North East Relocation Incorporated Reviews (7)

Review: On June 27th we moved from [redacted], NY to [redacted], FL. Being that it is moving season and this year is one of the highest for people relocating south, we thought you might want to expose these scammers. We still do not have our belongings and every time we ask where our stuff is, they say "whenever". We have contacted another reviewer who is willing to tell her story and there are a page full of other reviews on [redacted] with the exact same bait and switch, hold your stuff ransom story. We got quotes from several movers in NY and found that North East Relocation had the most reasonable quote and seemed to be legitimately decent and professional. We were quoted $2,044.35 This was the final quote after going back and forth at least 3 times, making sure we had all items listed that we intended to move. As of today July 4th, we know that it will be at least Monday before the check clears and they agree to ship my belongings from NY, and who knows how long it will be in transport. When we left on June 27th, we were quoted "between 3 and 5 days", we are currently at day 8 with no light at the end of the tunnel. My husband is recovering from two major back surgeries and has been forced to sleep on an air bed as we still do not have our furniture, clothes and other life's belongings. My kids and I are staying at my friend's house in the [redacted] area. I will begin at the beginning of how this nightmare began. The movers arrived at 5pm on Thursday June 26th. The foreman came in with a bunch of paperwork that required signatures. He explained all the policies very quickly (in broken English). Everything sounded reasonable to us due to the fact that there was nothing extra going on to the truck other than maybe a few boxes, however there was going to be less furniture that we had originally told them. We also walked this guy from the basement to the third floor showing him what was going and what was not. He made no indication that we would be over. My first upset was the amount of tape these guys THOUGHT they were going to use at $5 a roll. They were using almost a roll unnecessarily to wrap blankets around two chairs. Doing the math real quick, at $5 per set of chairs, we were looking at $100's in tape alone. I quickly put a stop to that. When the truck was approx. 2/3 full the foreman came in and said that we were at 4 lines. Not understanding, as this had not been explained to me, I asked what this meant and he told me that we were over quote and it would now cost $4000. At this point we still had two bedroom sets upstairs. I asked how this could be possible as we had not added any furniture. He went on to tell me that the company does this all the time. I asked him to call his manager who proceeded to tell me that she would drop the cost from $2.87 to $2.77 per cubic sq foot (a whopping $100 saving per 1000sq ft), and to call back the next day. So they continued to put stuff on but getting very nervous we decided that we should leave some things behind. The movers finished up at about 8.30pm.I called the company back the next day just as I was told to do. They told me that the shipping manager would call me back right away, no return call. I called again, same thing..This went on through the weekend - 3 days with no response. Finally on Monday I got through to the shipping manager who after much deliberation, told me that they would take off $400 for shipping materials, not sure how we used $400 in shipping material, I purchased and packed the boxes myself. At their suggestion, we used two of their TV boxes and maybe 8 of their regular sized ($1.35 at [redacted]) boxes - no where even close to $400 worth. Then she told me that they required another $1,300 before the furniture would be loaded. We had not been told this, we were told that the balance would be paid upon delivery. At this point, our stuff is being held ransom until the extra $$ is paid. I told her I did not have it as we had budgeted $2,500 for movers based on their quote. She then became extremely nasty and unprofessional saying that the furniture would not be loaded until they received the payment. Again I told her that the estimate was for $2,044.35 (as you can see from the attached quote) and they cannot double it and expect that people have this kind of money sitting around. She told me that I needed to make the payment of $1,300, by check, by phone before she could do anything else. They would not accept my debit/credit card as payment at this point (which I had used for the first deposit), saying that it had to be signed. This was at 4pm on Monday afternoon after trying to get this sorted all day. She said that maybe I should go talk to my family and call her back. Frustrated, I hung up the phone. Feeling that we had no choice my husband and I called back to make the payment on our bank debit card only to be told that we cannot use a debit/credit card because we could not sign it. This made no sense as I had made the deposit with my credit card and signed for that with the bunch of papers the foreman had given me. Again the shipping manger became nasty and hung up on us. She told me that she was trying to make this easy for me. Feeling overwhelmed and upset we (wearily) gave her our bank account number and routing number to debit the money. Before hanging up the phone I asked for an estimated delivery time and was told that whenever the next truck left for Florida our stuff would be on it but that I also needed to pay another $986 upon arrival. It is now Friday July 4th, they have been "processing the payment" since Monday and will not call us back. As far as we know, our stuff is still on a truck somewhere in NY with no delivery date in sight. We are not alone in this nightmare, we have made contact with a lady who moved from NY to Mass on June 30th. She too wants these people exposed and is willing to tell her story. There are currently 5 negative reviewDesired Settlement: I would like to have a date when my furniture will be delivered and have to pay no more than the cost quoted on my estimate.

Review: I used this company to move my things from NY to Florida. I was told 3-5 days for delivery, it took 3 weeks. I was charged double the original quote. My boxes were crushed & opened, and a lot of my things were stolen. The staff was unprofessional & uncompassionate. I was given the wrong information when I spoke to [redacted] who handles the claims at this company. When I called & spoke to someone else, they gave me the company's info to file the complaint. I contacted them, they emailed me the forms, but before I could send it back to them, I received an email stating the moving company had suspended their account with them so basically I can't take any further action until they remove the suspension. I contacted [redacted] with the complaint, pictures, as well as receipts and was never contacted by her or anyone from the company. I also read reviews of this company & other people stated the same exact thing happened to them & there are lawyers involved. This company is a scam. They rip people off, steal their belongings, and think they can get away with it. I will get a lawyer involved if I have to. Not only were my items stolen, but my children's items as well.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of the items that were stolen, the cost of the items I had to replace, as well as the amount I was overcharged for the cost of the move. The items stolen was a 40" flat screen TV, baby bassinet, infant car seat, brand new high chair still in the box, kitchen table, baby items, electric heater, shoes, hanging pictures, tablet, and an infant activity gym. I also paid for a storage unit that was unused for 3 weeks.

Review: I've had the WORST EXPERIENCE WITH NORTH EAST RELOCATION INC. The customer service is terrible. As I was going through this whole ordeal with this moving company, I began to study up on the proper procedures with moving someone items. Sure enough, they've VIOLATED NUMEROUS CODES FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION. They did not come to my apartment and survey what needs to be moved in order to gave a accurate quote. So the quote my wife and I got was so low-it was too good to be true. When the movers got to the house, they ask for more money. I was like "this is what I have, sorry". There was no way I was going to give them more money. A week pasted, and they said that they won't move our items off the truck until they receive more money, because they loaded more items on the truck then expected. Okay cool. More pieces than what was quote. We paid an extra $2000 dollars but then the item ITEMS SAT ON THE MOVING TRUCK FOR 2 WEEKS! AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! So mad! The only way I found out was from one of the girls working there. One person I talked to said that the items where on the truck ready to come to our destination. Then I called back a week later, because I hadn't hear nothing from this North East Relocation company. I called to double check to see if the items were on its way, but they said that they made mistake and the items didn't get on truck to my destination. NO COMMUNICATION! WHY DID THEY LIE TO ME at first? Don't they have this information on computer?! When I got the number to the truck driver, every time I called the driver I got his voicemail, and it said that the voicemail is not set-up. FALSE NUMBER TO TRUCK DRIVER with our stuff!! My wife and I tried to get the right number numerous times from various managers like [redacted], [redacted], [redacted], and [redacted]. They were talking to my wife and I like we were children...THEY SAID THAT WE WERE ANNOYING THEM and not letting them do their job. The whole experience has been the WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE I've ever been associated with. It seemed like it was something out a movie. It was so bad! We slept on a air mattress for almost 2-months. I AM LUCKY THAT MY WIFE AND I DON'T HAVE KIDS YET. IT WOULD HAD BEEN AN AWFUL EXPERIENCE FOR THEM. It took 5 and half weeks to get our stuff. PLEASE DO NOT USE NORTH EAST RELOCATION INC MOVING COMPANY. The worst company in America. Hands down!Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of $4000 dollars

Review: Hired this company to move my stuff, After moving various boxes are missing, family jewels are missing, They have in there possession for over 3 weeks and have not sent them to me yet, I have been promised over and over that I would receive my things and they will not deliver them, Emails available and last recorded conversation yesterday, they promised I would have my items yesterday 9/10/14 by or after 6pm, they were never delivered, Farah Adams lady in charge of my case at North east relocation has become nasty and rude, cannot contact her after numerous emails. They are holding thousands of dollars of valuable items, have also damaged thousands and will not send me a claim form.Desired Settlement: I would like my things returned to me at no cost I Paid them $9,000.00, a claim form so that I can claim damages on the expensive items they broke on delivery.

Review: I chose this Company as they gave me the cheaper quote out of all others. I have a double bed room apartment with normal amenities. Movers showed up 2 hours late. Initial Quote is just a big comedy and they asked me 350 dollars more than what was quoted. I was ok with that. I opted for a 1 month free storage and when I called them for delivery , no one responded me for the first 3 days. I finally got a call that my storage was scheduled for delivery but again they call ed me the day before delivery that the truck had some problem and the delivery has to be rescheduled. Finally when my delivery came after 3 weeks of my original request , My 47 inch tv was missing. I asked the driver to call the company as no one answered my call. Driver has no idea whom to call. Finally after 3 hours of trying , He got in touch with a lady named [redacted] and she promised me that the TV will be searched and I will get a response in 2 days. I called them everyday and I cant even get a hold of her. after 1 week, she sent me an email that the TV is still missing and I have to claim it with insurance.

Insurance is Paying me 30 bucks for a 1000$ TV. There is no responsibility/attempt made from the Movers to even search my TVDesired Settlement: I at least the reimbursement to be little higher or at least make the company pay for part of it. Its an expensive TV and I cannot take 30 as a reimbursement

This is the letter that I sent with photos to the claims company: [redacted], FL [redacted]

October 16, 2013

Dear Claims Adjuster,

This letter comes to you as required for the formal claim process. Prior to my move I spoke with a representative who called herself “[redacted]” at North East Relocation. She represented to me that the my property would be loaded on the North East Relocation truck in New Jersey on 8/22 and stay on that truck until it was off-loaded in Virginia on the 8/24. She and I discussed the fact that North East Relocation only has one truck of its own, and she said that that was the truck that would be doing the job. [redacted] assured me that my property would not be off-loaded or transferred to another truck. This was something that I was concerned about as I have heard that property has an increased risk of damage when off/on-loading. When the movers arrived on 8/22 they were not in the North East Relocation truck. I called the firm and spoke with [redacted] who said there was a problem with the company truck, and assured me that my materials would not be transferred to another truck.

The movers who picked up my property were very unprofessional. They did not have shirts that identified the company for whom they worked; they left trash all over the house. They hit my stone retaining wall with their truck which requires professional repair. They scraped the walls and chipped plaster as they moved my things, even left a hole in the wall of one of the bedrooms. They scratched the floors so badly they need to be refinished before we can list the house for sale. They have also scratched and broken the front door. Furthermore, they damaged the gas line as they went to move the washer and dryer out of the basement. Aside from the damage there was regular harassment every half hour or so that the job would cost more money, and increased the rate to literally more than double the original quote. A new contract was drawn and I signed it under duress. To make matters worse, after all of this damage and harassment, at the end the job the lead asked for a tip.

On 8/23 I received confirmation of delivery time during the agreed upon window (9am-noon 8/24). On the morning of 8/24 I picked up the required money orders, and checked with my bank to make sure that my check $2432.00 had cleared. It had. At about 11:30am I received a phone call from [redacted] at North East Relocation advising me that my check hadn’t cleared and my things could still be delivered if I paid the $2432.00 again in cash to the driver. I argued that it had cleared; conferenced in my banker who advised the representative from the company that it had cleared (threw several accounts no less, before reaching destination). To make a long story short, I and ended up having to involve my attorney on a Saturday to speak to the North East Relocation on my behalf before it was agreed that my things would be delivered as contracted. My things then arrived on an [redacted] rental truck at about 7pm. I was told by the lead Sammy that my property had been brought from my house on 8/22 to a warehouse and stored for a day before being reloaded onto a truck that had supposedly had difficulties before this [redacted] truck had been secured. I had to pay and sign for the delivery of my property before anything would be off-loaded; I could not check, or count anything. As you can see on the bill of lading, I signed under protest.

This truck was much smaller than the one in New Jersey. When the doors of the truck were opened I was very concerned. I noticed that the original moving crew did not wrap all of my furniture, in fact they only wrapped a few items and did not completely cover those items so they were damaged too. They didn’t even wrap the wood with paper or plastic to protect it from scratching during the inevitable shifts of a 350ml drive. Not to mention multiple truck transfers. Then it looked like just about every box marked “fragile” was crushed. There were a lot of crushed boxes in general. Worse yet, I had a green bag that I meant to carry with me, but ended up on the truck. In it was my table silver and a couple of bracelets, along with passports and some sensitive documents. The bag was open; the table silver was gone, as were the bracelets. The documents and passports were there, but I have had to take measures to secure my identity. I am also missing a ladder my father had just given me, as well as 23 boxes.

The team that off-loaded my things was very professional, but the damage to my things was done. The damage is as follows:

Footlocker – broken & scratched

Wing Table – scratched

Hutch / China Cupboard – broken & scratched

Boat Book Shelf – Broken & Scratched

Hole – In wall of room

Gas line – torn away from wall.

At the present time, nearly all of my furniture needs to be replaced due to the damaged caused by North East Relocation movers. Clearly you can see by the pictures of the off-loading that most items were not wrapped, and those that were had not been properly wrapped. I do not believe that this damage would have happened if your movers had properly wrapped my goods as they are contracted to do in your original agreement. I also do not believe that the damage would have been so extreme if it had not been taken off the original truck as was initially agreed. Since they did not properly abide by the contract I believe that nullifies the terms of sixty cents per pound liability agreement.

The cost to replace the damaged furniture and dryer alone exceeds the $4500 spent on the move. Then there is the damage that was done to my property in New Jersey which I expect could cost another $8000 to repair, and my silver place settings will be $2400-$3600 to replace depending on market value. My ladder would be useful in a new location, and then there is my son’s wardrobe that remains missing as it was part of what was contained in the missing boxes, as was my stereo. I could actually go on for a while on the missing items, please advise if you would like for me to do so.

I am very upset about the way my property was treated, but would like to suggest that we try to come to settlement terms amicably. Please review the claims analysis charts and photos that I have sent over the past several days, and let me know what you feel a fair settlement offer would be. I believe that when you examine the list and photos you will find that the damage was extensive and just shocking. If the forms are not done to your liking, or if you need any further information please let me know via e-mail 2[redacted].

Very truly yours,

In December the adjusting firm made a decision on my claime and advised the moving company of settlement recommendations, however the moving company did not act. In the months that followed twice the moving companies contract was canceled with the adjusting firm which did not effect my claim any as no action was ever taken on it.

On April 8, 2014 I received settlement offer of $229.00 that did not include multiple items on my inventory list, and reported that I had packed my own furniture which is ridiculous. The company contract stated all furniture would be wrapped by movers how then would I do this myself. When I contacted adjusting company to inquire how to file appeal I was told that I could not. I was also told that they were not informed of the other items on my inventory list by the moving company so they were not included in the claim, and would not be reconsidered. I was told / pressured to sign the agreement and send it back in, however the fine print on the clause has a stipulation regarding the contact of any public reporting agency that I don't quite understand as I don't think that is legal. No one from the company is returning my calls to discuss, but I have been informed that my claim will be closed on May 8th if I don't accept the offer of $229.00.Desired Settlement: I had initially hoped to work this out with the company directly, that they and the adjusting firm would honor their policy and come to a fair settlement figure. Clearly $229.00 is not fair.

I would now like for their name and unethical practices cited on your registry to protect others, and for what I paid to them be returned to me for my troubles.

Review: I moved on Aug 29 ,2013 using this company. Movers was 5 hours late. I got the quote over the phone.. As soon as the movers came they tryed to up the price, So I had to leave most of my furnturine. So while they was packing the truck they left alot of space to use more room I had to go up on the truck and re arrange the boxes so I wouldn't get cheated. Final it went down and the movers left after 3 long hours of back and forth .. I was told my stuff will be in storage for a month cause that came with the contract , Never was told where is the storage location. Thought it was in the city that I was moving too. When the day came when I found a storage in [redacted] , I called and ask for my stuff to be drop off . I was told I would get a call back in 24 hours , to let me know when the load will be drop off. I only had owe 150 more to the movers, Never got an call, So I called back, Thats when I was told that a truck is on the way to [redacted] , But not sure if my stuff was on the truck .. So I went out to eat then not even 45 mins later a guy called stating he was with north eastern relocation That he was only 45 mins away .. So I left dinner and went to [redacted] storage . I wiated over 2 hours for them . They began to unpack I noticed My 32 flat toshiba screen was missing.. After weeks of calling and talking with a female name [redacted] and the rude customer services rep. I just got an claims number to call and got to started all over.
