was not ordered nor done prior to my release. I am willing to consider another offer where both the hospital and I are satisfied with the proposal.  Regards,  [redacted]

Hospital representatives from Guest Relations and the Business Office contacted Mr. [redacted] by phone this afternoon to clarify his concern.Though his lab work was drawn from his physician's office, the specimen was processed at the facility of North Cypress Medical Center (The office of Mr....

[redacted]'s physician, Dr. [redacted], is located in a professional building on the campus of North Cypress Medical Center).  Because the lab work was processed on site, the bill for lab services originated from North Cypress Medical Center - which caused confusion when it was received by Mr. [redacted].  Mr. [redacted] was wary of paying the bill since he was not informed by his physician's staff that the lab work would be sent to NCMC.  Mr. [redacted] also raised issue regarding the cost of the lab tests, which include payment toward his 2015 annual deductible.  The Business Office will send an itemized statement to Mr. [redacted] for the disputed services provided in January, and also for lab services provided in February.  Mr. [redacted] was offered to set up a payment plan that he was comfortable with when he is ready to do so.

Hospital staff contacted Mr. [redacted] today to provide an update:The appeal to the patient's insurance provider is still pending.  We will try back again in two weeks for another update. The Medical Director of Emergency Services reviewed the dispute for the three tests performed at the time of service.  All three tests are standard of care orders, and would be expected to be done for patients presenting to the Emergency Department with abdominal pain.  The laboratory tests for amylase and lipase levels are for epigastric pain, and rule out conditions such as pancreatitis.  Urine pregnancy tests are standard for female patients of childbearing age - even despite a recent pregnancy.Mr. [redacted] was sent reference material provided by the Medical Director detailing emergency medicine practices for patients with abdominal pain.  He was advised that we would follow up again after the next update from his insurance provider regarding his appeal.

For reference, PDF copies of both certified mail and U.S. mail correspondence have been sent to Ms. [redacted] via email.  Again, we regret that the mail was not received.
