I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted]. The price to fix the engine changed from $6,000 to $3,500 because the co owner of my truck did all the repairs and replaced the engine with a new motor. I had just spent $11,000 on the vehicle, I could not afford another $6,000 to repair it. It would have been $6,000+ had I had the Ford dealership do the repairs.

We traded in the 2009 Ford F150 with 170073 miles from a
customer who told us that he had paid Thief River Ford to replace the cam phasers.  We called and spoke with the Service Manager
at Thief River Ford who confirmed that they had performed that repair before we
traded in the...

Prior to the sale we informed the new owner that Thief River
Ford had repaired the cam phasers for the previous owner before it was traded
in to Northern Motors.
The new owner called to tell us that the engine was damaged
and that the engine needed to be replaced which would cost $6000. When the new
owner called he told us that we had lied about the cam phasers being replaced.  We obtained a copy of the repair order from
TR Ford showing that repair and sent it to the new owner. The new owner wanted
$6000 for the repair/replacement of the engine. We wanted to know what the
issue was with the engine. We were never informed what the cause of the engine
failure was and thought that the issue was with the cam phasers. We aren’t
aware why the price to repair went from $6000 to $3500.
