To whom it may concern,
[redacted] was given an estimate on the phone for about $[redacted] for repairs needed at that time, (valve cover gaskets replaced, inner c.v. boot replacement, a/c special, radiator cap replacement, etc., [redacted] looking further into the a/c blower motor only functioning on...

high). I called him and gave him my findings about why the a/c wasn't cold (low on freon; which he assumed was the case) and he authorized the repairs (which did not include diagnosis of the a/c blower only working on the high speed) and I inquired if he wanted us to go any further in the diagnosis of the aforementioned. He asked the price and I told him about $[redacted]...he authorized diagnosis at that time. I proceeded with diagnosis of the blower motor only working on high, ran the tests and at the end of the tests, it stated "replace with known good a/c control head" which I reported to [redacted]. I gave him the cost of the [redacted] a/c control head and asked if he wanted to replace at that time. (I believe the cost was close to $[redacted] for the part). [redacted] declined the repair and said it was too expensive. I told him I understood. I put the components back together per his request and added the authorized diagnostic cost to the $[redacted] which equated to about $[redacted].00. When [redacted] was checking out, he mentioned the difference in cost and I reminded him about the cost of diagnosis for the blower working only on high setting was added to the bill and added to our original estimate of $[redacted]. He said, "oh that's right, I forgot" and said no more about it.
As far as the repair that was performed on the left door is concerned, a gentleman that worked here pushed the vehicle back and the left front door barely touched a metal corner of our building, but it did create 2 chips in the paint about 2/32" each. Instead of attempting to fix the chips with touch up paint and possibly have it look bad, I chose to ask [redacted] (custom motorcycle shop that I've sent many of my client's to and have used their services myself), to please repair the 2 chips in the paint. This was the only damage to the door; no dents. The paint work to repair the chips was completed. When [redacted] came to pick up his vehicle, we had wiped it down (not washed) and he mentioned it wasn't that clean when he dropped it off. When he asked me why we wiped it down, I asked one of our guys to pull it outside into the sun so [redacted] could inspect his car. I then told him what happened and that it was repaired and asked him to inspect it in the sun. He did notice a sliver of protective tape that was on the lock which was used only to protect (not painted up to) and he removed it, but he said he could not tell where the repair was made. After he fully inspected the left door (after I told him there were 2 chips and we had them repaired), his exact words were " no problem, I appreciate you telling me. I guess we'll chalk it up to [redacted] happens".
[redacted] called me awhile after he had picked up his car and said his a/c blower motor wouldn't work on the high setting. I then explained to him that the a/c control head was bad according to the tests and in order for him to have the a/c, heat and blower motor to work properly, the a/c control head would need to be replaced. He was upset and said that was unacceptable and that if he knew it would do that, he never would have asked us to diagnose the problem. There is no way I, not anyone else, can tell when an electrical part will fail. I'm sorry [redacted] was upset and felt this way. He has been a valued client here for many years.
