NORTHWAY AUTOMOTIVE Reviews (3)

I travelled over an hour to purchase what I thought was a "great deal" from a seemingly reliable dealership - Northway Automotive. However, from the moment I drove the car off the lot I experienced BIG problems and racked up an even BIGGER bill. The car has needed a ton of repairs in just the few months that I've owned it (it didn't even pass inspection!) and my mechanic has identified additional issues needing attention in the near future. I attempted to contact the dealership multiple times and was given the run around. I am stuck with a useless car and thousands of dollars in the hole. My hope is that no one else makes a similar mistake by choosing this deceitful dealership.

Used Car Dealer? No way this is a used car dealership! These guys were GREAT!! And honest to boot! I came in to look for dependable car that would be good in the winter and last a few years. I ended up with a 2006 Subaru Legacy. I already did my research and they were selling the car below market value and the mileage was low, also. I was concerned about the brakes and they addressed it immediately and put on new ones and rotors. I had a few other concerns that were addressed as well and it was done in a very timely manner. I had a trade in and they were very fair with that and even said I might get more to sell it out right. I was so happy and they even discussed the warranty with me and told me with the year of my car not to go for extensive warranty because a waste of money. Who does that? Usually they try and get you for everything they can. They even told me to come back if any problems because they want to know about it and they will help me with the service under my warranty to find a place for the work to be done. After I got the car the CD player wasn't working, I called to ask them about it and they ordered a new one and put it in when it came in! I have had the car now for couple of months and am so happy! THERE IS NO OTHER PLACE TO GO TO THAN NORTHWAY AUTOMOTIVE, you'd be foolish not to!!!!

Review: I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS DEALERSHIP. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED. FIRST OF ALL TEMPORARY 20 DAY PLATE EXPIRED, COMPLAINED AND RECEIVED ANOTHER 20 DAY PLATE. FINALLY RECEIVED THE LICENSE PLATE 2 DAY'S BEFORE THE 2ND TEMPORARY PLATE EXPIRED. REAR DIFFERENTIAL STARTED TO GROWL. I CHECKED THE DIFFERENTIAL. FLUID WAS LOW. BURNED UP GEAR. PORT JERVIS AUTOMALL ESTIMATE WAS $700-$800 DOLLAR'S. DEALERSHIP JERKING ME AROUND. PLUS OVERCHARGED ME $279.35 FOR WHAT IT WOULD HAVE COST ME FOR PENNSYLVANIA TAX. LOOKING INTO 'LEMON LAW". I AGAIN SAY THAT "I DO NOT RECOMMEND" THIS DEALERSHIP!Desired Settlement: I WOULD LIKE MY DIFFERENTIAL TO BE FIXED. AND MY MONEY FOR THE OVERCHARGE.

Response:

CUSTOMER CALLED AND COMPLAINED ABOUT REAR DIFFERENTIAL, STATING IT BECAME NOISY AND STARTED TO GROWL. OVER THE PHONE CUSTOMER STATED THAT HE HAD PERSONALLY LOOKED INTO REAR DIFFERENTIAL AND SUPPOSEDLY HE ADDED SOME FLUID INTO IT TO STOP THE NOISE. WE EXPLAINED TO HIM THAT AT THE TIME OF HIS PHONE CALL TO US HIS WARRANTY IS EXPIRED DUE TO MILEAGE OF THE CAR THAT HE PUT ON. WE HAVE SIGNED BUYERS GUIDE SHOWING 90 DAYS OR 4000K MILES WARRANTY WHICHEVER COMES FIRST. AFTER THAT CUSTOMER TOOK VEHICLE TO LICENSED REPAIR FACILITY TO HAVE IT CHECKED, AT THAT TIME WE HAD OFFER CUSTOMER SOME ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIR KNOWING HIS ORIGINAL WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. HOWEVER CUSTOMER SUBMITTED THIS TO Revdex.com. AS FAR AS OVERCHARGE FOR REG, WE USE THIRD PARTY COMPANY TO FILE PA STATE REG AND WE CHARGE ACCORDINGLY. OUR FEE FOR REG ON THIS DEAL WAS $300.

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: first of all we don't even have a copy of the buyer's guide, never received it, we have called them and asked about it 5 time's, still waiting. The $300.00 say's estimated, and in paragraph 12 it say's that any overcharge would be refunded. do the math. they did not want me to take the vehicle to a garage that I normally deal with to get an estimate. They did agree to pay some of the cost but not all. I had the vehicle fixed, it did cost a little more than original estimate. They now claim that they will not pay any money toward's repair because I made a complaint to the Revdex.com. I'm now out $591.30 for something that I had no control over. The garage that they use are the one's that screwed up the vehicle. They are the one's that originally worked on the differential. This could have been settled nice and easy, it has now gotten out of hand. This does not show good customer service. and unfortunately now since it has went this way I will be taking this matter to small claim's court.

Response:

I explained to [redacted] that the information in that paragraph is only for new jersey only and is not applicable to him since he lives in PA which it states State Of New Jersey . We did send out the error for overcharging the taxes because our computer has NJ taxes set in it and wasn't changed. [redacted] said to me there was (2) mechanic that he worked with and I asked if he felt comfortable with either one and he said "no Problem" with either one so I said it would be less expensive to not go to the Dealer and go to his certified mechanic instead. He does not understand that the facts of this problem. He had a 3 month 4000 miles warranty which expired due to miles plus if he was still under the warranty it would of been voided because he opened the sealed rear end bolt himself which only certified and authorized by the warranty people can handle to keep in the guidelines of the warranty. [redacted] said originally that he and the mechanic would call us before proceeding with any work once they knew what was wrong with the vehicle. They both did not and did unauthorized repairs which as I can read from this email that is way over the amount that he originally said to us. Our company never has any issues with trying to resolve any problems because at the end of the day our customer service is what makes us a great dealership that hundreds a year come to us. I said that we would send up to 300.00 for repairs because that would of been what WE agreed on. If we settle on this I would need to be guaranteed that no other future legal action would take place and he would sign and notarize a letter that this has been resolved. We do not wish to have any contact with this customer due to Multiple counts of harassment which he did state to me that he is a "Hot Head" and that he drinks and has "Beer muscles" when he calls and he has apologized multiple times to me and said he would apologize to the other employees he was abusive to also. I hope that you can help us resolve this and we can walk away from this Knowing we did the best to resolve a problem that was not our fault but since it was our customer we wanted to help him out.
