> In response to the complaint. The customer had received an insurance check for the amount of 11,217.44 In the check was to take out or repair kitchen cabinets. The customer had a by inch hole in the ceiling as well as some signs of moisture.
We called in a plumber, repaired leak, removed all the insulation as well as the old plaster that was wet in the ceiling and the adjacent bathroom. The repair as well as the plaster and blue board was 5900.00. The customer then wanted to replace the damaged cabinets but with a new kitchenFor the existing kitchen, the total cost was and we were going to keep the granite. There was no guarantees on the granite because I can not be responsible for it. They signed a waiver. We had granite company come in and remove it and one piece cracked. They re fabricated according to the customers specs new granite charging the customer 2300. When we took out the entire kitchen there was water damage on the back wall due to a leak. We had to remove again all plaster, insulation and have a company spray for moldAs well as remove wiring because boxes were all rusted. Cost was for electrical, to remediate the walls We installed new cabinets then customer wanted to add a row of cabinets on the top. We added the row of cabinets which was a dollar upgrade. We received deposit from the customer via credit card and then a dollar check from *** *** who was the customers husband. He stated he had no more money from insurance company. He still owned us 8950.00. We called insurance company to fight for a supplemental on the claim but because customer was not doing it themselves then we got no where. Do Mr *** owes us 8950. He never paid granite company which I paid and we have filed paper work for a Lien.>> Thank you> *** ***

I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # [redacted].There was never a signed waiver regarding any liability for breaking the granite. He acknowledged he was stuck paying for the granite.  He sent only two workers to remove the granite and they could not carry it properly to avoid stressing the sink portion. He never told us at the start of the project it would drag on for four months because nearly all of his workers were moonlighting with full time jobs. They could only show up in the late afternoon. His estimates of the cost and what is owed him is a work of fiction. There are three cabinet doors that are flawed that he promised to replace and was always telling us it was on order. We are still waiting for them. He just stopped coming and returning calls. He stated at the outset of the project that he had experience in insurance and would handle the insurance negotiations and not to worry as my liability would be no more than the settlement check. My lack of cooperation was never a factor.

Please be advised that we have tried to address Mr. [redacted]'s complaint. There is still a balance of over $6,095.00 on the kitchen and we have filed a small claims hearing. The doors are not defective, they are a real wood (maple) door and have been stained with an Antique white finish. The finish,...

stain and door were picked out by Mrs. [redacted]. There was an insurance claim and we addressed all of the issues in the insurance claim, in addition we found some excessive mold behind the kitchen due to a leak in the water line that was never addressed. We fixed the leak, had two areas of mold removed and 82.75 square feet of ceiling in the kitchen as well as 340.31 square feet of wall behind the kitchen cabinets. We removed all of the the back splash tile from the 1970 era and also moved the air conditioning vent, patched the hole and added an additional row of uppers that were never there. We replaced the entire kitchen and the granite was not our responsibility but the people that they had move it cracked it. They asked me if I could have someone replace it and I did under the tuition that it is an extra and the cost was $2200.00 which is exactly the amount the granite company charged him and was never paid. I paid it because they install all my granite for me. The total cost for the entire job including, fixing the leaks, removing all the bad walls, insulating and plastering all new walls, painting, removing old cabinets, installing new ones, replacing all the wanes coating, putting brand new granite , new knobs, crown molding and fixing there vents that were never tied in was $14,595.00. That was the cost of the job, no profit. The [redacted]'s paid me $8,500.00. I over heard the wife tell one of the workers that they do not have the money and spent it on other accessories. Plaster $2500.00Electrical $1000.00Plumbing $695.00Kitchen Cabinets $6200.00Installation $2000.00If you need any other information, please let me know.
