We spoke to Northland Builders twice about this complaint Their reference to several discussions is not accurate They are, however, correct that the excavating was not part of the written contract but since we were new to the area the sales representative agreed to arrange the excavating and we paid that part upon completion. We were told when we signed the contract that it would be completed by the end of the season Our error was it was not written in the contract To have a building take a year to complete is not acceptable So, there are two main complaints on our end1) the job was not completed as promisedThey should not have indicated they could finish it by seasons end if there was any doubt We were not given what was verbally promised to us and we were not given any explanation as to why A year to complete a job is not acceptable! 2) the communication was not acceptable by any means. Again, we emphasize the lack of communication Even this spring the "new manager" did not keep us informed if they could in fact complete our project by the end of the week or not In our eyes the communication had not improved We feel that we should be treated with respect and kept in contact with each step when it was was arrangedPeople just coming and going with no notice or not showing when you think they would be is rude Several times we were told they would be out by the end of the week and then no one would show up and we would have to follow up and ask what happened and when could we expect them It should not be our responsibility to contact them all the time to see what is scheduled next and when is it expected to be done We still are disappointed with this business and hope they do not treat other customers with such poor service Again, a year to complete a building Not good business

Northland has addressed Mr ***’s concerns and both parties have agreed on a settlement. We regret any inconvenience this misunderstanding may have caused Mr ***

36'X30' Steel Garage was put up in winter 2018, seems solid and looks very nice. The price was right for me since most other prices seemed double. I had to make a major change in the roof structure just before the order was sent, no problem, my salesman, Larry Kobs stuck with me along the whole timeline. 5 stars! Like other comments, I was warned about the remainder of the wood/steel trash, I'm disappointed that they didn't go around and pick up nails/screws at the least. I pulled my $50,000 truck in the garage not thinking about it but thankfully no flats so far. I would recommend for the savings and quality.

Regarding this complaint, we are scheduled to meet with Mr [redacted] on November 10th, and plan to respond after that meeting. Thank you,[redacted]

5 representatives met with Mr. [redacted]...

on November 15, 2016 to assess the issues. Windows were found to be defective, causing the leaks. It was agreed upon that Northland Buildings would replace the service door and trim, overhead door trim, and evaluate a solution for the windows. Since that time all material has been ordered, including new replacement windows. Northland Buildings plans to perform the above mentioned work Wednesday 11/30 and Thursday 12/1/16. Tell us why here...

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. Northland Buildings was here on Thursday, Dec. 1 to replace door and windows, and other repairs.  Hoping to test them before the freezing weather comes or we may possibly not know until spring.

The crew left boxes of nails and screws all over the ground. I had to pick up three boxes of nails and screws after it got done snowing. There is still one side of the building with nails and screws and garbage frozen into the ground. I.m still waiting for someone with authority to come and look at the situation. I'm not holding my breath. I would never ever hire this outfit again.

Review: We singed a contract to have a 24x24 pole building put in on August 7, 2013. The understanding was that it would be complete by the time winter started. They obtained a building permit on August 13 and we received a letter from the company dated August 16 that they would be contacting us in the near future regarding the delivery date, time and construction schedule. We had not heard any word from them so we contacted the sales representative toward the end of September and he said he would check on when the building materials were expected. We asked if the land should first be cleared.and prepped for the building and he was surprised that had not been done. We felt like our paperwork was lost in a pile or something. The manager called and said they would be sending someone out to do the excavating by the end of the week. We asked to just keep us informed of the process. The call ended but before we hung up I heard "Is that what you wanted me to do? Was that good enough?" That was so unprofessional. They did not contact us when the material was being delivered. The delivery truck called us the evening before indicating they could not get to our home that evening but would arrive first thing in the morning. The materials arrived and it was probably 2 weeks later when they started putting the building up. The weather was not an issue last fall at all at this point. We made our second payment timely for the building. This was made mid October. By the time the building was almost complete it was too cold to pour the cement. We did not hear from the company until spring 2014. The sales representative and building manager showed up, unannounced, in the rain, saying they could finish by the end of the week. We had just received a lot of rain and we were concerned about our yard being dug up with the cement truck so we asked them to wait. We called them at the end of the following week and said they could come out and finish up. We did not hear from them for the next 3 - 4 weeks so I called the manager and left a voice message that at the end of the month it would be a year since signing the contract and that we expected it would be done by last fall. He called back saying they would try to have it done by the end of the week. We heard nothing so I called again the next week and finally the job was completed by the end of the week. Three weeks later the sales representative calls and wants to do a final walk through. The day he came out we received the final bill in the mail. We told him we would have expected some discount since it had taken a year to complete. He tried to say it was the weather and poor management at the time but things had improved. We reminded him that the weather was fine last fall and had no effect on the building. We said it was like we were lost in the shuffle. We advised the last check would be mailed but we would not recommend the business to anyone.Desired Settlement: We would agree to a 10% refund of the total bill or reimbursement of our last payment as a satisfactory outcome of this poor business agreement.

Response:

Northland Buildings has had several discussions with *** and ***

*** of *** in the past two weeks.

The couple purchased a storage building with concrete from Northland

Buildings in August of 2013. Excavation

of the site was the customer’s responsibility and was not part of the contract

with this company, though a site preparation requirements checklist was signed

by the customer at the time of the contract on August 7, 2013. The fall of 2013 was a very busy time in the

construction industry, and lead times were quoted in the 8-10 week time frame

for delivery. A normal contract explicitly calls out an

“estimated delivery date” of material.

The customer changed that to “desired material delivery date” but that

request could not be met. By the time

the project was ready, excavation (not Northland Buildings’ responsibility) was

delayed, which delayed the material delivery, but not by very much.

Material delivery occurred on October 17, 2013. The construction crew was substantially

completed with all portions of the building (excluding concrete) by November 7,

2013. Unfortunately, it got very cold very

early last fall, and concrete contractors, including this one, were shut down

for the season early. This was a force

of nature that worked against the timeliness of this project. In the spring, the first date that was

attempted to complete the contract was not acceptable to the customer, but the

second one was, though after talking to the customer this month they were

unsatisfied with the communication process.

The concrete installation was sufficient quality to meet customer

satisfaction.

After much discussion between the customers and the regional manager,

and between the customers and corporate management, we believe

·

The customer is satisfied with the quality of

building construction

·

The customer is satisfied with the construction

crew

·

The customer is satisfied with the concrete,

albeit late

·

The customer is dissatisfied with the

communication from the regional manager last year.

Late last year, the regional manager responsible for this contract was

terminated from employment at Northland Buildings. His performance was not the reason

the concrete could not be completed in 2013, however this was the primary

person with which the customers expressed dissatisfaction, and said manager has

been replaced.

Northland Buildings believes the customer has a quality building, with

which they are satisfied. Regretably,

we were not able to meet the customers’ desired monetary compensation for their

troubles.

I had northland build a pole shed for me and they've been more than difficult to work with. Especially *** who was incharge so to speak, of the operation. I paid them in advance and *** cheated me out of 2k. Never working with those *** again. Even the sub contractors that worked with northland on the project said bad things about northland.

I put money down with a contract on a pole building in may of 2014 with the salesman from Northland Buildings seated in my home with my wife. The three of us discussed that the latest we would accept the building being built was mid September. When I called at the end of August after not hearing anything from Northland I was informed there was a technical issue with the height and my door was going to be smaller. I called the manager direct at Northland and expressed that was not what my contract called for and he later called back and said they would make the side walls taller to give me the door height I signed the contract with. Now I have been calling every week and keep getting lied to that I am next on the list. It is now one day before November and today they informed me again it was going to be another week before I was next. They deliveered my materials on September 26th and I had to give them a check for all but $2000. It has been raining and snowing on my pile of materials for the last five weeks and full of dirt. I am going to talk with an attorney and see what kind of legal action I can take to get my money returned. I have been lied to in every phase of this deal and want out!

I ordered a 30x40 pole barn from northland buildings and was told by salesman that it would be erected as little as four days, it took 13 days, one day off for cold weather and another when an argument started. The building turned out good and is a very nice structure. When the project started the pad was left with four inches of snow and ice so the it would be easier on the crew for leveling and curb appeal until the melt. I told the foreman that it had to be dug down to the pad so I would not have to add additional fill, I grabbed three shovels and they hopped in their trucks and left the two hour job of clearing the perimeter to me. Once the post were erected I used my backhoe to remove the rest of the snow and ice from the interior in which it took three hours. All could have been taken care of on the onset by scraping the pad to the surface. The foreman was looking for the easy way out, I was warned by other people of this practice. When the project was finished nothing was left except for one 2x4, it's stated in the contract all materials left over are property of northland buildings, not one screw was left if needed for siding. I contacted *** in Eau Claire and he never replied until I asked if he received my e-mail concerning the project and then his reply was ( yes I did) not another word was said. I took plenty of pictures of the process. Overall it's a nice building but the work foreman needs some fine tuning.
