*** *** *** ***,
This letter is in response to the complaint that was made against NorthCoast Moving Incon Dec 29, The complaint was assigned ID# ***
Our rebuttal to the complaints that were made against us can only be done by stating the factsThe following will consider
each complaint separatelyHowever, I do want to state that it was recommended to these folks that we complete this move over a two day period instead of oneAlso, we did offer our packing services which they chose to declineUnfortunately, when we showed up to load their items they were not packed and readyI mention this because I feel that it added to some of the misunderstanding and confusionWe had to complete the job in one day, which we wanted to do in two days, and we had to deal with a home that wasn't ready to be movedHowever, we dealt with the situation by working faster and helping them pack boxes, all in an effort to complete the job to their satisfactionFurthermore, the manager of NorthCoast helped pack and load on the load portion of the move and the owner helped unload at the unload portion of the move, both pro boric)
The first complaint against us was that we left the old residence without completing the moveBefore we left the old residence we had the gentleman do what we call a walk through to make sure that we get everything that we needed to getWe purposely do that so our clients can't blame us if something gets leftWe had the gentleman do the walk through because he was the only family member that was thereThe wife was not at the load portion of the moveThe movers felt that the homeowner gave us the OK to go to the new houseI do feel sorry if these folks had to spend time at night making runs over to the new location but we did get what we were askedAgain, since they took on the responsibility of packing they should have had that done and the move would have been much clearer
The second complaint refers to the overloading of the closet rods, which they stated caused them to breakIn my opinion, I think that any closet rod should be able to have all of its area utilizedPerhaps it is neglect on the part of the person who installed the rodFurthermore, if this was our fault why did we hear about it six months after we completed the move, which is long past the days that we give customers to make a claim byAll of our invoices, like the one that these folks received, clearly states that, "Any claims need to be processed in writing within days of services"Also, I want to point out that their hanging clothes were transferred to the new location by wardrobe boxes that we provided free of chargeIf we didn't unload these boxes we would have had to charge $per box
The third complaint refers to the Christmas treeAgain, the Christmas tree is another item that was brought to our attention six months after the moveEven though we could have said that we are not liable because it was way past days of the move, we didn'tInstead we set up a time for both the manager and owner to come over and repair ItWe did feel that we repaired the structural part of ItWe knew that we wanted to fix the lights that we not workingTherefore, we purchased lights and a repair kit on Nov 30, After that we tried to get a hold of them via telephone, we were unsuccessfulNot only did someone not answer the phone, the messages were full and we could not leave a messageIt is our professional opinion that the Christmas tree was not packed properly in the first placeIt was set up in the basement at the old home instead of being broken down into a box or large bag
The fourth complaint refers to the kid's water table which was valued at $We were led to believe that they were not that worried about itThey never formally asked for a dollar amount to replace itAgain, since this wasn't brought to our attention within the allotted time we are not responsible for itHowever, if they would have asked for an amount of $or less we would have obliged
As far as the complaint about placing boxes into their storage area instead of the areas they claim the boxes said, we can't remember if the boxes stated were they should go or notWe do know that the packing of the boxes was certainly a rushed event considering that many of the boxes were packed that morning of the move
We are saddened that we did work for a customer that is not happy with our servicesWe really did try to make the best of a moving situation that we dislike being put into, which is having to move someone who did not take the proper steps to make sure that their home was ready to be movedHowever, once their grievances were brought to our attention we tried to resolve their issuesAgain, because these folks did not file any claims within the days we are not responsible for any claimsHowever, we did try to resolve these issues once they were brought to our attention to the best of their satisfaction

From: [redacted]Date: Wed, Jan 13, 2016 at 10:05 AMSubject: ID# [redacted]To: [redacted]Hello [redacted],I was was working on my rebutal to Northcoast Moving's response to my complaint and my computer locked up before I was able to complete the response.  I then hit continue and the incomplete response was submitted by mistake. Could you please add this to my response?Thank you,[redacted]The company has repeatedly claimed that they did a walk through of the old house before leaving with my husband.  From day one my husband  has stated that this did not happen.  He did not even realized that they were leaving for good.  They never walked about the home with him.  They certainly never walked to the second floor. In addition, the Christmas tree was brought to their attention on 6/22/15 via email.  Per Ohio law a moving company must provide at least 60 days to file a claim.  The company must acknowledge receipt of your claim, in writing, within 15 days after they receive it. The company must then offer you a settlement, in writing, within 30 days of receiving your claim. None of this was done.  Their 15 day policy is in direct violation of Ohio Law. In additional I have never been offered a settlement or a means of how to file a claim.  Again their continued response has been to call them. With the water table, I again brought it to their attention on 6/22/15 via email asking how to file a claim.  I was never provided instructions on how to file or asked for a value make or model #.  Again their 15 day policy is in direct violation of Ohio Law.All of the boxes they moved were clearly marked.  When they transported items to the storage area, they had tall piles of boxes and only looked at what was on top.  In fact my lines that I needed for that evening where in the far back corner of the storage area.  They were not only clearly marked, but I had discussed their placement with the company as we needed them for the beds that evening. The company has not attempted to resolve any of these issues other than poorly repairing the broken branch on the Christmas tree.  They continue to site their 15 day policy which is again in direct violation of the law.  I have never been provided any instructions on how to file a claim.  They did not put anything in writing up to this point and my interactions via telephone were unprofessional and rude (again I have been hung up on and yelled at). I believe that because I am a woman they have attempted to use intimidation in order to not take responsibility for their actions.[redacted]

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
When I first contacted (via email) Northcoast Moving about how to file a claim on 6/22/15 I received an email to call them.  This email did not address any of my concerns.  In fact this is the first written communication I have ever seen from the company that addresses my complaints.  Up until this point I have been given conflicting information on the telephone.  I have been yelled at and hung up on by the company. My initial claim with the company did not include the closets being overloaded by the movers and having them break off leaving a gash on the wooden closet door and damaging the walls because someone from the moving company brought it to my attention on the day of the move.  At the time, I did not wish to pursue this further because I did not realize how much additional damage the company had done and I just wanted to get moved into my new home.  In my last phone conversation with the company they denied breaking the closet rods and shelving and now claim that it was broken on their arrival.  I had not hung anything or placed anything on the 2 rod/shelving units prior to their arrival and our realtor can attest to the fact that the rods were secured to the walls during our final walk through of the home.  Yes, it was recommended that the move be done over 2 days.  However, because of our timeline we had to complete the move in one day.  If Northcoast Moving felt they could not handle such a large move in 1 day they should have turned away our business as I had another company that was willing to complete the move in one day.  I did not plead with them to complete the move in a day, that was what we needed done and if Northcoast was not equiped for such a move they should not have accepted the job.  When they arrived the over 90% of our house was packed any ready.  They were not asked to help complete the packing and no one from Northcoast moving assisted in the packing of our home.  I fully understand that they left some of the unpacked items.  However, on the second floor there was a closet full of marked and labeled boxes.  They left furniture in the basement along with several other boxes that were ready for moving.  When they did the walk through prior to the move, they saw the Christmas tree fully assembled in the basement storage area (I keep it assembled so as not to bend any branches). I was not instucted to pack the tree in any way.  In fact I was told they would bind the tree with cords (which they did).  If I had been instructed to pack a tree that costs over $1000 I would have surely protected it.  They said they have purchased a device to fix the lights.  However, I have contected them twice over the past month via phone to have them come out to fix it and they have not responded.  In our last conversation they said they would come out after the holidays (which was not particularily helpful as it is a Christmas tree) to fix it.Regards,
