Northern Builders, Inc. Reviews (3)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
tfc***10:PM (hours ago)to me Hi ***,I'm sorry I keep missing your responses when you send them to me.A $refund would resolve this for me for the following reasons:One of the company's employees stole my obsolete shift lever and replaced it with a short one that doesn't belong to my vehicle Even though Madison Auto responded with the right part number, I already called another Auto Service and was told that the part was obsolete I looked online for the part and it's obsolete I have no idea how Madison Auto is going to find my part unless they get it back from where they sold it to or the other vehicle they installed it into Once they get the part that my vehicle is supposed to have, my husband and I can pick it up and have another Auto Service reinstall it Also, when the other Auto Service replaces it, I will be there watching so that I can get evidence that might be obtainable under the shell of the steering column.Secondly, the front brakes didn't need to be replaced They did not install my brakes and rotors properly because if they would have, my car wouldn't have a high pitched and loud squeak/squealing sound when I'm driving itI'm going to have to take it in to have them fix it for what Madison Auto was supposed to have taken care of in the first place If Madison Auto would have done what they were supposed to do in the first place, I wouldn't have this problem.Madison Auto used fear tactics to get me to be their customerThey use a AAA tow truck driver to give out special coupons that are actually expired, telling prospective customers that the place they're planning to take their car to is going to over charge Then, Madison Auto tells the customer that their car is so bad that if it's not fixed, it will burn up, causing permanent damage Then, the owner uses fear tactics, using a New York type accent to make the customer feel belittled, stupid, and foolish for asking questions I did bring my car back in when the son of the owner told me to He took photos of my steering column and gear shift lever and didn't call me back when he said he would, which would be after he was going to talk to someone about it and let me know what transpired When I called him back that afternoon and asked him about it, he acted like he didn't know what I was talking about and started asking my why they would do that He then told me to bring my car in again so that they could look at it Did he ever mention that fact in his response? The car did need to be towed and I accept those charges The brakes and rotors and some extra missing parts did need to be put back on the rear of the car I accept those charges (less the cost of the parts that my husband already purchased.) But, judging how they stole my gear shift lever, who is to say that they used the same rotors that my husband purchased The rotors my husband purchased were better quality than what is used on average Per my husband, "They were hardened steel rather than cast iron." If we had that looked into also, we might find that the rotors they installed are cast iron My car doesn't have the right gear shift lever in it that it's supposed to have, it makes a high pitched, loud squeak/squealing sound when I drive it, and the "service engine soon" light has been coming on for the past month or so They over charged me $ I should have never listened to that AAA tow truck driver that claimed that the other company would just "rip me off." Perhaps the other company would have also, except if they would have, it would probably been by a couple hundred instead of a grand and a half.Sorry again for not responding sooner, but I truly didn't see your email response until this evening even though I have been checking my emails Sincerely,*** ***

To whom it may concern, I am Jerry K[redacted] the owner of Madison Avenue Auto Service and Towing, I spoke directly with the customer about this complaint before it arrived in your hands at the Revdex.com, the customer I spoke with was also a woman and not the person who filed the complaint. The customer...

called up my company the day after towing her vehicle and she was very irate. Saying that we towed the vehicle to the wrong address and left it on the side of the road and that the vehicle was impounded. I called my driver and asked him about the situation. The driver who has been working for me for approx 10 years and has done 1000's of AAA calls, confirmed that he dropped at the address that was  [redacted].  Before he even towed the vehicle he confirmed with the customer that [redacted] was the address she wanted it towed to and she agreed. The customer did not meet us at the drop off location and did not ride with my driver. The customer stated that there is a building where a guy does auto repair behind his house. When my driver arrived at [redacted] he dropped the vehicle there.the number [redacted] were on the pole building out back behind a house. After confirming this with my driver, I called the customer back to talk to her. What she failed to mention in the complaint was that the address that she really wanted to go to was [redacted] and not [redacted]. She stated to me how she was given the wrong address by someone and that it was my companies fault for towing it to the wrong address. We followed proper AAA procedure and protocol by confirming the address with the customer before hand, it is not my driver's or my companies fault that she was given faulty information from a third party prior to our services. I have attached pictures for a reference to the property and the location that it was dropped off . In the 25+ years my company has been towing we have and will never drop a vehicle on the side of the road.

To whom it may concern,This is in reference to complaint #[redacted] of the Revdex.com (Revdex.com) on 3/5/2016 by [redacted] towards Jerry Knapp Enterprises Inc D.B.A. Madison Avenue Auto. Complaint: Mrs. [redacted] claimed that Madison Auto has removed the original shift lever from her...

vehicle and installed an inferior one that is not made for the vehicle.  She claims it is a safety issue and that her steering column has been placed out of alignment upon receiving her car after the repair.  Mrs.[redacted] also claimed that we over charged her on her repairs here and that her repairs should have only cost approx: $500 because most of the parts were supplied. Madison Auto’s background with Mrs.[redacted] is as follows. Mrs.[redacted] contracted AAA to have her vehicle towed because her husband had started repairs on the vehicle and could not complete them too him being in the hospital. Upon arrival to the scene our driver told us that the rear tires were removed from the vehicle as well as the rear Brakes were taken apart. It is against AAA policy for a vehicle to be towed as such under contract through them. We did offer to perform a cash service if she would like and we could help her with repairs at our shop.  Upon receiving the car for the initial brake inspection after my driver put back the car together we noticed several things. The rear brake parts that we had received were missing several components. One of the rear caliper bolts was missing as well as the hardware for the rear brakes.  She supplied only the rear pads and rotors which we explained that we could not give her a warranty on. She was understanding of this and told us to go ahead with the repairs.  There were several other things that needed attention on the vehicle as well. As is standard we checked out the vehicle for Mrs.[redacted] and notified her of some other repairs that were necessary. (You can see the complete bill attached and the breakdown of parts and labor)  The vehicle has been sitting for a while in her driveway and we recommended that her front brakes be replaced as well as her rear tie rods.  She was quoted the prices before the service was performed and she agreed to have us do the repairs. After fixing the brake issues to make the vehicle safe to test drive, upon start up the vehicle began to smoke badly. We diagnosed the issue as an intake problem and recommended that she replace the upper and lower intake and gasket.  As is standard in the industry with cooling system issues and vehicles that have been overheated a thermostat and gasket replacement is always suggested. Mrs.[redacted] came to the shop to see these problems for herself. She was needed in person and Mrs.[redacted] was quoted a price before we started work on the vehicle. After going over the estimate with her we were given permission to do the work.  Since Mrs.[redacted] is a 1st time customer and AAA member we gave her 10% off her bill as well resulting in a discount of $219.20. Upon arrival she was pleased with our work and paid the total after tax of $2157.57.The next month Mrs.[redacted] came back into the station rather upset and claimed that we had taken her shifter out of her vehicle and replaced it with an inferior shift lever. She claimed that the original shift lever she had was tan and that it was a limited edition lever. She spoke with Jerry Knapp Jr when she first came in. The second time we spoke with Mrs.[redacted] she spoke with the owner Jerry Knapp Sr. Jerry advised her to either bring the vehicle back into us so that he could get the vin and see if there was another shifter available for that vehicle or to take it to a dealer to have it accessed. We contacted the closest GM certified Buick dealer to Mrs.[redacted] to have the vehicle looked at. The dealership is Steve Barry Buick located within 2 miles of her house. We talked to the shop manager  Al and he said Mrs.[redacted] could bring the vehicle in at her leisure and wouldn’t be charged for the inspection.  Mrs.[redacted] claimed that she wasn’t going to go there and stated that she’d go wherever she wanted, whenever she wanted.  We recently contacted her to see if she had gotten the vehicle looked at on 3-8-16 and she has still not had it looked at.Upon further investigation of the matter and being able to have the vehicles VIN number we called the dealership to find out if there is another shifter made for that vehicle. For that year, make, and model there is only one shift lever available for that vehicle.  In the attached files you can see the part number and specifications from the dealership themselves.
