I was an *** University transfer student to Northcentral University due to fraud waste and abuse found in a financial audit at *** University. Once I transferred into Northcentral University, Northcentral University promised me if I complete five of their classes, they would provide me with my doctorate's degree. I took all five of the classes that were assigned to me and Northcentral University dissertation chairperson failed me in every class by providing me with a 'C' grade. I made complaints and requested that my dissertation chairperson be changed. But, Northcentral University would not allow my requested change for chairperson. I had never received a 'C' grade in any of my classes at *** University. Northcentral University defrauded me and strung me along in all dissertation classes by stating if I stayed the course until the end, all of my 9901 class graded would be changed into passing grades and that I would receive my doctorates degree. Well, after graduating from *** University through the cap and gown graduation ceremony held on 11/10/2018, and after spending 15,070 USD at Northcentral University, I still do not have my degree. Northcentral University's fraudulent practice concerns promises made to me via email, stringing me along, and then failing me and putting me out of their school after charging me $15,070 for a promised doctoral degree.

Northcentral University Response • May 22, 2020

Thank you for allowing us to respond to your
complaint filed with the Revdex.com expressing your concerns. We
understand that students invest much of their time and resources into enrollment
in a doctoral program, and so every complaint received is thoroughly
investigated and respectfully considered. Upon the conclusion of our research, we did not find
evidence to support your complaint that NCU made false promises of a doctoral
degree without the successful completion of the required courses in your degree
program. Your Academic Financial Advisor (AFA) and faculty provided consistent,
accurate communication outlining these milestones and provided additional
resources. You submitted a request to change your chair on
1/9/2020. Upon review, that request was denied. NCU found no evidence to your
claims your chair had not been communicating with you delaying your progress.
NCU found your chair to have provided substantive feedback. Your chair, committee, and Assistant Deans
communicated on multiple occasions of your refusal to follow NCU policy and
procedures. The Associate Dean of Students, Dr. Pucci, reached out to you upon
your request. Dr. Pucci left a voicemail when the call went unanswered. You did
not return those calls. Your dismissal was prompted for failure to maintain
NCU’s minimum academic standards. Following careful consideration of the information
you provided regarding your dismissal for failure to meet the University’s
minimum academic standards, and in alignment with the policies detailed in the
NCU Catalog under Grading Policies and Procedures, your request to be refunded
$15,070 is denied. I know this is a disappointing development, and we
are sorry for the result. However, we do wish you success in your continued
academic endeavors. The Office of the Provost

From 2016 – 2019, I attended Northcentral University, enrolled in their marriage and family thera*y master’s degree *rogram. In late 2018, my 4.0 GA resulted in my induction into the *** International Marriage and Family Thera*y Honor Society. However, when it came time to secure an internshi*, I s*ent more than a year chasing leads, only to discover that I had no viable candidates in my area, or the surrounding areas, who met the criteria for the site and su*ervisor – licensed marriage and family thera*ist (LMFT), su*ervision ex*erience, the clientele required to meet the *rogram’s milestones, and the willingness to take on an intern. With that said, I had no other o*tions available to me than to withdraw from the *rogram. At my *oint of withdrawal, I had com*leted and received grades for all of the classes that my student loans *aid for. Following my se*aration, I was billed for almost $4,000 – the amount of my loan funding the University received for my next course and subsequently returned to the lender when I did not register for the class. Northcentral University Response • Apr 02, 2020

Dear Ms.Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to respond to your
concerns with NCU. When a student withdraws from the University and does not
complete the loan period in which they are currently enrolled, NCU is required
to complete a Return of Title IV calculation. A Return of Title IV calculation
determines, based on federal guidelines, the amount of financial aid that the
student has earned out of what has been received for the loan period. If the
calculation results in the return of funds, those funds will be returned to the
Department of Education, and the student is held responsible for any balance
created with NCU. The refund policy is clearly outlined in the catalog and in the enrollment agreement you
signed prior to enrollment.Upon the conclusion of our research, NCU did not find evidence
to support your complaint that there were no viable candidates in your area. An
approval for an internship site was completed in 2018 which allowed you to
complete your first clinical course. On 5/29/2019, Dr. L
provided you with 5 potential options for supervisors in your area. On 9/20/2019,
per your request, a program change to the Master of Science in Forensic Psychology
was approved. On 8/23/2019, you contacted your AFA stating that you would need
to withdraw from NCU because you were starting a new job. As a service gesture, NCU is willing to write off a portion
of your balance. Starting on April 1, 2020, you will be required to make $50
payments per month for 24 months totaling $1,200. Upon successful completion of
these payments, NCU will write off the settlement amount of $2,614. Your
Academic and Financial Advisor has reached out with this offer via phone and
email. If this offer is acceptable to you, please contact your AFA as soon as
possible. We trust this response addresses your expressed concerns. We
wish you luck on your future academic endeavors. Sincerely,Office of Legal Affairs, Office of the President

Customer Response • Apr 05, 2020

Greetings,

As previously discussed, the potential supervisors your staff member found on Psychology Today were not interested in accepting interns, and the site ultimately did not meet the requirements of the program. With that aside, I am specifically seeking information on the exact costs that were incurred by me, which created this balance. I completed all of the courses that my loans paid for, and I did not drop out of or quit any classes that I registered for or started. With that said, would you please break down these charges for me?

Thank you

Northcentral University Response • Apr 06, 2020

We
would be happy to address this with you. It appears a breakdown was
communicated to you on 9/12/2019 to which you acknowledged prior to setting up
a payment plan. We have added that communication below for your review. Due
to character constraints for responses, a full copy is also attached.

Once
a student withdraws or gets dismissed from Northcentral University, we are
required to perform a return calculation of their financial aid funds. This
calculation, according to the Department of Education, tells us how much of
your loan funds you and Northcentral have “earned” based on the number of days
you attended your course(s), and how many course(s) you successfully completed
in the period of enrollment. Your
current period of enrollment is defined as the successful completion of 8
courses. In your case, we disbursed $15,853 in financial aid funds for the
3 courses you took. MFT-6951 Started on 10/15/2018 and received an A, MFT-6105
that started on 01/14/2019 and received an A, *** that started on
04/15/2019 and received an A. Of this amount, the Department of Education is
requiring us to return $3,964 in “unearned” Stafford loan funds to them. This
amount is posted back to your loan and basically pays your loan down by that
amount, reducing the amount that you owe to your lender. Worksheet attached. Title IV
funds awarded for period of enrollment: $31,705 (Box G of calculation) Title IV
funds disbursed for period of enrollment: $15,853 (Box E of calculation) Percentage
of Title IV funds earned: 37.5% (Box H of calculation) Actual
Title IV funds earned: $11,889 (Box I of calculation)

Amount
required to be returned: $3,964 (Box O of calculation, difference between
amount disbursed and actual amount earned) Northcentral is required to send back the amount calculated by the Department of
Education regardless of the balance on your account. Since this amount is
returned and posted back to your loan, this leaves a balance due with
Northcentral.

Thank you for your explanation. If my financial advisor
would have notified me that I was going to incur a balance from withdrawing at
that point, I would have declined and finished the remaining courses in the
period. However, this subject was never raised during any of our discussions. It
was not until September 5, 2019, that I was informed of this balance –
approximately five months after I withdrew from NCU. Since I was blindsided by
this situation, what can be done to either further lower or eliminate this
balance? Thank you

I WAS STARTING TO FILL ONLINE APPLICATION AND ANOTHER ADVISOR TOLD ME THAT THE ONLINE APPLICATION WAS NOT THE WAY. HE, REGGIE, WOULD TAKE INFO ON PHONE AND DO IT FOR ME AND SCHOLARSHIP OFFERED WOULD STILL REQUIRE ME TO PAY $2,000 ABOUT FOR ONE CLASS. IT HAS TAKEN A LOT OF TIME FOR ME TO TRY TO GET REFERENCE EMAILS AND THEN TO LISTEN TO DENIALS ABOUT THE AUTHENTICITY OF SUCH APPLICATION. I WAS GIVEN LIBRARY PHONE THAT WAS TO GIVE ME BOOKSTORE PHONE BECAUSE I REQUESTED BOOKS UNDER FORENSIC PSYCHOLOGY. COURSE NUMBERS ADVISOR SAID COULD BE ACCESSED THROUGH AMAZON BOOK STORE. I FOUND SIMILAR SOMEWHAT. LIBRARY WOULD NOT GIVE ME BOOKSTORE, POSITIVELY A RECORDING.
I WOULD LIKE TO ASK FOR A SETTLEMENT FOR THE INSULT I HAVE ENDURED AND THE TIME SPENT. WHATEVER YOU RECOMMEND?

Northcentral University Response • Feb 26, 2020

Thank you for taking the time to discuss your experience with NCU. We’re disappointed to hear that your experience was not entirely positive. Please give us the opportunity to look into the situation and take the necessary steps to correct it going forward.
First, the online application process is required and advisors cannot fill this information out for you. We apologize for any inconvenience. In regards to your issues with the library, we believe there is a misunderstanding. NCU does not have a “bookstore.” Books are included in tuition fees and are provided to students online once they are enrolled in their courses. You are not required to purchase course textbooks online.
For information on our current, available scholarships, please see our website: https://***/tuition-admissions/grants-and-scholarships. This information is updated as new scholarships are offered.
Please send us an email at *** with the best way to contact you, so that our team can reach out directly to discuss this in greater detail. Thank you.

To whom it may concern:

I need to know if I can transfer to another doctoral program in a different accredited university? I believe that my chair is not doing his job when I submitted adjustments per his four reviews. He said that I had no negotiable rights and that I would need to follow his instructions to the tee. I believed I have yet he sends the same review over and over again. I am frustrated and desire to leave or just get the ABD.

He informed me to do the adjustment on the original draft. I have submitted the original draft after he informed on the third review. I sent him the original draft with adjustments made but he insists I still do not follow his instructions.

I have called twice for clarification and I left a message and also sent email. The tome is of course in anger because I have submitted the adjustments as per requested. I am consciously looking for another program and I will start over again if I do not get this resolved at another university that is ethical. Also as a last resort I will also contact my attorney to cetermine my recourse for action

Northcentral University Response • Feb 20, 2020

We want to personally thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about your experience with us. We have contacted the Assistant Dean who reached out to you via email on 2/17/20 to better understand this issue and we are working to resolve it promptly and accurately. It appears that we reached out to assist with your complaints about your chair, however, you had already withdrawn and did not respond to the email sent to assist. If you would like to continue to work toward a solution with NCU, please contact us at ***. If you would prefer to transfer to another accredited university, please see our transfer credit policy located in our catalog.
Sincerely, Office of Legal Affairs Office of the President

This school is a joke for many different reasons, but let me just start out by saying that I have taken many online courses throughout my educational career so I know a thing or two about teaching myself and what it takes to complete online education.

First, don't expect any sort of consistency with your professors at NCU. Some professors will grade your assignments (all due by around midnight on Sunday, depending on your time zone) within a few days, while others will take a week or longer. This leaves you with no chance to review their feedback before submitting your next assignment. Not that their feedback actually means anything. I took several classes under their MS Organizational Leadership program and the professors would only grade your assignment based on whether or not it was in APA formatting. I never received feedback on the actual content. I even had a professor who seemed to "outsource" his grading: He said he was using his wife or son's computer to grade the papers, which is why a different name showed up in the comments, but shouldn't a professor of an online university have his own computer? The names on the comments were always different, so that just seemed a little sketchy. Also, if you have a question, don't even bother reaching out to your professor because they either won't offer any semblance of assistance or they will direct you to reach out to NCU directly.

Which brings me to NCU's administrative team... that's the biggest joke of all. I've had several academic advisers and very, very, very rarely will they actually respond to you in time. I submitted a request to change my program because I realized that I wasn't actually learning anything in the Organizational Leadership program (seriously, I had to write a paper about why it's "bad" for a business to mislead consumers). I was told the program change would take 2-3 weeks. Fast forward 6 weeks and the change still hadn't processed. At this point, I started shopping around for a new school to transfer to. I began looking at the cost of these other schools and thought that the cost per credit hour was a bit high... until I actually looked at what I was paying to attend NCU. Each of the MSOL courses I had taken cost nearly $2,400, which was almost $1,000 more than the other schools I was looking into. If I'm paying $2,400 per course, I expect teachers who are responsive and actually give a damn about their students, an administrative team that will respond in a timely manner, and courses where I'll actually learn something. This school is a ripoff and a waste of time and money.

I gave them a call and said that I wanted to withdraw from the university since I was already on a leave of absence while they processed the program switch. It took a 3-minute phone call to withdraw. 3 minutes. That's it. And yet it had taken 6 weeks to still not have a program switched over?

Save your time, money, and sanity and just go to a different school. You won't learn anything here anyway.

Office of Legal Affairs Office of the President

I am not allowed to display the actual names of people. my purpose of the review was to do that so if any prospective student was reviewing and trying to get a feel for the university he/she might at least have a heads up about it. the university is not the greatest but also not the worst. the worst thing about it is that there are a few teachers who will grade you so unfairly and arbitrarily to an extent that they will add requirements that were not even there in the first place just so you can get a lower grade. tried to appeal it with the school and they tell you straightforward that they do not have a specific way to grade. it is up to the teacher. so please watch out for that.

After 32 weeks of the same class and thousands of dollars I was told that the topic I chose for my dissertation was not feasible. my disappointment with NCU has now reached to a point that I feel as though I was misled in my journey towards my degree. The genesis of this problem began when I was approved to begin my dissertation. My chair worked with me as we gradually and painfully marched towards success. All the while, I made every alteration requested of me to reach the desire format needed to proceed to the chapter 2. after returning from vacation, my chair abruptly resigned and I was given a new chair. My subject matter expert (SME) has been grading my papers when necessary however, it was upon the last grading that he told me that I do not have a feasible topic. when I spoke to my chair she had another SME review my work and I then told that yes I do have a topic that I can work with. My problem is I am running out of money, I have made every single changed needed and after 32 weeks and over 10k NCU wants me to take another class for my chapter one. I need help. Can someone please assist me with this issue. Honestly, there were so many mistakes made by NCU its unbelievable. for instance, I was told by my advisor that she would call me, instead she sent me an email concerning withdrawal even though we made a decision that she would call me to discuss. another issue is that when all of this began I requested that someone call me and no one never did. the unprofessionalism and disappointment is astounding.

Northcentral University Response • Feb 19, 2020

This complaint was resolved between Northcentral University and Mr. in November of 2019. Mr.’ committee change and
extension were granted per his request. He ultimately received a passing grade
in DIS-*** and his Chapter 1 has been approved.

NCU

I enrolled to complete a doctoral degree at North Central University in February of 2011.
Initially, upon completion of my coursework, I was required to take a comprehensive exam prior to being assigned a mentor to begin my dissertation.
I was assigned a mentor at that time. Since beginning the project, the mentor was switched by the school five times (and I was required to retake the comps exam multiple times). Often, I was not informed of the mentor switch. I would not find out until additional time passed and the new mentor contacted me (after I wasted significant time trying to contact the previous mentor).
This resulted in a complete change of the direction of the project, sometimes resulting me to have to start from the beginning
due to differences in the preference of the mentors. This also required me to spend extra time in the program and accrue significant added expense due to the cost of adding extra semesters.
In addition, the last mentor assigned to me failed to communicate with me in a timely manner. He often did not respond to emails or text messages for weeks and did not look at my submitted work for sometimes a month at a time. This resulted in late submission of my completed work. It also required me to repeat the course multiple times and incur further tuition payments. I was forced to apply for an extension, which was granted. However, my mentor did not inform me of this. When I discovered I had an extension, he gave me an incorrect due date and indicated that I had 24 hours to complete all the required information. He then said he would be inaccessible because he was traveling out of the country.
Despite this, I managed to modify the paper as requested by the mentor and complete the required assignments before the final deadline. Review of the material by the assigned content expert indicated that the material was correct and complete. However, the mentor assigned the paper a grade of C, resulting in my dismissal from the program.

Northcentral University Response • Feb 19, 2020

NCU responded to Ms. complaint sent to the university with their final decision on August 22, 2019. Ms. was dismissed for failure to meet the University’s minimum academic standards, and in alignment with the
policies detailed in the NCU Catalog under Grading Policies and Procedures. The Office of the Provost has declined the request to reverse this
dismissal based on NCU grading policy that states students who are unable to
earn a minimum passing grade of “B” or better by the fourth course within a
dissertation block are subject to dismissal from the University. Ms. appeal for a non-passing grade in DIS-9902D was denied prompting dismissal from your
program. In this case, there is sufficient evidence that Dr. J provided
consistent feedback without delay. Our internal investigation found no evidence to support Ms. claims and the dismissal was upheld.

Please feel free to reach out for additional documentation.

I have attached the letter from our Provost to Ms..

Regards

Customer Response • Feb 22, 2020

Dear ***,I refute the response made by NCU in regard to my complaint. As I had previously mentioned, Dr. J was the fifth mentor to be assigned to me during just the dissertation stage of my program. Putting aside that fact, I will only address the issues with Dr. J. According to NCU's rebuttal, "In this case, there is sufficient evidence that Dr. J provided consistent feedback without delay. Our internal investigation found no evidence to support Ms. claims and the dismissal was upheld." In the attached screenshots, you will see images from my drop box for a few courses writing the dissertation. In each image, you can see the date my work was submitted and the date that feedback was provided to me. In some cases, three weeks to one month passed before I received feedback. It has been extremely difficult if not impossible at times to make necessary changes when weeks go by without any feedback on his part. This has often resulted in me having to retake and repay for the course, yet the University has taken no responsibility. I have written out the weekly submissions with late responses from Dr. J below. Course 9902-A V3
Week 8, submission 12/9/18, feedback given 1/7/19
Week 9, submission 12/16/18, feedback given 1/16/19
Week 10, submission 12/24/18 (4 hours late), feedback given 1/16/19
Week 11, submission 12/30/18, feedback given 1/16/19
Week 12, submission 1/6/19, feedback given 1/16/19

Course 9902-B V3
Week 4, submission 2/10/19, feedback given 2/24/19

Course 9902-C V3
Week 3, submission 4/7/19, feedback 4/28/19
Week 4, submission 4/14/19, feedback given 4/28/19

Yet another example of poor communication on the part of Dr. J occurred. I had applied for an extension, and it was approved, but I had never been informed of this by Dr. J. When I finally asked him about it, he gave me the wrong end date for the extension, pushing up the deadline to over a week early. I had only a day and a half to submit all changes that I had only just learned about. As I was working to do so, I discover that the deadline was incorrect. As the correct deadline was approaching, I had been working to finalize and submit Chapter 3, and then discovered Dr. J was going to be away. He left on July 18th, but we, as his students, were not notified until July 19th. He was then unavailable to assist me with my completion of Chapter 3. He directed me to my Subject Matter Expert, who did work with me. She passed me, yet he overturned it and failed me. This ultimately was what led to my dismissal from the University.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me. Thank you for your assistance.Warm regards,
Lisa

Northcentral University Response • Mar 10, 2020

Dear Ms.,

Thank you for your response and allowing us the opportunity to address your concerns. Unfortunately, the decision made previously by the Provost remains final. While we do see that your chair indeed changed, you were provided with multiple extensions to allow you the time to complete the necessary requirements. While we appreciate you listing out the dates of submission, the dates of feedback provided by your instructor do not match the records in NCU's system. Our internal investigation concluded the feedback was provided within NCU policies outlined in the catalog listed below:

Assignment Submission and Return

The Academic Week at NCU begins on Monday and ends the following Sunday night at 11:59 p.m. Arizona time. Assignment due dates are mandatory. Coursework may not be submitted before a course start date. Faculty who receive work before a course start date should return the work with an explanation of the submission policy. Each assignment’s due date must be met. In addition, coursework should not be accepted after the course end date and/or approved course extension end date. Faculty are expected to review and return assignment feedback in a timely manner. The recommended assignment response times vary by program-level and course deliverables:

Undergraduate and Graduate content course assignments = 4 daysDoctoral Comprehensive Portfolio/Prospectus = 14 daysDissertation Courses = 7-14 days (see dissertation handbook for additional information)

Your
request to reverse this dismissal is denied. NCU considers this matter closed.

We wish you all the luck and success in future academic endeavors.

Legal Team, Office of the President

In 2017 I was a registered with NCU and had been for about a year. The program that I am in is for my DBA with a Healthcare discipline. I have a child with a known and diagnosed birth defect - at the time she was receiving care with Denver Children's Hospital and the Craniofacial teams. In 2017 she had to have a surgery. One in June of 2017 and one in Sept of 2017. As with any parent and student I thought I could handle it all and soon found myself overwhelmed with pursuing my education, working and caring for my child. During this time my grades started to drop and so I contacted the professor and my advisor to see about an LOA – however the school then was not as accommodating at that time and I was not successful at obtaining one.
I had to just quit and take care of my child. NCU then had to return funds, understandably to the federal student financial aide and therefore left me with a huge balance that I was unable to pay and the payment options they provided were above my financial means. So NCU reported me to collections and reported now on my credit report is a segment that includes at one point in time I had over 5k collections debt. I returned to NCU in January of 2018 – after my daughters cleft repairs and overall final distraction osteogenesis healing and recovery. I feel NCU acted in negligence to a situation that was out of my control as a student, with a child that has a known birth defect. Their actions have and will continue to impact my success financially, professionally and possibly academically. NCU would greatly benefit from policies and procedures for students and families with disabilities. I feel their actions were discriminatory and unethical and should be rectified completely, given the circumstances. I have reached out to NCU administration and my advisor and requested documentation or letter to inform the credit bureaus of this unfortune event, but they refuse. I would NOT recommend this educationally institution.

Northcentral University Response • Feb 19, 2020

Good afternoon,

Thank you for providing us with the opportunity to reply. First, we apologize for the delay in response. It appeared that these notices were going to an old address that we have since updated. We do not have record of a Ms. *** as a learner at NCU. We do, however, have a student with the same first name and address of the complainant. We cannot release or respond to this complaint without verifying the student's information. From our initial authorization, it appears that this complainant is still enrolled with the university, actively taking courses, and doing quite well. If there is additional complaints that we need to address, please reach out anytime.

Regards,

Northcentral University

I enrolled in Northcentral University's Master in Marriage and Family Program. Once enrolled in my first class I encountered the poor quality of the program. Upon further research, I see many of the problems I have encountered are regular problems at the university. The program promises one-on-one with faculty, though the faculty frequently has issues connecting with students due to internet and phone issues (the professor's phone line at the university is frequently down and they are unavailable, even during office hours). Students are given reading and writing assignments, but no further engaging activities are provided. My professor for my first class was even switched out half way through the class to fill in as interim clinical director at the university. The program does not seem stable. Speaking with other students who are currently in the program or have dropped out, these are all regular occurrences. They were unable to get assistance for clinical placement while in the program, which is a requirement to graduate from the program. The university does not provide information on the number of students who have graduated from the program, and from what I have found in my research, it is not a reputable university and has not resulted in competent therapists working in the field of Marriage and Family Therapy.

The university has not done anything to address these issues. Upon my withdrawal from the program, no one has contacted me to follow up on my issues with the program. The only follow up I received was pushy sales/marketing trying to get me to re-enroll in the program with the chance to win a scholarship. The university's scholarship program is a scam, requiring students to enroll in the program before they can apply. Scholarship winners are not announced. Overall, I do not recommend this program to others. It is not a quality educational institution.

Northcentral University Response • Mar 18, 2019

RE: *** Complaint #*** Dear Sir/Madam, Thank you for the opportunity to respond to Mr.’s complaint regarding claims of Product Issues. We appreciate the opportunity to work with you through this matter. Northcentral University's Master in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) Program was the first predominantly online MFT program to meet all national standards and be awarded programmatic accreditation from the national accrediting body for the MFT field, COAMFTE. This process of having our program and faculty regularly reviewed and evaluated by an outside accrediting body helps us ensure we maintain the quality and rigor students need and expect to excel in this profession. Our graduates have an outstanding pass rate of the national MFT licensing exam, with over 90% of our graduates reporting they pass the licensing exam on their first attempt. We publish this and the number of graduates on our program’s home webpage. All our faculty hold doctoral degrees and have a background and clinical experience in the field of Marriage and Family Therapy, so students are sure to be taught by professionals active in the field. Our annual survey of student satisfaction has consistently shown students are very satisfied with the experience they have in the MFT program. The program employs 3.5 full-time faculty and staff focused specifically on helping students find and maintain clinical placements during the program. In addition to ensuring every student has an on-site local supervisor to provide face-to-face clinical supervision weekly, we have a team of dedicate NCU faculty that are fully licensed as MFTs and hold the nationally approved MFT supervisor credential (i.e., AAMFT Approved Supervisor) that run more than 40 weekly two-hour supervision groups using secure, HIPAA compliant video conferencing technology, thus ensuring all students are adequately supervised above and beyond the minimum state and national requirements. In regards to this consumer complaint about a change in faculty, although it is very rare we change a student’s faculty in the middle of a course it is true faculty may receive a promotion or new position, as appears to be the case based on this consumer’s report, and thus another faculty maybe assigned to take over some or all of that faculty’s courses. However, we ensure all faculty assigned to teach an course are fully qualified and trained to do so. It was also determined by the Dean that Mr. did not experience any prolonged delays due to this change. Based upon this information, it appears that all issues have been reviewed, researched, and adjudicated properly in accordance with policies and procedures, and we view this matter to be resolved. Please let us know if we can provide any additional information or be of any other service. Sincerely, Office of Legal Affairs Office of the President

The graduate response rate that is supposedly posted is not a number - there is no report of number of graduates from the program. This information provided differs wildly from student experience, my own included, I am happy to include further correspondence from myself and other students that have attended the program. I will be reaching out to the accreditation board as well, as again, this is not a quality program.

Northcentral University Response • Mar 25, 2019

Please see the attachment. Thanks!

Customer Response • Mar 26, 2019

The link provided for program graduation rate says “Page Not Found.” NCU has not responded to any of my other complaints, including its aggressive marketing which continued after I enrolled and withdrew fromthe program, scholarship contests which I believe are solely created to draw students in, and lack of follow-up in regards to student success and retention. Potential students should be warned about this predatory school.

This institution is stating that I owe nearly 4000 dollars back to them when in reality I don't. This school is funded by federal student loans in which I took out to cover costs of tuition. Federal loa service states that if a student stops school within the withdrawal period, then those funds aren't owed. I withdrew the second week out of 15 for my class, so it was within that period, so I don't owe anything to anyone. Now, this school is moving to another school title and still hasn't gotten back to me about any of this, but only to offer debt forgiveness of up to 4000 if I return as a student. This school is a scam and doesn't follow federal laws and regulations. I will also be filing a dispute with the credit bureau since I received no paper communication that this was a problem until the amount already went to collections because they knew they would lose. Please help me fix this and warn others about how money hungry this institution is. I woudl also lawfully like this balance to be removed.
thanks

They are claiming that I did not withdraw in the correct time period. I only took to weeks into my second course before I withdrew to to a medical issue. This is not resolved and I will not pay collections anything. This is on the University for not adhering to federal loan refund and rules that go with this. I refuse to pay this amount. No letter was sent just an email. No statement so most of what they said was an absolute lie.

I withdrew at week twoThis is incorrect I will find the evidence I need

They claim that they sent my diploma but it never arrived. Now they state that since it was never returned that I will have to pay for a replacement diploma. The address that they had on file was my grandmother’s. She never received. I had that address on file until I had moved. If it had arrived my grandmother would have it and I would not have to contact them. They are unwilling to send me a new diploma.

I, regrettably, was a graduate student at Northcentral University for 3 1/2 years in their so-called “accredited marriage and family therapy program”. When I was first researching schools, I spoke with admissions at NCU about their program, classes, how long it would take to complete my degree and internship. I, mistakenly, fell for their charade and decided to enroll. Upon completion of my 6th class, I began to search for an internship that would meet their exorbitant requirements. After searching for over a year and contacting over 100 local mental health centers, community programs, hospitals, private practices, and state aid with no luck, I asked for clarification on supervisor qualifications and aid from numerous people at the school in order to secure placement. NCU told me it was my responsibility to find a suitable supervisor and internship, but they would try to help. They did nothing besides re-email people I had already spoken to and constantly re-assure me that it would work out, WRONG.
Another year later, I landed my first (yes, FIRST) internship whom believed they could meet these ridiculous standards. This well-known local agency hosted many interns from various mental health backgrounds and schools in the past, but had never had a graduate student with so many outrageous fine details. They stated the requirements were better suited for someone seeking licensure, NOT a student. After two weeks, this agency received paperwork from NCU and decided they couldn’t keep me on as they did not believe they could meet NCU’s demands.
Fast forward a couple weeks and I finished my last class that I was able to complete before needing to begin an internship. I called NCU asking if I could enroll in a few extra classes until I landed another internship position and was denied. I was forced to take a 90-day leave of absence in an effort to find another internship. 90 days passed and I once again, failed and was forced to drop-out.
I wrote countless emails, voicemails and phone calls begging for anyone to help me at NCU find suitable placement. All I received in return was “your case is unique”, “it will work out”, “we are doing our best” and “we will help you”.
It would take yet another year before landing a second and third internship. The second one did not work out as my supervisor had a major health set-back and was no longer able to take on interns in his private practice. My third internship acceptance came this past summer. It met all prerequisites, or so I thought. After accepting this internship position and contacting NCU to begin all the paperwork and steps to re-enroll, the offer was rescinded due to a lack of meeting NCU’s specifications.
So, here I am 3 ½ years later, no master’s degree, a strong contempt for this school, $30k wasted, and forced to start my master’s education all over again.
I am also constantly harassed with weekly phone calls and emails urging me to return. I suppose they only want to waste more of my time and money as they clearly do not have the dignity to apologize for all their wrong-doings. Their faculty, teachers, and advisors working for this school DO NOT put students as their priority and should truly be ashamed of themselves. This disgrace of an online school is clearly most concerned with robbing students.
I am reporting Northcentral University to warn other degree-seeking individuals to avoid this school. The faculty, teachers, and advisors DO NOT put students as their top priority. When I originally spoke to someone on the phone before I enrolled, I was told it would take 3 years to complete my classes and practicum placement. It was a waste of my time, finances, and is 100% not worth the traumatic emotional experience they put me through. It is the true definition of a scam.

In the month of June 2018, Northcentral University (NCU) ran an ad campaign through social media and the NCU website saying they were giving away ten full-tuition scholarships. Eligible candidates had to be accepted and start classes no later than June 25th, 2018. Once I applied for the school, they told me that I would have to pay for the first course session and that the winners of the scholarships would not be announced until July 27th (but all students are required to pay for their first course session). I spoke with a lady in Financial Aid that said my remaining eligible financial aid would cover the first course session, which would allow me to start June 25th and apply for the scholarships. I later received a phone call from a different lady in Financial Aid that said that information was incorrect. I would have to pay for my first course session out-of-pocket before I could apply for the scholarships.

Firstly, the initial advertisement for the full-tuition scholarships is misleading. Normal scholarships are given BEFORE the semester/school year start and are applied at the top end before other financial aid.

Secondly, the incorrect and conflicting information from the Financial Aid department was extremely disheartening - a very poor representation of the school. I was supposed to start in less than one week, and now cannot.

June 26, 2018 Arizona Revdex.com Dispute Resolution Consultant RE: *** Complaint #*** Dear Sir/Madam, Thank you for the opportunity to respond to Ms. complaint regarding Advertising Issues. We appreciate the opportunity to work with you through this matter. From time to time, NCU utilizes scholarships or grants to promote awareness and interest for Northcentral and our graduate degree programs. These scholarships and grants are always intended for new students who begin their programs within specific timeframes – and in all cases, students who wish to apply for the scholarship or grant must begin their program prior to the date we award the winners. We train our Team Members to explain these details when a prospective student contacts us, and the instructions are displayed on our website. Additionally, in investigating the issue, Ms. had a conversation with her Advisor in which they covered all of her financial aid options. During this conversation it was communicated that the student was very close in reaching her aggregate loan limits and the need for a graduate plus loan to avoid an out of pocket cost for tuition and course materials. Ms. was informed that, with an approved graduate plus loan, she would be able to cover her tuition, but she would need that approved loan as, without it, she would have an out of pocket for educational expenses. The student applied for the graduate plus loan and was denied. Her advisor reviewed the specifics of the out of pocket expenses that would occur without an approved graduate plus loan. It appears that her advisor was in good contact and provided accurate information over several conversations with the student. Based upon this information, it appears that the student was guided in alignment with policies and procedures. Sincerely, Office of Legal Affairs Office of the President

The scholarship program is advertised as a way for potential students to be able to afford the Masters or Doctoral program. When I applied and was sent to financial aid, I was told the remaining eligible financial aid would cover my first term. Later, someone else called me to let me know that was not the case. I was set to start classes in just a few days from the conversation.

July 3, 2018 Arizona Revdex.com Dispute Resolution Consultant RE: *** Complaint #*** Dear Sir/Madam, Thank you for the opportunity to respond to Ms. complaint regarding Advertising Issues. We appreciate the opportunity to work with you through this matter. We have confirmed with our Operational Leadership Team, that a consistent message was provided. The only time Ms. was told that she may have financial aid to cover her courses was in relation to the graduate plus loan. In that conversation, the student was made aware that the graduate plus loan was a credit based loan and she would need to be approved. If approved, she would have funds to cover her course. If not, she was close to aggregate loan limits for federal aid and would incur an out of pocket expense. She applied for the graduate plus loan and was subsequently denied, so her advisor confirmed with her that she would have out of pocket expenses. Following her 6/19 conversation, the advisor sent an email clearly outlining what NSLDS reflected her current balance of lending that was remaining. This amount is reflective of Federal Guidelines and is not managed by NCU. It appears that Ms. received both verbal and written communication that she would need an approved graduate plus loan to prevent out of pocket expense without the scholarship. Based upon this information, it appears that the student was guided in alignment with policies and procedures. Sincerely, Office of Legal Affairs Office of the President

The school enrolled me in a remedial course that started 02 April, while it took their faculty until 03 April to grade the previous course. The previous course passed. This has cost me additional monies I did not have to spend, for a remedial course that was NOT needed. As such, I was essentially defrauded. I have filed an additional complaint with the Department of Education - Financial Aid division relating to misappropriation of funds.

I enrolled in NCU in the summer of 2017 hoping to complete my master's degree. Upon enrolling I was encouraged to seek a federal loan, even if I had enough money to pay out of pocket. I did so. After one semester I realized I would not be able to complete the program and asked to withdraw a week and half into the second semester. NCU charged me (in addition to my tuition) $2,163.00, saying that they would have to "payback" my loan servicer, ***. I paid both *** and NCU back in full, including a withdrawal fee of $2,619.00 to pay for the class I dropped. In April 2018 I received a call from NCU informing me that my six month grace period from dropping out of school was almost up, and I would be required to pay a balance of $531.49 to ***. When I reached out to *** I was told that they had sent additional funds around the time I had dropped out, and that NCU had kept the $531.49 and passed the bill along to me. When I contacted NCU the confirmed that they had kept this money and I was required to service the money they kept in the form of paying ***. I did so, but I find this to be shady. I was told I was square with both companies back in December 2018.

RE: ***Dear Sir/Madam,Thank you for the opportunity to respond to Ms. complaint regarding Billing or Collection Issues. We appreciate the opportunity to work with you through this matter. We asked our Operations Department to look into this situation, and below are the outcomes of their investigation.Ms. reached out to their Department on April 13, to state that there was a remaining $551 owed to her loan servicer and she felt she was fully paid up at that time. Team members attempted to walk the student through the concerns and how the funding broke down. The student hung up in the middle of the call so, subsequently, a communication was sent by email explaining everything to the student. This was sent to the student to help understand how the Return to Lender impacted the student’s debt and how the student incurred the debt to NCU and the lender. Please note due to Ms. withdrawal from Northcentral University, we performed a return calculation for federal aid according to regulations set forth by the Department of Education. According to the return calculation, we are required to return the amount owed to the Lender on the student’s behalf. This return calculation determines how much of financial aid was “earned” based upon the number of days that the student actively participated in their courses at Northcentral and the number of courses they successfully completed within the payment period. The student is responsible for paying Northcentral this amount. Our Team Members have made several attempts to contact the student trying to assist and provide service in every way possible. As for the student’s concern about using Financial Aid, the below timeline was documented during the enrollment process:7/5/2017: Student has a Financial Aid meeting to review payment options but states that she would prefer to use the cash pay option7/12/2017: Student indicated she would like to pursue Financial Aid7/12/2017: Student had a subsequent conversation with Team Members and confirmed her decision to pursue this option.7/13/2017: Student received help creating her FSA ID to complete her *** application7/14-17/2017: Student completes *** application, entrance counseling, master promissory notice regarding funding and responsibility to repay.Ms. had to complete all these steps as they were not previously on file and elected to do so rather than utilizing our cash pay option. At this time, all issues have been reviewed, researched, and adjudicated properly in accordance with policies and procedures, and view this matter to be resolved. Please let us know if we can provide any additional information or be of any other service.Sincerely,Office of Legal AffairsOffice of the President

They've been sending one spam text message per week to my cell phone I've never done business with them, and I never would. I also do not "opt out" of spammers, as that just tells them the number is active, and many resell lists of such numbers. Please change their rating to reflect their unethical advertising methods.

Hello Robert,

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We appreciate your feedback and will notify our Admissions team of this issue.

Customer Response • Mar 21, 2018

You just sent me another text today, similar to the previous two (one each Wednesday). I do not reply to scammers'/spammers' messages, so I have not replied "STOP" in an SMS. That would be really silly, to expect someone who pays for text messages to pay again to get you to stop. Do you also mail advertisements "Postage due"? I don't think Revdex.com should list you as a reputable business if this is your marketing plan.

I am a student in the DBA division of the University. I have paid 3000.00 per course. Nobody on the campus cares. I have to call 4-6 times to get a solution to my minor problems. Nobody returns calls and most important nobody cares. I waste more time calling and finding someone who can help than I do getting educated. Usually the turnaround time for a return call is 3 days. You get different answers for the same questions from different people. Sounds like a big scam to me. I demand some type of satisfaction. THE STAFF DOES NOT CARE ONE IOTA ABOUT ME. They already have my money.
