North Penn Water Authority Reviews (2)

Review: I have had repeated issues with the same problem. Initially started in 2013 when I received a bill in excess of $500 for almost 100,000 gallons of water usage. I am a single guy in a single family home with no roommates or other people living with me. I called them disputing the bill so they stated my line had a leak and I needed to pay for a 3rd party to come and repair/replace the water line to my house. I had three of North Penn Water Authority technicians come to my location, first one arrived when I was not there so he only looked at the meter, the second one I met on site and killed the valve inside the house and saw the meter still running. I asked him at that point if there could be an issue with the meter and not the line since my yard is perfectly dry with no wet/soggy spots. He said absolutely not and it had to be the line from the pit to the house. I then contacted the 3rd party of my choosing to dig up my yard and run a new line from the pit to the house. Before they started their work they asked North Penn Water Authority (NPWA) to send another tech out to be sure it wasn't an issue with the line since they also did not notice any indications on the surface of a leaking line issue. The third tech came out and met with my 3rd party contractor and also said it was an issue with the line. So on those directions they dug a trench and placed a new line into the house. During the process of them digging into my yard there were no wet spots or soft spots indicating water leaks still. Once the work was complete and brand new line ran the meter was checked again and it was found to still be spinning. At this point NPWA sent another technician out on 3/15/13 to replace their angle valve, meter gaskets, and a 5/8" meter yoke. After those replacements were done the meter was functioning properly. I have called in numerous times looking for a refund as there are no indications the line needed to be replaced in the first place and the issue could have been resolved initially by the NPWA technicians doing more than just looking into the pit and seeing the meter spin if they would have taken the time to actually look the their valves, gaskets, and yokes. I received another bill from them recently for around 50,000 gallons of water usage and about $300. When I called them about this they said it was an error on their part and it would be fixed. I then received a past due notice for the bill so I called again today and the lady told me it's because we couldn't read your meter in April manually due to snow so we went off of previous years usage to come up with that number. I explained to her the issue that happened last year to which she informed me there is nothing that can be done to stop this from happening every year to me if they can not read the meter. It will keep using last years usage even though when my meter is actually read I use approximately $20-$30 of billable usage. I should not have to call every year just to say your automated reading is wrong send a tech out here to check the pit. Couple all of those issue with horrible customer services I have received from the agents being extremely rude on the phone and interrupting me numerous times mid sentence to the point where I have to say "Will you let me finish?" I have talked to numerous employees with that company since the issue started in 1/28/13 including [redacted], and some others I don't have the names for like the techs that came to my location.Desired Settlement: Full refund of all the work done on my property to dig and place a new water line, relocate the feed into the house with new valves and piping to meet the old connection point and follow up construction costs to level out the mound of dirt even with the rest of the yard due to the line replacement.

Review: This company never sends me my bills. The only time I get my bills is when they threaten to turn off my services. I called to complain about this issue but their customer services department states it's my fault I should know when my bill is due but to that I say how do I know what to pay if I don't have a bill. I am never late on any of my bills but this company still never sends me a bill. I sent in a voided check with their automatic withdraw form 2 1/2 months ago and that is not going through!!! If this issue does not get resolved I am going to write to my local congressman to see if there are finds or sanctions that can be put on this company. This is the problem when you have a water company monopoleyDesired Settlement: This issue needs to be resolved in which I get my bill every month
