I have reviewed the comments and disagree with several of
the statements, or their interpretation, that were made.
During the pre-procedure consultation the office
informed me that my cost would just be my copay, not that is what the insurance
company said. If there was any question on what my cost would be it should have
been brought up at that time. Even a response of “I don’t know” would have been
very valuable as there would be no expectation that my cost would just be my
copay. I don’t recall ever receiving a response of “I don’t know” from a doctor’s
office before or know how an office like that could stay in business but at
least we wouldn’t be in this situation.I was waiting in a chair for quite some time
and, as I recall, received several apologies for the delay as they were waiting
on something or the other. Several minutes before the start of the procedure a
piece of thin wrapped gauze like substance, covered in medicine to appearingly
open the sinuses, was set into each nostril. The doctor later came in and removed
the substance from each nostril and went up one nostril with his instrument and
came out almost immediately and did the same with the other nostril. I thought
I was being gracious with my 5 minute estimate. I went back and looked at my
bill and noticed there is a separate line for United Healthcare Payment and
United Healthcare Adjustment even though the numbers are in the same column. It
appears that I was mistaken on the amount paid by my insurance company.It is questionable that the office provided
services in good faith and acted professionally. I might have appeared satisfied
at my last visit, but that wasn’t the result of the procedure. Also, I thought
I was completely done with that office at that time.
