I received a copy of your
letter including the customer complaint and quite honestly, I'm surprised at
his level of expectation
"">Mr[redacted] made the initial
inquiry over the phone on this particular unit, after seeing it on our website
presumably. After answering his initial
questions, we disclosed the fact that this unit was not in perfect
condition. After discussing the unit
further with his salesperson, [redacted] made an offer of $20,000. My salesman presented the offer to his
manager and we accepted
Mr[redacted] drove over to our
dealership presumably to inspect the unit and to complete the paperwork. Upon his arrival, he went through the unit
and decided that he wanted to negotiate some more and stated that he was only willing
to pay $18,based on the condition.
We accepted that offer on an as it basis. There is no remaining factory warranty and no
implied dealer warranty on this unit.
We did do a courtesy gas
safety check, checked the operation of the appliances and replaced a skylight
before he took delivery. As an
additional courtesy, and by no means a condition of sale, we agreed to make an
attempt to caulk the leak area he is now concerned about, which we did, but
made no promises,
Ultimately, Mr[redacted] purchased a RLTS All-American Sport 5th Wheel from us for
18,500. It has a current NADA book value
of 27,230. This fact can be easily
verified on the NADA website
We all knew going in it was
not a perfect unit and it was in no way represented as such. It was going to require some maintenance
which is why it was sold for almost $under NADA book. If it needs a few dollars worth of repairs,
that is what the additional, final $discount was intended for.
If we were to send a couple
tubes of caulk to Mr[redacted] and that would make this better, I would be
willing to do that
We have been in the RV
business for over years and one of the biggest challenges is to manage
expectations. I am disappointed that we
were not able to do that in this case, but I do not believe we have any further
liability in this matter
Sincerely,

The day I looked at the camper we settled on the price of $18,500.00 with the agreement that the roof would be fixed. Had I not paid for the camper prior to picking it up I would have rejected it in the condition the roof was still in. I will not settle for anything less then what was agreed upon at the time of the deal which was a repaired roof. I would be willing to repair the roof myself if North Point would supply the necessary items need to completely repair the roof  such as EPDM liquid roofing for the 320 square foot of the roof, also caulk for around all the vents and the wood needed for the repairs. This would save them labor costs and the reimbursement of my fuel to take the camper back to their shop in Chippewa Falls.

The fact is we agreed upon the 18500.00 the day of the sale not the next day. I made it very clear to the salesman ([redacted]) that the repair of the roof was part of the condition of the sale. Also when I first called about the camper [redacted] told me that it was in good condition for being a 2006 and everything worked in the camper. I am really concerned about the health issues that could be associated with mold in the ceiling of the camper so I will not settle for anything less then what we agreed upon at the time of the signing of the sale. If the Revdex.com can't help me get this resolved then I will have no other choice then to take legal action to resolve this mater.

As for the purpose of your email, I guess we and the buyer disagree on the condition of sale.As previously stated, we agreed on a price of 20,000 over the phone.  We disclosed very clearly that this unit was not flawless which is why it was being sold for 20k and not the book value of 27k.The buyer came to the dealership to look at the unit he was concerned about one area on the roof of the camper and withdrew his first offer and made a 2nd offer of $1500 less because of what he saw.We accepted that offer and a deal was made.  I'm not sure why he believes the deal was to include a complete roof overhaul (which is not needed) and the unit was still to be sold at the further reduced price also.
The phrase "cake and eat it too" comes to mind.If he chooses to have any further work done on his roof, it can come out of the $1500 discount he negotiated for that very purpose.  As previously stated, and inspite of further aggravation, I will still offer to send him acouple tubes of rubber based caulk that he can apply.  Beyond that, we have no further obligation in this matter.I am truly sad that we have a disappointed customer but the vast majority of our thousands of customers have reasonable expectations and are very satisfied.Sincerely
