My wife and I were actively converting our family room into our master bedroom to make additional room for foster children I had already removed the wainscoting in the room, patched the holes, and smoothed the corners and defects The walls needed to be skim coated to repair where the wainscoting was and after getting into it myself I realized it was not something I had the skill or time to finish I had called a number of contractors and either never received a call back or they were scheduled out for a few months I was only able to obtain one quote and without anything to compare it to, it seemed very high I left a message for Jude on a Friday (7/15/16) and she called back within minutes She asked if I would be available Saturday morning and said she could give me a quote in the morning and if I agreed to the price she could do the work right away and I'd be able to paint on Sunday That was just what I was looking for She arrived as stated at 8am on Saturday and went over options with me I initially thought we would have to skim coat the wall from floor to ceiling (as told by previous quoted contractor) but she assured me that she could just skim the wainscoting area and match and blend the texture on the wall and we wouldn't be able to tell The quote was $which was incredibly reasonable I had her start right away She did a wonderful job! The texture matched perfectly and when you look down the wall can't tell there was ever any wainscoting there My family and I had to leave in the afternoon and we had no qualms about letting her finish her work without us there She left through the garage when she was finished, closed the door behind her, and let me know if I had any concerns she would be more than happy to come back and fix them up She was incredibly personable and was gracious enough to entertain my two young children who were fascinated to sit and watch her work I have, and would recommend Jude and Feather Drywall to anyone who needs to have drywall work done I just can't say enough good things about her promptness, quality of work, and geniality

The District Attorney did forward Ms***'s cashier's check, and we received it on 5/12/15, exactly months after we made the deposit (for work that was never done). If by chance the vendor from whom we had received a time-limited $coupon for work that will need to be done when the plaster repair is complete decides to honor the coupon, we will refund the extra $50. The additional extra $included in the refund check is approximately equivalent to months interest at credit card rates on what amounted to an involuntary loan, plus postage expenses (certified mail) incurred through working with the district attorney to obtain the refund.
Thus in reference to complaint ID ***, we find that this resolution satisfactory.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]
We have not received a return of the deposit or any other additional amounts.  Nor has Ms. [redacted] responded to our 2nd, 3rd, or 4th phone calls wherein we left messages that the deposit re-imbursement has not been received.  After the first phone call she did respond and say she would bring us another check if none had arrived in the mail the following day, but this has not happened.  If she has sent a check, we suggest that she check with her bank to assure herself that it has not been cashed, put a stop payment on it, and issue us another check post-haste.  If the bank says the check has cleared, she and the bank need to alert authorities that a forgery has been committed, but then either she still needs to re-imburse our $525.  We are not asking for re-imbursement for the $50 coupon.
To clarify, at the time the deposit was made on 3/12/15 we did inform Ms. [redacted] that the room was being treated for bedbugs, and asked if she was still willing to take the job, to which she responded that it was no problem at all.  It was not until her e-mail of 3/28/15, in which she did thank us for having told her about the bedbugs, that she mentioned any change of heart, which was just 3 days before the work was to begin.  Although the risk that she or any of her crew would inadvertently pick-up one of these  secretive nocturnal insects, which do not transmit any diseases to human beings, during daytime work is pretty low, especially were they careful to store any unused equipment in a space we would have provided elsewhere for that purpose, and although doubtless they have unknowingly worked in other bedbug infested areas in the past, we understand that many people could have difficulty overcoming their squeamishness at the prospect.  We would have been much less perturbed about her changing her mind about working for us if she had informed us within a day or two, rather than two weeks later.
