on Sept 4th at approx. 4 pm a rep from NorthStar alarm system approached our residence and told me he was here to update or check on our security system. he inferred that our current provider, Monitronics had been taken over by them and he was checking with customer to see if service was okay. I stupidly let him in the house and he proceeded with his spiel at very rapid pace. there was a constant shuffle of paper and I guess I missed a lot of what he was saying and agreed to his proposal to take over our alarm monitoring. He, The rep, told me he would be responsible for any balance due Monitronics for the balance of our contract. I was then informed by Monitronics that what he had done was illegal. when I complained to NorthStar I was told by the agent on the phone he could not cancel the contract with them but I should submit my final bill from Monitronics to NorthStar and they would pay it. He also advised my only other choice was to request a dispute letter from them which I did.
