I was not given a written quote stating the repairs that needed to be done on my vehicle.My boyfriend drove my jeep to [redacted] on [redacted] to pick up a transmission for his truck. when he got out there the wheel bearing in my jeep blew out so he had it towed to Northboro Gas & Service to have it fixed. he told them that all he wanted done was the bearing, a brake pad and a caliper on the front drivers side and for them to call him on Monday with an estimate as to what it would cost to have it fixed. they never called him on Monday, they called him on Tuesday after they had already done the work plus the bearing, brake pad and caliper on the passengers side as well, which we did not want nor ask to be done. they told him that it would need an axle shaft as well, my boyfriend did tell them they could do that but I called Northboro Gas & Service today to confront them about not quoting me on what needed to be done and they expressed to me that they had not yet replaced the axle shaft and I told them not to. I looked up on the [redacted] website that there has to be a written agreement/quote signed before any work is done to a vehicle. we did not sign anything, my boyfriend just left his phone number, told them what he needed done and asked to be called with a quote. when I spoke with an employee of Northboro Gas & Service this morning [redacted] he stated that he called my boyfriend before he did the work and asked if it was ok to go ahead and do it and supposedly my boyfriend said yes, which is not true. he told me that he had a recording of the conversation so I asked to hear it, he then told me that it would take about a week to get the recording, which I know is untrue. all we wanted done was the work to the drivers side, they went ahead and did more without my permission or my boyfriends, this to me is unfair and from what I read against the law.Desired Settlementi would like to be refunded the money for the work that we did not ask to be done. I would like to hear this supposed recording of my boyfriend giving them the ok to do the extra work. I have been without a vehicle now for 5 days because we had to come up with [redacted] that we dont have readily available to pay for the work that we did not ask to be done. I was supposed to start a job on monday but was not able to because of all of this.Business Response Here is the other side of the story, The vehicle came to us on a flatbed with the left front wheel bearing destroyed, and the wheel about to fall off.the vehicle was brought in by [redacted] boyfriend. he told us to repair the vehicle as needed. We inspected the vehicle, and discovered that it would need both front wheel bearings and front brake pads and rotors. We quoted him a price of [redacted] He agreed with the price, and gave us permission to do the work. When we removed the old parts, we discovered that the left front axle had also been damaged. We called him and told him the situation, and quoted him a new price of [redacted] He agreed, and told us to do the work. Later in the day, he called us, and told us not to replace the axle, and he was informed that the vehicle would not be safe in this condition. He declined to change the axle. We made all the previously approved repairs, and called her boyfriend to let him know that the vehicle was ready. At this point, we had not spoken to Ms. [redacted]. She Called us and denied that we had spoken to her boyfriend. We informed her that we would call our phone service provider and have them send us the conversations. She then told us that she would talk to her boyfriend, and get back to us. Later She came and paid the bill and took the vehicle. It is clearly stated on her receipt, that "the vehicle is not safe to drive, and the owner assumes all responsibility upon removing the vehicle from the property. The receipt is signed and dated by Ms. [redacted].Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)My boyfriend did not call them and tell them not to do the axle shaft, I did when I called to confront them about them doing the work without a quote being given first. My boyfriend did not give any permission to fix anything, he asked to be quoted and get a call back before any work was done, which they did not do. Yes, I signed the paperwork so that I could get my vehicle, I did so after I called bofhe the Revdex.com and the attorney generals office to get information on what I should do and both stated that I would have to pay the [redacted] first and then file a claim, which I did do. I would still like to hear the recording of the phone call they supposedly had with my boyfriend giving them the ok to do the work. It doesn't matter what the condition of the vehicle was when it was brought in, what natters is that work was done that I, the owner of the vehicle, did not ok nor did my boyfriend and we were forced to pay the [redacted] just to get my jeep back when did not have that kind of money. I would like a refund of the money for the work we did not want/need (anything done to the right side, labor included) and to hear this recording.
