North Jersey Federal Credit Union Reviews (3)

Review: I signed up for the bank account when it was totally free checking and they now decided to raise it to $3 or $100 minimum balance. That is not what I agreed to when I signed up for the bank account so I went to close the account. They went ahead and charged me a cancellation fee of $25 which I was never notified of and never agreed to. Had I know there would be a $25 fee to close the account I would have never signed up.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of $25 for the cancellation fees which were never stated and I never agreed to.

Response:

To whom this concerns. We comply with all state and federal laws on disclosing our fees. Evrey member is given a fee schedule when they join the credit union. The $25 account closure fee is openingly disclosed on the fee disclosure. We did add a $100 minuim requirement in order to maintian Free Checking. If the monthly balance falls below $100 then we charge a $3 fee. This new $3 fee was disclosed to our members 60 days prior to the fee implementation. We are sorry this peson was unhappy with the fee but there are costs associated with maintaning a checking account and if a members doesn't have $100 in the account, the credit union's other members are subsidizing the account.

Review: I currently have a car loan with the North Jersey Federal Credit Union. My car has been unregistered since 8/30/15 one week before the registration expired I contacted the financial department and spoke to Rosemary in regard to the registration. She informed me she was going to send me the title of the vehicle via mail. I waited for 2 weeks and did not receive the title, I called Rosemary again at which time she informed me she had sent the letter to the incorrect address. Being that the car is unregistered I haven't been using it so I can avoid getting a ticket. Unfortunately I had no choice but to park the car and not use it. About 1 week ago I received 3 tickets for having an unregistered vehicle parked in front of my home on the street because I dont have a garage nor a driveway. The following day I called the NJFCU and demanded to receive the documents I needed to register my car. I had to pay for a duplicate title out of pocket and register my car on my own. During the registration process I was informed I had to pay a total amount of $856.60. No one in the credit union ever informed me would have to pay taxes at the DMV so I was not prepared with this amount of money. I contacted the credit union with my complaint which was yesterday 9/30/15 and as of yet no one has contacted me with any further information. I have left messages for the manager Reginald B[redacted] and I've also tried calling the manager in the main office in Totowa and they keep telling me he is in a training and they do not know when he will be returning. I don't feel as though I should be held responsible for these tickets because it was a result of the negligence of the NJFCU also I should be rembursed for the money I had to pay for the month of September because I was unable to use the car.Desired Settlement: I would like for the NJFCU to reimburse me for my payment for the month of September as I was unable to use my car and I don't feel as I should pay for something I was unable to use due to their negligence. I would also like them to pay the 3 tickets I received, reimburse me for the fee for paying for a duplicate title. I would also need them to write a letter to both my insurance company and the NJ DMV stating it was not my fault I received these tickets and I want this ticket to be taken off of my license because before this I had not gotten any tickets under my name. I would appreciate it if none of this reflects negatively on my credit report.

Review: On nov 2015 I open an account a $10 checking and a $50 savings and on december 18 2015 I deposited $200 cash on their atm machine which it indicates that cash deposit will not be available till 3 business days...on the 19th of december I issue 2 checks for passport fee which is $80 each and it didnt clear till the 24th of december then on the 28th of december I got 2 $35 fee for insuficient fund for those checks I dont get why would I be charge for $70 when I do have enough money on my account when the check was cleared...call them and they say because I am a new client it supposed to be 6 business days to get my deposit clear is that right?and theres no way I can get my hard earned money back.Desired Settlement: I just want my money back.I feel like I just got rob.im not gonna issue a check if I know I dont have enough money and besides it is a payment for a passport a goverment business so I made sure I put enough funds to cover the checks.
