Northtown Ford, Inc. Reviews (1)

Review: My daughter is a college student in Menomonie, and I provide her with a car and its insurance and repairs. When her car would not start, I advised her to have it towed to a Ford dealership. She was told that there was no power getting to the fuel pump and that a connector needed to be replaced. She agreed to this repair. A few days later, the car quit on the freeway. She had it towed back to the same dealership, and was told that a repair that she had declined the previous time was the issue. She had not been told of this problem the first time. The dealership says that their service records indicate that she had. What matters is what was said, not what was recorded. Why would she, knowing that I was going to reimburse her, refuse to replace a part when her car was already there for repairs? So now she had incurred an unnecessary towing charge. I advised her to point this out. After making this complaint, she was told that the dealership would cover this towing charge, and she would need to pay for the part and the service. I advised her to agree to this. Upon picking up the car, she was charged for the tow and the part, but not the labor to replace the faulty switch. And again, the dealership claims that their records indicate that this is what she had been told in the first place. Each time she had provided them with my phone number, but each time they called her. She would then immediately call me to get my approval, so there was no time lag. Again, what matters most is not what was recorded, but what was said.Desired Settlement: I would like to have the difference between the second towing charge and the second labor charge refunded.

Response:

My understanding is that on the 2nd visit Mr. [redacted] expectation was to pay for the part and service, but not the tow bill. Instead the charge was for the part and tow bill, but not service. The tow bill was $185.00 and the labor that was not paid was $100.00. This would leave a difference of $85.00. We would be willing to refund the $85.00 as requested to resolve this. Sincerely, [redacted]
