North Texas Llamas Reviews (%countItem)

North Texas Llamas of Campbell, Texas, sold us an underweight llama that was already dying. It's only been a week and vet says there's no hope. The seller gave no indication that the animal might be ill at the time of purchase, but wormed him while we were there, and indicated he should be fine. We are first-time llama owners and are out $500 for an animal. Today, we were told it was already slowly dying when we bought it, per local experienced llama vet near us. We called seller every day for advice on the animal, and how to solve the problems it was having. He just kept saying that the llama just 'had to get used to its new home? and told us to give it some alfalfa hay.

We are well experienced with goats, sheep, more, but this was our first llama. The vet says the llama was already sick and dying before we took him home, that it had probably already been too stressed by rampant parasites to recover, even before we arranged to purchase it. Shouldn't an experienced llama breeder be able to recognize that?

We did everything we were supposed to, but the llama is in it's death throes today. So sad! We called seller today and he didn't even apologize, just basically said, "Our problem," over the phone and didn't want to talk beyond a few sentences, though we were polite and asked what could be done. He will do nothing to make it good, not even partial credit toward another llama. I cannot recommend this breeder and feel he is not to be trusted. Perhaps he felt safe selling me a dying animal to because I live hours away and probably wouldn't bring a dead llama back to his farm'

Seller would not give any physical address information to me. Seller said he lives in Campbell, Texas. Bill of sale lists mailing address of P.O. Box 9083, Greenville TX, 75404. Sale was made on County Rd. 4119, Campbell TX, 75422, shown in the Google maps satellite image here: https://www.google.com/maps/@33.1556901,-95.9070099,175m/data=!3m1!1e3 but seller days he does not live there.
Product_Or_Service: live llama

Desired Outcome

Refund I would like a full refund. I would have previously accepted applying the funds I spent for a dying llama toward a healthy one, but I've decided to adopt a different species of animal instead. I do not feel the seller can be trusted to provide a healthy animal.

North Texas Llamas Response • Feb 20, 2020

Mr *** made an appointment to come out to our farm to look at llamas we had for sale. We don't live on the farm and the farm has no address. To avoid customers having to follow complicated directions we just meet them 4 miles away at a volunteer fire station and they follow us to the farm.

Two groups of llamas were separated into two small pens to allow him to get an up close look at them. I showed him a group of fat llamas priced at $850 each and the other group priced at $500 each. I volunteered before he even asked that the $500 ones were in a thinner body condition. Mr *** showed little interest in the more expensive llamas and looked at the cheaper ones. He chose one of the $500 llamas. Before I loaded the llama into his trailer I wormed the llama again. The llama had been wormed about six weeks earlier, but it is our practice to always worm llamas when we load them up for customers. Some customers won't worm them in the future & we like to know they left our farm having been wormed. While I wormed this llama, Mr *** stood within arm length of the llama and watched. If he would have liked to feel the llama to better assess his body condition, he could have done so. He didn't. He had trouble taking a picture of the wormer I was using, so I took a picture of the bottle and text it to him.

Mr. paid for the llama, signed the bill of sale & was given a copy of what he signed. The bill of sale clearly states, "All items are sold "As Is" with no written nor implied warranty". This is standard language on most livestock bills of sale.

Mr. called me several times during the next couple of weeks. I readily answered his call each time. The last time he called he asked for a credit on another llama. I told him I was sorry I couldn't offer a credit & reminded him we don't warranty llamas.

I'm sorry Mr. llama purchase didn't work out. I appreciate Revdex.com allowing me to respond to this complaint.
